Quickly move closer to the base unit or the call will be terminated within 60 seconds. q The power cord is disconnected. Plug in the power cord.
An alarm tone sounds continuously while using the handset. Static, sound cuts in/out, fades. Interference from other electrical units.
Locate the handset and the base unit away from electrical appliances. q Move closer to the base unit. q Press CH to select a clear channel. q Raise the base unit antenna.
The handset stops working while being used. I cannot store a telephone number in the handset memory. While storing a telephone number in the handset, it starts to ring. I cannot redial by pressing REDIAL. The handset beeps intermittently and/or the RECHARGE indicator flashes. I charged the battery fully, but the RECHARGE indicator flashes. I cannot receive documents by pressing FAX on the handset.
Place the handset on the base unit, and disconnect the power cord to reset the unit. Connect the power cord, and try again.
You cannot store a number while the unit is in the talk or intercom mode. q Do not pause for over 30 seconds while storing a number.
To answer a call, press TALK. The program will be canceled. Store the number again. If the last number dialed was more than 32 digits long, the number will not be redialed Charge the battery fully (p. 22).
Clean the charge contacts and charge again (p. 22). It is time to replace the battery (p. 73). Press FAX until a single beep is heard.

Fax sending

Problem I cannot send documents.
Cause & solution The telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on the unit. Connect to the LINE jack (p. 16). The other partys fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try again. The other partys machine is not a facsimile. Check with the other party. The other partys fax machine rings too many times. Send the fax manually dial the number, confirm the fax tone, then press FAX/START. If your line has special telephone services such as call waiting, the service may have been activated during fax transmission. Connect the unit to a line that does not have these services. The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang up the extension telephone and try again. Try copying the document. If the copied image is clear, there may be something wrong with the other partys machine. The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 74).
