| I had Best Buy install this product. It is extremely easy to use. The reason this is called parrot is because you have to keep repeating yourself for the voice dial feature to understand you. | |

| I strongly recommend it. A friend is getting one too after my recommendation. To be able to connect to media devices is a great plus too. I installed the MK6100 in my Ford Explorer. After spending an additional $60 for a wiring harness to make it compatible with my radio. | |

3200LS FAQ 1. What is the pairing code? o The pairing code for the 3200LS is different each time and will be displayed when a phone attempts to pair. o If the pairing code does not automatically appear during the pairing process than a code can be forced to appear by going to Settings -> Pair with Phone -> Other Phone. o Special paring modes exist for some phones. If your phone is listed in the pair list use that mode. In the U.S. Most SonyEriccson phones will need a mode and Nextel phones will need IDEN phone SETTING> PAIR WITH PHONE> IDEN PHONES o Most Windows phones will use OTHER PHONES, not WINDOWS CE. Most U.S. PDAs are running Windows Mobile for SmartPhones, or Windows Mobile for Pocket PC, not Windows CE. 2. Phone says unable to connect when pairing attempted, what is wrong? o This can be caused by a number of issues: Occasionally, all Bluetooth connection attempts fail for no apparent reason. Always try again before proceeding to the steps below. Make sure that the pairing code of the kit is inserted correctly. Some phones, especially PDA/Smart phones need to have the numbers lock on for numbers to be inserted. Also, for many of these phones, pressing enter on the keypad will not only send the pairing code, but add enter as part of the passkey. Therefore, it is important to verify that only numbers are being inserted and then the directions on your phones screen are followed. Check your phone's manual. Make sure that the paired device list of the kit is not full. The kit can only have up to 5 devices in its listing. If there are five devices, one will need to be deleted before a new one can be added. Make sure the paired device list of the phone is not full. The amount of devices a phone will allow varies by phone, so please check your phones users manual. Make sure that the memory of the kit is not full. This can be checked under Settings Information. The second line down should give the amount of free memory available. If the memory is low or full, deleting a paired device is the only way to free up memory. If the above steps do not work, it may be the case where the Bluetooth on the phone just needs to be reset. In some cases, this may be done by just turning off Bluetooth, then turning it back on. However, most cases will require a soft reset of the phone. This
can be done by pulling the battery on the phone and then reinserting it. How do I delete a paired device? o A paired device may be deleted by going to Settings > Paired devices and select the device to be deleted scroll down to and select DELETE and when the kit asks if you are sure, press the green button. It is recommended that this is done for all devices that are not in use to free up space. How much memory is on the 3200LS? o The 3200LS has a memory of 2400KB. This memory is shared by all the paired devices. Callers say I sound like I am talking in a tunnel. What can I do? o Your car kit is a speaker phone and will always sound different than a handset connection. Keep in mind that many people will complain about audio quality without ever mentioning that they dont feel comfortable talking on speaker phones. For an objective evaluation of call quality on the other end, call a number where you can leave a voice message and listen to it yourself. Id like to optimize how I sound when talking on the car kit. What can I do? o The Parrot microphone is very directional. Therefore, it not only needs to be pointed toward the user, but toward their mouth. Verify that the microphone is pointed directly toward the users mouth without any obstructions between. Callers are hearing a lot of noise on the call. What can I do to fix that? o This can be caused by various things: Most installers generally get the best audio quality by placing the microphone above the rear-view mirror, pointed directly at the mouth of the user. The microphone should not have any obstructions between it and the user. Make sure that no vents or speakers are directed toward the microphone. Road and drive train vibrations in the steering column and dashboard may make them unsuitable locations for the microphone. The microphone sensitivity may be turned up too high. This can be turned down by going into Settings > Sounds >Volume > Microphone volume and then turning the dial to adjust as necessary. Convertible top and some sunroof equipped vehicles may require adding a common foam windscreen to the microphone. I have made several changes under the Settings menu and when I go back later they have returned to the original values. What can I do? o Once a configurable setting is at the optimum level, press the black center knob to lock it in as the default o If this does not work there may be a wiring problem
