Olympus VN-1100PC Digital Voice Recorder Basic Instructions
The Olympus VN-1100PC is a simple to use Digital Voice Recorder that can be used in and outside the classroom to record conversations. Audio files recorded using the recorder can be transferred and saved on a PC. These files can be edited and converted to other formats (notably MP3 and WAV) using Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ or any other sound editing software. To switch the Recorder on press down the hold key positioned on the side of the
device. (The date and time will be displayed on the LCD screen.) Recording Mode The Recorder can record conversations in the following modes XHQ (extra high quality), HQ (High quality), LP (Long Play) and SP (Standard Play.) To set the recorder to the appropriate level press down the DISP/MENU button and use the arrow keys to select the appropriate setting. The setting you have selected will now be displayed on the LCD screen.
How to record a conversation Audio files can be stored in either Folder A, B or C. To select a folder switch the FOLDER / INDEX button on To change the folder, again select, the FOLDER / INDEX button. The circled letter on the LCD dial will change.
To record a conversation press the Record button (REC.) A red light will appear and start to flash below the LCD panel.
To pause a recording press the REC button. The word PAUSE will now flash on the LCD screen. To finish a recording press the STOP button. The red light will now stop flashing. (The counter showing the number of recordings will now change to show the recording has been stored successfully.)
How to playback a conversation (using your Digital Voice Recorder) Select the PLAY button and use the < > arrow keys to select a recording. The volume level can be adjusted by selecting the up and down arrow keys.
How to erase a conversation To ERASE a conversation display the recording to be deleted on the LCD screen. Press the ERASE key. The number of the recording will flash on the screen and the words YES and NO will be displayed. To delete a recording move the < > to highlight the word YES. Now press the ERASE key again to delete the selected file.
How to tranfer audio files to a PC or laptop Install the Olympus Digital Wave software Connect the Recorder to the PC using the USB lead supplied. The PCI/F connection is situated on the side of the recorder. The letters PC will now be displayed on the LCD screen
Open the Digital Wave Player file on your PC or laptop Select Transfer from the Menu bar Choose to open either Folder A, B or C Click on Transfer Folder to move the contents of that file to your PC
To view the contents of that file open My Documents and the folder Digital Wave Player Now click on Message and select either Folder A, B or C
The contents of that file will appear in the folder saved as WAVE files
