To accurately determine your vehicles position, Panasonic uses a hybrid system combining GPS and self-contained navigation methods. GPS depends upon signals picked up from three, four or more of the 24 GPS satellites orbiting some 20,000 kilometres above the Earth. Self-contained navigation uses a gyro-sensor and speed sensor to derive vehicle position when GPS satellite signals cant be picked up temporarily. By correlating such measured data with map database informationa process known as map matchingit is possible to show your vehicles location on a map display with a high degree of precision.
Panasonic packs a high-precision, compact gyrosensor and GPS receiver into a completely integrated 1-DIN size unit for easy dashboard installation. Depending on the individual car model, console installation is also possible for easy access to the disc slot.

Round-Leaf-Tweeters

To raise linearity and minimise partial resonances, a thin 15-micron concentric aluminium voice coil permits the double-gap magnetic circuitusing a donut-shaped magnet and yoketo drive the 5-micron diaphragm as one piece. The strong neodymium magnet contributes to the slim shape, while integrated construction of the diaphragm and voice coil helps minimise transmission loss and mechanical loss. Clear reproduction of small signal nuances is complemented by frequency response that remains linear to an astonishing 80kHz (-16dB). Tones above 20kHz may be inaudible as single frequencies, but as hormonics they represent delicate timbral differences and ambience cues. This brings out the full potential of DVD Audio signals, which reach far into the ultra-high range. Using materials selected for reliable performance in the car environment, Panasonic offers round-leaf-tweeters as separate components for the CJ-DVD177 and CJ-DVD137, as well as integrated tweeters for the 2-way CJ-SS172, CJ-SS162 and CJ-SS132.

This tweeter combines the outstanding high-range directional characteristics of a dome diaphragm with the superior low-range response of a cone diaphragm. The use of a powerful neodymium magnet helps reduce magnetic circuit size to one-tenth that of a conventional magnetic circuit. The resulting sleek tweeter can be mounted in the front door, or on the dash.
Symmetric Surround Design
Panasonics symmetric surround design features six alternating edge portionsthree rolled up and three rolled down. This helps assure equal air displacement for low harmonic distortion near the low-range resonant frequency (fo). Compliance is also equalised for excellent linearity in the low range and at low signal levels.
Angled Tweeter Design High Linearity Suspension Dampers
To bring out the wide dynamic range of digital sources, a damper needs to be strong and resilient. Polyamide fibre has precisely these characteristics, assuring lively yet accurate musical reproduction. This high-performance suspension maintains tight control throughout rapid sequences of strong transients, and faithfully tracks the rising edge of difficult-to-handle pulsive waveforms. By giving the tweeter a 10-degree upward firing angle, this design helps assure that the highly directional mid-high-range tones reach the listeners ears more directly. The result is a clear stereo image and minimal level differences with the low range, thereby supporting high-quality music reproduction.
