DV- SP500

DVD/CD/MP3 CD P LAYER
Available in Gold or Black
One of the Best DVD-Player Buys in the History of DVD Just Got Better
Discover the difference of progressive scan and Onkyo ExperienCinema quality in a surprisingly affordable DVD-Playerthe DV-SP500. Even if you havent upgraded to HDTV-ready television, theres plenty more that this versatile DVD player can offer you. Onkyo exclusives, direct digital path and Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC), give you audio and video quality not found anywhere else. Components and features like these previously found only on our high-end products, provide you with a DVD player sonically matched to Onkyos line of high-quality digital surround receivers. The DV-SP500the DVD player for the discerning customer.
ExperienCinema Our over 50 years of experience in Imaginative Sight & Sound allows you to experience pure listening and viewing pleasure through our ExperienCinema concept. Onkyo not only provides you with the highest picture quality available, through progressive scan, but also audiophile quality sound from 192 kHz/24-bit D/A converters and Onkyo exclusives Direct Digital Path technology and VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry). All of this adds up to a truly astounding sight & sound experience. ExperienCinemathe way it was meant to be. Progressive Scan Most DVDs are progressivemeaning they produce video in complete frames. But to be compatible with all TVs, the DVD signal must be interlaceda method where the picture is split into two fields and then blurred together to look like one. Progressive scan retrieves the original progressive signal, and on such compatible displays as HDTV, plasma or digital TV and high-end projectors, paints all the visible lines on the screen in a single passso youll enjoy a scan-line-free image, with spectacularly clear color, no motion artifacts, and details so sharp they seem as if theyre etched onto the screen. MP3 Playback Instead of using your small computer speakers, you can play over your home theater system the MP3 files you downloaded from the Internet and other sourcesup to 10 hours or more of music on a single disc, depending on the bit rate of the MP3 files. The DV-SP500 will display the MP3 filenames on your TV screen, and you can program a playlist of up to 24 songs from the same disc.
State of the Art 192 kHz/24-Bit Burr Brown DAC This top-quality digital-to-analog converter utilizes Burr-Browns enhanced multi-level delta-sigma architecture, which employs 4th-order noise shaping and 8-level amplitude quantization to achieve excellent dynamic performance and improved tolerance to clock jitter. Exclusive Direct Digital Path Unlike other DVD players that use PC-board copper traces to transfer the digital audio signal, the DV-SP500 employs a a high-purity, heavy-gauge, shielded cable to directly output the 96 kHz/24-bit digital bitstream straight from the disc to the back panel. The result is a noise-free digital audio signal that is less susceptible to flux. VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital (pulse) noise at the conversion stage but cant remove it completely. Previously only available on Onkyos high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between the sampling points and these discrete sampling points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The resulta noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source. Outstanding Disc Compatibility While all DVD players can play CDs, the DV-SP500 can also play both CD-Rs (write-once) and CD-RWs (rewritable), as well as CDs that hold MP3-coded files.