When you turn off the vehicle the Parrot should say Good Bye on the screen. If it doesn't your ignition line is not hooked up correctly. Usually the easiest way to fix this is to switch the Red and Orange wires at the fuse holders. 9. How do I go into Discreet mode? o The Discreet mode can be entered by pressing the green button while on a single line call. Pressing the Green button on the kit will transfer the speaker audio to the phone. If you would like to have the call go back to the speakers, then hit the green button on the kit again. o While you have two calls connected, pressing the Green button only toggles between the two calls. 10. What are the keywords? o The keywords are used for voice recognition. The phone keywords are used to answer a call. It can be used without needing to press any button on the kit. When not in a call, the kit will always listen for the phone keyword, for this reason, it is recommended that the phone keyword is recorded as something longer than one syllable. o The keywords home, work, and cellular are used for contacts with multiple numbers. If your contacts on the kit do not have multiple numbers, these keywords do not need to be recorded. 11. How do I use the keywords? o The phone keyword may be used at any time. The kit is always listening for this keyword. It can be used to answer a call or to start voice recognition. To use it to start voice recognition, just say the keyword and wait for the beep. o The home, work, and cellular keywords are only used for contacts that have multiple numbers. This will allow the kit to know which number to dial. For example, say there is a contact John Smith with a work, home, and cell number and you would like to call his cell. The user would say the phone keyword or press the green button. After the car kit beeps, you would then say the contacts voice tag, in this case John Smith. Since John Smith has multiple numbers, the kit will beep one more time. The user would then say the cellular keyword to dial his cell phone. 12. Can I switch between my phones voice recognition and the car kits? o The 3200LS will allow you to use either the kits voice recognition or the phones (assuming the phone has voice recognition that works over Bluetooth). This can be switched by going to Settings > Voice commands -> Select Voice recognition then selecting either handsfree for the kits voice recognition or phone for the phones voice recognition. 13. What if my phone will not synchronize the phonebook or send contacts via Bluetooth? o The 3200 can store up to 1000 number, meaning if you have a contact that has 4 numbers in it (Home, Office, Cell, Other) that one contact counts as
four numbers. Once you reach the 1000 number limit the kit will no longer accept contacts. First of all, there are very few phones that are both unable to synchronize and unable to send contacts. So, make sure the next phone you buy supports at least one of these features. Your Parrot car kit is going to last a lot longer than your current phone. In the meantime, you may be limited to voice dialing features available in the phone itself, consult with customer support for specific recommendations. If your phone has built-in voice recognition that requires training, you may have to selectively re-train when connected to the car kit for best results. You can usually create duplicate contacts if you need car kit and handset voice tags for the same person. Otherwise, there can be one set of contacts that are trained to dial from the car kit and others that are trained with the phone in handheld mode. If you have a phone with voice recognition that does not require training to the users voice, it should work with the car kit too. When out on the road, most users report that Parrot voice tags are significantly more accurate than voice recognition built into the phone. If you experience issues with voice recognition accuracy on your phone, quiet the vehicle interior as much as you can and speak calmly and clearly. Alternately, any Bluetooth device that can send contacts can be used to populate your car kit phonebook. On the 3200LS, allow the phone to connect automatically and then go to Settings > Contacts Management > Receive Contacts. In this mode, you can use other Bluetooth devices to send contacts to the kit and have them associated with your phone when connected. This phonebook will be available until the kit is updated, the phone pairing is deleted or the vehicle battery is disconnected. You can download the Parrot VCF creator from out website. This will allow you to create a single vCard out of all of the contacts synced with Microsoft Outlook and then send this one file via Bluetooth from your PC, or synced back to your Phone and send from their. The Parrot will take this single vCard and split it into all of you different contacts http://www.parrot.com/usa/support/downloads the.rar file contains the program and the instructions for using it. To be able to open this file you will need a program such as 7-Zip http://www.7-zip.org or WinAce http://www.winace.de
14. Does the kit have voice digit dial? o Parrot car kits do not support voice digit dialing. However, if the phone used has voice recognition with voice digit dialing, and the voice recognition works over Bluetooth, then it may be used. Ensure that you have voice recognition set to PHONE. Settings->Voice Cmmds->Select Voice Recognition-> Phone o Some users report they are able to use a button on the phone to trigger phone-side voice recognition for digit dialing while keeping the more accurate Parrot voice tags to dial from the synchronized phone book. 15. How do I delete contacts?
