As I was already a Pentax Convert (I have an old K1000, an ME, an MZ-30 and an MZ-S) I found this camera just as great. Small and light, fast start up and fast acurate auto focus.

I am a long time Pentax user since the days of the Asahi body with screw mount lens and no light meter. I took with my original Pentax lenses were underexposed a bit Auto, Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Manual, and Bulb exposure modes.

Sure, the *ist D lacks many of the modern â€œgimmickyâ€ features, such as live view, face detection, AF tracking, smile shutter, etc. Just got the camera and having been using my old film lenses on it and it works great. Very good camera, especially for analog Pentax cameras users with K,M lens. For beginners not recommended, rather for intermediates. Small, light.

Big and bright as the Pentax MZ-S SLR film, the first digital SLR camera Pentax would be. The autofocus for all 18-35mm lens is quiet.

Pentax iST D - Digital Camera Superb handling - just like a PentaxZ1P. Easy to switch from one to the other. Clear viewfinder. Pentax istD Digital SLR Lovely to handle and produces superb images. If, like me.

The PENTAX smc P-DA J 16-45mm F4.0 ED/AL is recommended for use with digital cameras.
