Outdoor Safety Awareness
In this program, young workers are introduced to the safe practices for lifting heavy objects, painting and staining, grooming landscapes, operating power tools, using gas-powered equipment, working with ladders, confined space awareness, handling hazardous materials, fueling machinery, and maintaining personal hygiene. The YES, Outdoor Safety Awareness program is aimed at young workers who will primarily be performing manual labour or outdoor work. The program highlights rules of conduct, personal protective equipment, personal hygiene, and safe work practices.

Enrolment Information

The Asbestos Awareness course is intended for anyone who may come across asbestos in their normal line of work, or anyone who works in a facility where asbestos may be present. It is intended to increase worker knowledge regarding asbestos, and to reduce the hazard of accidental exposure. It is not intended for those people in the asbestos remediation or removal business, as they require substantial additional training. Asbestos must be inhaled in order to be a health hazard; there has been no evidence to suggest that ingestion will cause any ill effects. There are several diseases associated with asbestos exposure. It is important to be aware of the health risks associated with asbestos exposure when asbestos may be present in the work place.

NORCATs Confined Space Awareness Internet based training program delivers essential knowledge to any worker who may work around confined spaces. The hazards that exist and that are met when entering and working in a confined space are capable of causing injury, illness and death. Often accidents occur because a hazard goes unrecognized. In effect, the confined space is a hazard, and must be treated as such. When working around a confined space it is necessary to be aware of the dangers that exist in and around the confined space area. Whenever dangerous goods are being transported, the safety of the public must be the prime consideration. Therefore, under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulation, the consigner, or shipper, has numerous responsibilities. These include ensuring the shipping documents are completed correctly, making sure the packaging meets the specifications set out in the regulation, and making sure that all labelling and safety marks, including placards, are correct for the load being transported. By law, you have the right to know what hazards might exist in your office workplace and how to avoid injury when working around them. Workplace accidents most often occur when people take unnecessary risks, are not paying attention to what they are doing and/or not following standard working procedures. By not jeopardizing the health and safety of fellow workers, obeying all safety procedures and reporting any incidents, nearly all common work-related accidents can be prevented. This training program will inform you of many useful safe work practices in an office setting, help you recognize potentially dangerous situations at your workplace and teach you how to react to such situations in a responsible manner.

The Young Employee Safety (YES) program provides work guidelines that employees should know and follow. The program highlights rules of conduct, personal protective equipment, personal hygiene, and safe work practices. In particular, young workers are introduced to the proper techniques and practices for lifting heavy objects, painting and staining, grooming landscapes, operating power tools, using gas-powered equipment, working with ladders, confined space awareness, handling hazardous materials, fueling machinery, and maintaining personal hygiene. It is the employers responsibility to ensure that every reasonable precaution is taken to protect a worker. However, it must be realized that it is the young workers responsibility to work with care and attention to safety.

The UserID and Password provided to you are specific to your training and should not be given to anyone. Your records will be logged with reference to your UserID.
Participating in NORCATs internet-based health and safety training is easy and convenient. From anywhere an internet connection is available, visit http://www.norcattraining.com to log onto our training. Once at http://www.norcattraining.com participants click the Log on to MY IBT to start their training. A logon screen will appear and the user will be prompted to enter their UserID and Password in the appropriate fields. Users can obtain their UserID and Password from their appointed administrator. The user can now launch any course they are enroled in through the MY IBT system. The user can also view their own training records in MY IBT. Once the training program is launched, the user simply progresses until the program is completed. There are many functions built into the training system to help aid the user, such as bookmarking, glossary of terms and navigational features. Once the training is completed, the user is provided a report card as well as a personal card as proof of training.
1. Menu Provides access to glossary, bookmarks, legislation and other features. 2. Scroll Bar Allows user to scroll through current presentation information to review information. 3. Rewind Allows user to navigate backward through the information. 4. Pause / Play Allows user to pause and play the presentation. 5. Fast Forward User can fast forward up to the point of information they last saw.

Suivre la formation en sant et en scurit de NORCAT sur Internet est facile et pratique. partir de nimporte quel endroit o vous avez accs une connexion Internet, visitez le site http://www.norcattraining.com pour ouvrir une session. Une fois dans le site http://www.norcattraining.com, les participants cliquent sur Connecter MY IBT pour entreprendre leur formation. Un cran douverture de session apparatra et lutilisateur ou lutilisatrice devra entrer son nom dutilisateur et son mot de passe dans les zones appropries. Les utilisateurs peuvent obtenir leur nom dutilisateur et leur mot de passe auprs de leur gestionnaire dsign. Lutilisateur ou lutilisatrice peut alors lancer le cours auquel il ou elle est inscrit/e par lentremise du systme MY IBT. Lutilisateur ou lutilisatrice peut aussi consulter son dossier de formation dans MY IBT. Lorsque le programme de formation est lanc, lutilisateur ou lutilisatrice progresse tout simplement jusqu ce quil ou elle lait termin. Plusieurs fonctions sont intgres dans le systme de formation afin daider lutilisateur ou lutilisatrice, telles que des signets, un glossaire et des outils de navigation.
