Educational Support

What are the stages of learning to play a song and how are they organized within the course? The first stage of learning a song is to practice the parts for each hand separately. The next stage then, is to practice the parts hands together. The Tritone Music Series has carefully organized each stage through out the module so that students learn more than one song at different stages. Once the student can play a song hands together, they will go to the Creative Room where they will learn some arranging ideas for their song. Once they have mastered the arranging ideas, they will go to the recording Studio where they will record their arrangement for their virtual CD. How does each student create his or her own virtual CD? A student creates their virtual CD by performing and recording, in the Recording Studio, the song arrangement they learned in the Creative Room. They will get three chances to record their song and Egg Head (the computer) will select the best performance for their virtual CD. How is the course structurally organized? The course consists of a series of learning modules and an exam module. Each learning module is divided into units and a quiz. The topics in each unit are divided into chapters that consist of lessons and activities as well as a review, summary and work sheet. Throughout the units of each module, great care has been placed on providing continuous reinforcement of the concepts taught. As a student progresses through each unit, they are introduced to songs in the appropriate learning stages. As an overall motivational goal, each student has the opportunity to create their own virtual CD by recording the arranged songs they have learned to play. What does the student learn in each room? The Music Room The Music Room is where Freddy Forte has prepared a series of lessons and activities that will teach you the fundamentals of music (ie. theory, terms and definitions, etc.) The Practice Room Once you have learned all the things you need to know from Freddy Forte, you can go to the Practice Room where Major Metronome will coach you on how to play a song. Using the specially designed Javatrax. sequencer, you will be able to play, practice and record each hand of a song separately or together, select a few measures at a time or the entire song, change sounds, mute parts, print out your music, plus much more! And the coolest part about Javatrax is that it will send your performanceto Egg Head, the Music Master, to evaluate so youll know what areas you have mastered and what areas still need work. The Creative Room Once you have mastered playing a song hands together, Jazmyn will teach you how to create some musical arranging ideas for your song in the Creative Room. You will be able to open up Javatrax in the Creative Room so that you can practice, record and master your new ideas for Head Egg, the Music Master.

The Recording Studio Once you have mastered your song with the creative arranging ideas Jazmyn has taught you, then you are ready to make a cut on your CD and record your song for Jack and Patch in the Recording Studio. You will get three tries to make a cut and they will pick your best performance for your CD. If you go to My CD when you login in, youll be able to listen to your CD. Agent Giggy Agent Giggy wants to make you famous! She is always very busy at work promoting you and your CD. She appears once in a while to let you know that she has booked you to play at some special event somewhere in the world. How does the teacher monitor the progress of their class or of an individual student? By entering CourseWatch with your teacher login number and password, you will be able to view your individual class statistics and the progress of each student within your class. And because CourseWatch is web-based, youll be able to monitor your students anytime, anywhere. How does the teacher control what areas of the course the student has access to? During the process of setting up your classes and assigning your students in CourseWatch, you can select which part of the course you would like a student to have access to. They can have access to the entire course, to one module, or to an individual unit(s). What types of learning are addresses in the Tritone Music Series? The Tritone Music Series was designed to address all types of learning: aural (voice over instruction), visual (text instruction) and kinetic (hands-on interactive learning with a music instrument) What musical elements are taught in the Tritone Music Series? The Tritone Music Series is a well-rounded, comprehensive, and applied music education system that teaches you the fundamentals of music and performance. Based on proven popular music teaching method, students are taught music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, improvisation, music appreciation, singing, arranging, and history. Does this program have to be taught in a music lab? No. The internet has now become the music lab meaning that students can connect a keyboard to any computer in the school. How long should it take a student to complete Beginner Music 1? There is approximately 30 hours of instruction time in Beginner Music 1. Each unit takes approximately 1 hour to complete. This does not factor in time spent repeating lessons and activities or practice time. Is the Tritone Music Series available in other languages? Yes.