o Contacts may be deleted by going to Settings > Contacts Management > Delete all contacts. This will allow you to delete all contacts at one time. o To delete individual contacts go to Settings > Contacts Management > Phonebook Management > Select a contact > Scroll down and select Delete. Once the contact(s) to be deleted are selected, the car kit will ask if you are sure, at this time press the green button. o Only contacts that were manually pushed to the kit (as opposed to automatically synchronized) can be deleted individually. 16. How do I record a voice tag? o Voice tags for a contact can be recorded by going to Settings > Contacts Management > Phonebook Management > Select the desired contact > Select Record voice tag. Once record voice tag is selected, the kit will beep. After the beep, say the contacts desired voice tag. If the car kit hears it, the screen should say recording successful. Then press the green button, once again the kit will beep. Repeat the contacts desired voice tag. If the two matches close enough, the kit will play the voice tag and save it into memory. 17. How do I delete a voice tag? o A voice tag may be deleted by going to Settings > Contacts Management > Phonebook Management > select the contact to have its voice tag deleted scroll down and select delete voice tag. 18. How do I use the car kits voice recognition? o The phone keyword may be used at any time. The kit is always listening for this keyword. It can be used to answer a call or by starting voice recognition. To use it to start voice recognition, just say the keyword and wait for the beep. o The home, work, and cellular keywords are only used for contacts on the kit that have multiple numbers. 19. How can the screens brightness be adjusted? o The screens brightness can be adjusted by going under Settings > Display > Brightness. It is here that you will be able to adjust brightness and contrast. o If you hold down the green and the red button at the same time, you can move the screen to night mode and back to day mode. 20. Can I adjust the spoken menus volume? o The spoken menus volume may be adjusted by going to Settings > Sounds > Volume > Spoken menu volume. Then turn the center dial to adjust as necessary. 21. How can the software be updated on the car kit?
WARNING A rare but possible error could occur during the upgrade procedure thereby making your kit unusable. Therefore updates should not be done unless instructed to do so by Technical Support. Updates are made to address specific issues and may change the functionality of your phone and the kit. o The software on the kit can be updated in one of two ways. The first is through flash cables that your dealer/installer should have and be able to do the update for you. If your dealer does not have flash cables, please have them contact technical support to request a Dealer Flash Kit The second is through a Bluetooth enabled Windows PC or laptop. A Bluetooth USB adapter may be used if the computer does not come with integrated Bluetooth. Ensuret that you follow the step by step instructions for doing the update by downloading the 3200LS Color Flash procedure (PDF) from http://www.parrot.com/usa/support/downloads After performing an update, you must delete the 3200LS from your phones Bluetooth settings and search for new devices to repair. You may experience functionality issues if you use the existing profile in the phone. 22. My phone isnt under the pair with phone option, how should I pair my phone? o Most phones do not need to use a pairing mode. The special pairing modes listed are for phones that have specific problems. Normally, to begin an initial pairing all that needs to be done is to have the kit turned on; within thirty feet of the phone and to make sure that no other devices are currently connected to the kit. The phone can then do a search for the kit and when it finds it, attempt to connect. 23. Does the car kit do call waiting? o Call waiting will work, the functionally depends on the phone. o The car kit does have the ability to do call waiting for GSM phones. This can be done by pressing the green button when a second call comes in. Unfortunately, at this time many CDMA and IDEN phones do not have the ability to do call waiting on the kit. 24. Can I mute the microphone? o The kit does not have a muting function for the microphone. o If you press the mute button on your phone it will mute your outgoing Bluetooth audio. o You can put the kit into Discreet Mode transferring all audio to the handset by pressing the green button on the kit. 25. Can I turn off the kit while I am driving? o With normal installations, the kit will not be able to turn off while driving. However you can have your installer install an after market power switch.
