I debated whether I should get the new 2010 Lumix for over $375-399...or buy this lumix (last years version).

Just one word : Great! The right moment to buy a TZ7(lower prices but still pretty new technology). Excellent pictures and astonishing HD movies. Replaced a lost TZ5. Nice update. Like the screen, video mode, antishake, wideangle. A couple of niggles. Extra feature set make this a nice upgrade from my previous TZ5 No

Almost as good as my Digital SLR We had some problems with the one we purchased from Amazon but Panasonic took care of it quickly and with a surprise. One of the best portable point-and-shoot cameras, and a steal at the price After owning a Canon EOS SLR (in the old days of 35mm film).
gfranken 5:01pm on Friday, March 19th, 2010
excellent point and shoot camera for the price zoom - very clear zoom at a long range exposure - on ia setting. I just got this camera and bought a spare battery. I have a Cannon 35mm SLR film camera. I also have the 40D Cannon. I have a Sony cybershot 8.1 MP. The Lumix is the best of the lot, if portability.

Pressing and holding the button for over 5 seconds will select <Progressive Scan> and <Interlace Scan> alternately. When you select P.SCAN, "P.SCAN" will appear on the display. METHOD 2 (supplied)

METHOD 1
What is Progressive (or Non-Interlaced) Scanning?
Interlaced Scan (1 FRAME = 2 FIELDS)
Progressive Scan (FULL FRAME)
METHOD 1 : Progressive Scan Component Video. (Best Quality)
If your television is equipped with Component Video inputs, connect a Component video cable(not supplied) from the Component Video Output (Pr, Pb and Y) jacks on the back of the DVD Player to the Component Video Input jacks on your TV.
In interlaced-scan video, a frame consists of two interlaced fields (odd and even), where each field contains every other horizontal line in the frame. The odd field of alternating lines is displayed first, and then the even field is displayed to fill in the alternating gaps left by the odd field to form a single frame. One frame, displayed every 1/30th of a second, contains two interfaced fields, thus a total of 60 fields are displayed every 1/60th of a second. The interlaced scanning method is intended for capturing a still object. The progressive scanning method scans one full frame of video consecutively down the screen, line by line. An entire image is drawn at one time, as opposed to the interlaced scanning process by which a video image is drawn in a series of passes. The progressive scanning method is desirable for dealing with moving objects.
METHOD 2 : Composite Video. (Good Quality)
Connect the supplied Video cable from the VIDEO OUT jack on the back of the DVD Player to the VIDEO IN jack on your TV.
When the Progressive scan mode(480p Only) is selected, the VIDEO output (Yellow) does not output

any signal.

This function works only on TVs equipped with component video inputs (Y, Pr, Pb) that support Progressive Video. (It does not work on TVs with conventional component inputs, i.e., non-progressive scan TVs.) Depending on the capabilities of your TV, this function may not work.
