I bought the tom tom rider to mount on my harley, the only part that worked for mounting is the mirror mount. none bad buy for motorcycles

GP50U is a failed product About a year ago, did some research before buying a GPS. From its spec sheet, wow, 5" screen, bluetooth, text-to-speech!

Preparation
Disconnect the lead from the negative () battery terminal.
Caution: Do not disconnect the battery terminals of a car with trip or navigational computer since all user settings stored in memory will be lost. Instead take extra care with installing the unit to prevent shorts.

Installation Precautions

If possible, have the equipment installed by a professional installer. If you should encounter any difficulties, please consult your nearest authorized Panasonic Service Centre. 1. This unit is designed exclusively for use in vehicles having a 12-volt negative ground battery system. 2. Follow the instructions for electrical connection carefully. Failure to do so may result in damage to the unit. 3. Connect the power lead (red) after all other connections are made. 4. Be sure to connect the battery lead (yellow) to the positive (+) terminal of the battery or to the fuse block (BAT) terminal. 5. Insulate all exposed wires to prevent short circuiting. 6. Secure all loose wires after installing the unit. 7. Carefully read the operating and installation instructions of the respective equipment before connecting it to the unit.

Notes:
It is natural that the unit becomes warm during prolonged use. The unit may not function properly if installed in a location where it is exposed to high temperature such as in the trunk. Preferably install it in the driver's compartment. Install the main unit on a firm base inside the driver's compartment, such as on the floor or in the console box. Any changes in its position may cause the position of your vehicle to deviate in the screen. Choose the location for installing the main unit so that it is easy to reach it for inserting and removing the map DVD-ROM and points in a convenient direction. Do not install the main unit on its side or upside down. This may cause malfunctions. Install the main unit in horizontal position. The permissible tilt is within 10 side to side and within 30 front to back.

Do not install the main unit in locations that tend to get very hot, such as on the dashboard or in the glove compartment. This may cause damage to the unit. To prevent damage, avoid installing the main unit in places where it is exposed to: Direct sunlight Air flow from the air conditioner Heat generated by other equipment

Precautions

We strongly recommend that you wear gloves for installation work to protect yourself from injuries.
Installation Procedure - Navigation System
Note: Disconnect the cable from the negative () battery terminal.
Attach the L-Shaped Brackets !0 on both sides of the unit with the Tapping Screws with Washers q.

Secure the rear of the unit. a) Check the electrical connections by referring to this operating instructions. b) Insert Power Connector t to the unit.
After installation, reconnect the negative () battery terminal.
Attaching the Remote Control Holder
Attach the double-sided tape !4 to the back of the Remote Control Holder u. i Remote Control Unit
Remove the backing from the double-sided tape, then press the Remote Control Holder u onto the surface where you want to attach it. u Remote Control Holder Put the remote control i in the holder. !4 Double-Sided Tape
Note: Place the Remote Control Holder where it will not interfere with driving.
Installation of GPS Antenna
Install the GPS antenna in the vehicle where the system can receive GPS satellite signals from all directions.
Do not pull on the cord to remove the antenna. Otherwise you might disconnect the cord or scratch the vehicle surface. Wipe the installation surface clean before attaching the antenna.
Installation inside the Vehicle (Dashboard or Rear Tray) (Recommended)
Install the antenna in horizontal position on the dashboard or in the center of the rear tray near the rear window. Lead the antenna cord inside the vehicle.

Wipe the installation surface clean before peeling off the backing paper and attaching the bracket. Windshield at least 20 cm GPS antenna

Display unit

Install the antenna at least 20 cm (recommended clearance) away from the monitor and other electronic components as these may reduce the reception sensitivity. Do not bend, cut or otherwise modify the metal bracket (L-shaped). The metal bracket is supplied exclusively for installation inside the vehicle. Use only the supplied metal bracket !2.
Notes: The body shape of some vehicles may interfere with proper signal reception. Some types of window glass may block signal reception. If the reception sensitivity is not satisfactory with the antenna installed inside the vehicle, please consult your nearest authorized Panasonic Service Centre.
Cautions: This product is designed to be used in a car having 12-volt negative ground battery system. To prevent damage to the unit, be sure to follow the connection diagram below. Do not insert the power connector into the unit until the wiring is completed. Be sure to insulate any exposed wires from a possible short-circuit from the vehicle chassis. Bundle all cables and keep cable terminals free from touching any metal parts. Your in-vehicle navigation system requires a complex installation procedure to ensure reliable operation. If you experience any operational difficulties, or require a repair, please refer to the original installer or your supplying dealer for assistance.

Caution:

Cautions: If noise is generated in proportion to engine revolutions, the earth conductor of the navigation power cord and that of the monitor unit should be connected to the same place of the metallic block of the car body. Take the same action if the brightness of navigation screen is not constant.

To connect any lead of the power connector to any lead of the vehicle wiring harness, cut off the terminal and use the clamp type connector supplied instead. Do not cut the speed pulse lead or the remote control lead.

Make sure the connectors are plugged firmly into all units. Do not install this kit in places where it could be exposed to splash water or the air flow from the air-conditioner, or near the vehicle entrance where it could be stepped on.
