| This is not a PC headset, it works great with my AT&T 2-line desk phone. Slips on easily, ear piece is comfortable. I have had very good luck with most Panasonic products (vs SONY, which for me. L Actual battery performance depends on a combination of how often the handset is in use and how often it is not in use (standby). Dial the phone number, and press {s}. L Speak alternately with the other party. When you finish talking, press {ih}.
Note: L For best performance, use the speakerphone in a quiet environment. L To switch back to the receiver, press {C}. Adjusting the receiver or speaker volume Press {^} or {V} repeatedly while talking. Making a call using the redial list The last 10 phone numbers dialled are stored in the redial list (each 24 digits max.).

Pause (for PBX/long distance service users)

Using the base unit
When a call is being received, the in use indicator flashes rapidly.

Press {s} when the unit rings. Speak into the microphone. When you finish talking, press {s}.

Operating additional units

Deregistering a handset A handset can cancel its own registration (or the registration of another handset) that is stored in the base unit. This allows the handset to end its wireless connection with the system. L Do not use more than one repeater at a time. Setting the repeater mode

You can increase the signal range of the base unit by using a DECT repeater. Please use only the Panasonic DECT repeater noted on page 4. Contact your Panasonic dealer for details. Important: L Before registering the repeater to this base unit, you must turn the repeater mode on.

Using Caller ID service
Important: L This unit is Caller ID compatible. To use Caller ID features, you must subscribe to a Caller ID service. Contact your service provider/ telephone company for details.

When an outside call is being received, the callers phone number is displayed. Caller information for the last 50 callers is logged in the caller list from the most recent call to the oldest. L If the unit cannot receive caller information, the following is displayed: Out of Area: The caller dials from an area which does not provide a Caller ID service. Private Caller: The caller requests not to send caller information. L If the unit is connected to a PBX system, caller information may not be properly received. Contact your PBX supplier. Missed calls If a call is not answered, the unit treats it as a missed call and y is displayed. This lets you know if you should view the caller list to see who called while you were away. Even if only one missed call in the caller list is viewed (page 29), y disappears from the display. When you receive another new call, y is displayed again. Answering system
The answering system can answer and record calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone. You can also set the unit to play a greeting message but not to record caller messages. Select Greeting Only as the recording time setting (page 36). Important: L Only 1 person can access the answering system (listen to messages, record a greeting message, etc.) at a time. L When callers leave messages, the unit records the day and time of each message. Make sure the date and time have been set correctly (page 16).

Character entry
The dial keys are used to enter characters and numbers. Each dial key has multiple characters assigned to it. The available character entry modes are Alphabet (ABC), Numeric (0-9), Greek (F), Extended 1 (G), Extended 2 (H), and Cyrillic (I). When in these entry modes except Numeric, you can select which character is entered by pressing a dial key repeatedly. Press {<} or {>} to move the cursor. Press dial keys to enter characters and numbers. Press {C/T} to erase the character or number highlighted by the cursor. Press and hold {C/T} to erase all characters or numbers. Press {*} to switch between uppercase and lowercase. To enter another character located on the same dial key, press {>} to move the cursor to the next space, then press the appropriate dial key.
I cannot hear a dial tone.
I do not know how to erase y (Missed call) from the display.

Programmable settings Problem I have changed the display language to a language I cannot read. While programming, the handset starts to ring. I cannot register a handset to a base unit. Cause/solution L Change the display language (page 16).
L A call is being received. Answer the call and start again after hanging up. L The maximum number of handsets (6) is already registered to the base unit. Cancel unused handset registrations from the base unit (page 28). L You entered the wrong PIN. If you forget your PIN, see I cannot remember the PIN. (page 46). L Place the handset and the base unit away from other electrical appliances. L Change the PIN using the following method.

Caller ID Problem Caller information is not displayed. Cause/solution L You must subscribe to a Caller ID service. Contact your service provider/telephone company for details. L If your unit is connected to any additional telephone equipment, remove and plug the unit directly into the wall jack. L If you use a DSL/ADSL service, we recommend connecting a DSL/ADSL filter between the base unit and the telephone line jack. Contact your DSL/ADSL provider for details. L Other telephone equipment may be interfering with this unit. Disconnect the other equipment and try again. L Depending on your service provider/ telephone company, the unit may display the callers information at 2nd ring or later. L Move closer to the base unit. L Incorrect time information from incoming Caller ID changes the time. Set the time adjustment to off (page 26).

Answering system Problem The unit does not record new messages. Cause/solution L The answering system is turned off. Turn it on (page 31). L The message memory is full. Erase unnecessary messages (page 33). L The recording time is set to Greeting Only. Change the setting (page 36). L If you subscribe to the voice mail service, messages are recorded by your service provider/telephone company not your telephone. Change the units number of rings setting or contact your service provider/ telephone company (page 35). L Record your own greeting message again (page 32).

L The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer. L You are entering the wrong remote access code. If you have forgotten your remote access code, enter the remote access code setting to check your current code (page 34). L Press each key firmly. L The answering system is turned off. Turn it on (page 35). L You are using a rotary/pulse telephone. Try again using a touch-tone phone. L A call is being received. Answer the call and try again later.
I cannot operate the answering system remotely.
While recording a greeting message or listening to messages, the unit rings and recording stops. Liquid damage Problem Liquid or other form of moisture has entered the handset/base unit.
Cause/solution L Disconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord from the base unit. Remove the batteries from the handset and leave to dry for at least 3 days. After the handset/base unit are completely dry, reconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord. Insert the batteries and charge fully before use. If the unit does not work properly, contact your nearest Panasonic service centre.
Caution: L To avoid permanent damage, do not use a microwave oven to speed up the drying process.
