High Blood Pressure: A Very Common Complaint
Outstanding performance and quality
Panasonic (NAiS) is a leading manufacturer of blood pres sure monitors. In 1993 the market for medical devices was revolutionized by NAiS: a blood pressure watch that provided for convenient wrist readings for the very first time. In 2004 NAiS became Panasonic and continues to set standards in efficient measurement technology.
High blood pressure as top risk in modern lives
Variations in blood pressure are not normally cause for con cern. The pressure in your blood vessels changes according to your lifestyle stress at work, physical exertion, changes in mood. However, if blood pressure constantly exceeds the normal value (140/90 mmHg) even when at rest, it becomes a risk. High blood pressure is one of the most common complaints in todays civilization: it affects 1 in 7 people. If left untreated, it may lead to kidney failure, and in the worst case to a heart attack or stroke. You cannot tell whether your blood pressure is normal or not.
Blood pressure monitor with top marks
The high quality of our monitors has been repeatedly confirmed by Germanys consumer association Stiftung Warentest in 1998, 2001, 2005, 2006 and 2008. In 2006, the EW3106 upper arm monitor was awarding a GOOD rating (2.5). In the current, 1/2008 Test, the Panasonic EW3006 was given a GOOD mark (2.4). The experts were particularly impressed by the functionality of this monitor, thanks to its simple usage. In 2007, the German Hypertension Society (DHL) awarded its seal of quality approval to the EW3152 blood pressure monitor. In 2009, the EW3106 and EW3109 monitors passed European Hypertension Society (ESH) testing.

Only daily measurements provide security
Blood pressure readings taken by your doctor are merely snapshots. Agitation and tension while at the doctors office may falsify measured values. To get high blood pressure un der control it is important for you to know about your values. At least 30 individual readings are required to correctly as sess your blood pressure. It is only by measuring your blood pressure every day that you can familiarize yourself with your body and see how your lifestyle affects your blood pressure levels. Such knowledge will help you to manage this disease. Panasonic has a high storage capacity (up to 540 for the EW-BU60) to help you take regular readings and an alarm to remind you to take a reading (EW-BU60 and EW3039).

The heart pumps blood through the body, so supplying it with essential oxygen. But your circulation will only work properly if the heartbeat is regular. This is why it is important to con stantly check this cardiovascular system via the pulse.

What is morning high blood pressure?
Blood pressure is controlled by a body clock, which is closely linked to the day/night cycles of the body: At night the circulation is damped down to rest the body. Once you have woken up, your blood pressure goes into top gear (140/90 mmHg), preparing your body for the activities of the coming day. The blood vessels constrict, with pulse rate and blood pressure reaching their maximum level. If blood pressure is extremely high in the morning compared with the evening, this can be risky for people suffering from high blood pressure. Comparative measurements of blood pressure values in the morning and the evening will help to detect dangerously high levels in the morning. Studies show that the risk of a stroke is 3 times higher for people with high blood pressure in the morning than for patients whose blood pressure only increases moderately in the morning. The risk of having a heart attack or experien cing sudden cardiac death is doubled! P anasonic helps you to control the morning high blood pressure risk by providing a test function (EW-BU60, EW3153 and EW3039).

Description

This is how to obtain accurate blood pressure readings ake sure that the cuff is fitted properly and is positioned M level with the heart. Try and relax 5 minutes before measurement. Make sure you are in a comfortable position, but still s itting upright. D o not drink/eat anything or smoke for at least half an hour before measurement. D o not move unnecessarily during measurement and do not speak. Take a break of about 4 to 5 minutes between readings.