You also can disconnect from your phone, by going to Settings >Paired Devices > Select the phone > scroll down and select Disconnect, so that all the calls are directed to the handset. o You also can transfer the call to the handset by tapping the green button while a call is in progress 26. How can I reset the car kit? o The kit does not have a reset button, but can be cleared in two ways: The kit can be cleared by deleting all paired devices. The kit will be cleared by doing a software update. 27. How do I decline a call? o To decline a call on the kit, just hit the red button or ignore it and let the call ring to voice mail. 28. Does the kit have an automatic answer option? o The kit does have an automatic answer option. This can be found under Settings >Automatic answer then select on. 29. Can multiple phones be connected to the kit at the same time? o While multiple phones can be paired to the kit at one time, only one phone may actually be connected to the kit at any given time. Bluetooth is like an invisible cable that directly connects one device to another device. 30. What happens when multiple phones that have been paired to the kit are in the car at the same time? o The car kit will attempt to connect to the default phone. If that phone is not in range of the kit, it will then attempt to connect to the next phone in the list. 31. How many phones can be paired to the kit? o The car kit can have up to five paired devices, but only one may be connected to the kit at a time. Bluetooth is like an invisible cable that directly connects one device to another device 32. How many voice tags can be made on the kit? o The car kit can hold up to 150 voice tags. 33. Can the kit send stored contacts to another phone? o The kit does not have the ability to send any of its information out to the phone. It can receive contacts, but can not send the contacts. 34. Can others see my contacts when Im not in the vehicle? o Typically, contacts for a specific user are not visible unless that users phone is connected. Users with privacy concerns are advised to double check. 35. If the kit is updated, will it keep all my information on it? o Updates to the kit will completely wipe all information on the car kit. Each phone will need to be re-paired to the kit, contacts will need to be resent, and voice recognition will need to be recorded once again. 36. After installation, the radio works fine, the caller can hear me, but I cant hear the caller. Whats wrong? o The installation is probably wired backwards with phone audio directed back to the radio instead of out to the front speakers. Refer to the downloadable Color LS Wiring Reference for more information. o
o If the kit has worked before, a soft reset of the phone will most likely fix this. A soft reset can be done by taking the battery out of the phone for a few seconds and then putting it back in. 37. I have an external speaker and the volume is too low even when turned all the way up. What can I do? o If this is the case, the reason for the problem is a high impedance speaker. It is recommended to use a four ohm six watt speaker. For more audio, a lower impedance speaker (as low as 2 ohms) or two external 4 to 6 ohm speakers may be used. Also, make sure the proper wires are used to connect to the speaker. Only the white and white/black pair or the gray and gray/black pair of wires from the black male pin connector (the larger of the two connectors) can be used. The loose thin brown and white wires are a 600 ohm / 750 mVrms, line level output and will not be able to drive an external speaker. Also, the rear-channel outputs do not carry any phone audio and therefore can not be used. 38. My radio stays muted even after a call has ended. Whats wrong? o This is an installation problem that commonly occurs when the Parrot Mute line is used to directly control a relay. All relays that are driven by electronic boxes should have a common rectifier diode (1N4xxx series or equivalent) placed across the relay coil with the stripe pointing towards the battery. Without a protection diode to absorb the reverse EMF or kickback when the relay coil current stops flowing, the Parrot mute circuit locks up. 39. I want to use the Parrot Mute line to control a high current source. Can I do that? o It is recommended that a diode-protected relay with a switching current of 250mA or less is used. 40. I want to shutdown an amplifier instead of muting the radio. How can I do that? o Wire the front speakers between the amplifier and speakers and use the two Violet/Black wires (RR- rear speaker circuit) to interrupt the vehicles Amplifier Enable line. For this configuration to work, the Violet wire (RR+) should not be connected to anything. It does not matter which direction the signal goes through the Parrot Mute Relay assembly because the rear speaker circuits are only interrupted and not switched to phone audio. 41. My car kit keeps losing all of its information after I turn my car off. Whats wrong? o This may be one of two issues: Check to make sure that the fuse on the battery line is still good and the battery line connections are still good. Check to make sure that the battery line is in fact connected to the battery and not also tied in with the ignition line. This can be confirmed if your kit simply shuts off instead of saying Goodbye on the screen before it powers down. When the kit says Goodbye it is saving all the current settings, and when the wires are reversed, it skips this step. Fix the fuses, and your issue will be resolved
