Once connected to any of our new top-of-the-line head units, the Expansion Module becomes your in-car hub. Imagine! Plug in and play mini-DV tapes over our new overhead monitor. Made for iPod The phenomenon of the iPod has changed the way people enjoy music. Panasonic now lets you share your iPod music collection with everyone in the car. Our new upper-end head units connect with the iPod either directly via an optional cable or the Expansion Module. Any iPod with a Dock connector can be connected. (As of January, 2006)

WMA, MP3, and Smart File Management Play music stored in the popular MP3 (MPEG Layer-3) audio compression format or the new Windows Media Audio (WMA) the advanced format that delivers near-CD audio quality in only half the space of an MP3 file. Panasonic lets you do both! MP3 and WMA music files can be downloaded from online music stores via the Internet or "ripped" from your CD library. Then just create a custom disc of your favourite tracks by burning them onto a CD-R or CD-RW for easy loading in the Panasonic car audio system. Of course if you have our new iPod-ready system, just load your iPod and connect. Your CD-R or CD-RW can be packed with up to 20 CDs of songs, giving you access to a vast selection of music. The familiar PC-like interface of Panasonic's powerful file management system makes it easy to navigate through a maximum of 999 files and folders per disc. Navigation of the tree of folders and files is simple, and the user can instantly call up the display of ID tag information such as artist names and track titles for quick confirmation. Front AUX Input For easy connection of external devices like iPod and other external audio devices, the unit features a front AUX input. To accurately calculate distance travelled based on vehicle speed, it is necessary to take into consideration speed coefficient differences that are dependent upon vehicle type. To solve this problem, Panasonic uses original software processing for fully automatic distance correction.
Automatic Intersection Zoom*
As you travel towards your designated destination, the map display automatically zooms in 300 metres before you reach an intersection where a turn needs to be made. Also shown is the distance remaining to the turn, the direction of the turn and the road to be taken after turning. Map instructions are supplemented by voice prompts. If turns occur in rapid succession, the display will show the distance to each succeeding turn, direction of each turn and road names.

Six Smart Ways to Find a Destination
Panasonics DVD navigation systems give you a choice of six easy and effective ways to search for your destination and programme a route. You can search by: 1) Address (street, city, or post code); 2) Intersection (i.e. main street and cross street); 3) POI (Points of Interest) category, such as amusement parks, hotels, or restaurants; 4) History, meaning any one of the last 100 destinations to which you have previously driven; 5) Marked Point, which is any one of up to 100 places you can input into the systems memory to be marked on the map with an icon; and 6) variablespeed joystick Map Scroll in eight directions. If you start by inputting a city, the CN-DV2300 will show you a list of up to ten cities you have selected most recently. If the city you want is on the list, then theres no need to input the name again, letter-by-letter.

Intelligent Map Matching

Panasonic DVD navigation systems obtain detailed information about your cars path, and compare it to map data. Their effectiveness is particularly apparent on narrow roads that have many twists and turns within a short distance, as detection of the changing angle of the vehicle on curves contributes to high-precision map matching performance.

To accurately determine your vehicles position, Panasonic uses a hybrid system combining GPS and self-contained navigation methods. GPS depends upon signals picked up from three, four or more of the 24 GPS satellites orbiting some 20,000 kilometres above the Earth. Self-contained navigation uses a gyro-sensor and speed sensor to derive vehicle position when GPS satellite signals cant be picked up temporarily. By correlating such measured data with map database informationa process known as map matchingit is possible to show your vehicles location on a map display with a high degree of precision.