42. My car kit is always on even after the car is turned off. Whats wrong? o Check the battery and ignition lines. If both lines are connected to the battery, switch the ignition line to a switched source. If one is connected to a switched source and the other to a constant source, then just switch the two lines at the fuses. 43. The screen has a white screen, but my Bluetooth still works. Whats wrong? o The software on the screen is not good call customer support. The screen will need to be updated using a flash cable. Customer support will be able to provide a local dealer location. 44. The screen has a white screen and Bluetooth no longer works. Whats wrong? o The software on the screen is not good call customer support. The screen will need to be updated using a flash cable. Customer support will be able to provide a local dealer location. 45. The screen is completely blank, but the red and green lights are on. Whats wrong? o The screen is defective, call customer support. 46. Theres no audio going to my external speaker. Whats wrong? o Check the wires connected to the speaker. The only wires that will provide the output necessary to drive the speaker is the white and white/black pair or the gray and gray/black pair of wires from the bigger of the two black connectors. 47. My settings are never saved when I turn my kit off and back on again, why? o This is most likely because the Ignition and Battery fuses are reversed. This can be confirmed if your kit simply shuts off instead of saying Goodbye on the screen before it powers down. When the kit says Goodbye it is saving all the current settings, and when the wires are reversed, it skips this step. Fix the fuses, and your issue will be resolved 48. My kit can't be installed in my particular vehicle o Parrot kits can be installed in any vehicle using the Basic installation approach and one or two external speaker(s). A Basic installation requires only three wires be connected to the vehicle wiring (Battery/Ignition/Ground). With a Basic install, the user manages the entertainment audio manually. A Basic installation can be later upgraded to a fully integrated system with automatic muting and phone audio on the car speakers. This approach works very well when the customer wants a plug-n-play harness adapter that is not in stock or still under development. o Plug N' Play adapters are available from several third party companies, including. Quick Connect Products, LLC <http://www.parrotkits.com> and WaveBlue <http://www.parrotconnect.com> 49. I have an amplifier and the audio quality is not what is should be. o When phone audio is heard on more than two speakers in the vehicle, the digital signal processing functions are overly burdened with echo cancellation causing overall audio quality to suffer.
o The Parrot 3200LS needs to be installed between the Amp and the speakers. Refer to the downloadable Color LS Wiring Reverence and the Simplified Parrot Installation Guide for how-to information. http://parrot.helpserve.com 50. Can I use these small loose wires to install the Parrot? o The White/Brown and Red/Black pairs is a low-level (750mVrms/600 ohm) line output and will not be able to drive a standard speaker. The line-level outputs are only used for expert-level custom integrations or when the radio has a line-level phone input. 51. Why don't my pictures show up on the caller ID? My phone was able to sync the contacts, but the photos I have on associated with the contact are not showing up on the 3200. o Most phones will not automatically synchronize the picture associated with a contact to the kit. However, the kit will allow pictures to be sent to the kit to be associated with a contact. This can be done by the following procedure: On the kit go to Settings > Contacts Management > Phonebook Management > Select a contact > Select Associate Photo. This will put the car kit in picture receiving mode. All that needs to be done at this point is to push a picture over from another Bluetooth device (computer, phone, PDA, etc.) 52. How do I send wallpapers to the car kit? o To send a wallpaper to the car kit, the kit must be in picture receiving mode. To do this go to Settings > Display > Wallpaper > Add new Wallpaper. A picture may now be sent from another Bluetooth device (computer, phone, PDA, etc.) to the kit. 53. What are the specifications for a wallpaper image? o A wallpaper must be in the JPEG format, be less than 994.8kB, and have a resolution of 1600 x 1200 or less. Please keep in mind that the max size also depends on how much memory is available on the kit. 54. What are the specifications for a contacts image? o A contacts picture must be in the JPEG format, be less than 29.5kB, and have a resolution of 640 x 480 or less. 55. Will I void my warranty if I cut into the factory system? o In the United States you will not void your warranty. This is protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637), federal statue (15 U.S.C. 2301 et seq.) 56. How can the car kit be installed so that my OnStar will still work? o If your car has built in OnStar, whether active or inactive. You will need to install the car kit using the GM Cell V2 harness by Soundgate. This will ensure that your OnStar's emergency features will still work even while on the phone. Even if your OnStar is inactive they system will still send an emergency signal if your airbags go off. Without this special harness the operators will be unable to hear anyone in the vehicle and will automatically send EMS. If it ends up being a non-emergency this could result in a hefty fine. o You will want to utilize the microphone that comes with the Parrot kit for audio, and not splice in your OnStar microphone.
