The camera is rugged and tough. It can be used outdoors in inclement weather without fear of damage but you must also have a weatherproofed lens.

Do not think twice about buying this. First off, it is the least expensive battery grip for ANY DSLR out there. Your friends with Cannon. Great price for a battery Grip that works great. The service was very fast and effecient. "The grip works overwhelmingly well for the Pentax cameras.

I bought the battery grip so I could have more battery time for my camera and also be able to take horizontal and vertical pictures with ease.

The K200D is a keeper. In-camera Shake Reduction (SR-Pentax, IS-Cannon, VR-Nikon) allows use of any Pentax lenses especially fine FA and D-FA lenses.

Bought this camera for my wife, but find that I use it most of the time. I went with Pentex because I have lenses from my old Pentax that I can use.
Rich 10:01pm on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010
I had the ist DL before this and several point and shoot digitals. The DL was a capable camera for any amateur shooting.

Shake Reduction Function and Lens Focal Length
The Shake Reduction function operates by acquiring the lens information such as focal length. If the camera uses a DA, D FA, FA J, FA or F lens, the lens information is automatically acquired when the Shake Reduction function is activated. [Focal Length] cannot be set on the [Input Focal Length] menu in the [A Rec. Mode] (The menu items cannot be selected). If another type of lens is used, the lens information cannot be automatically acquired even when the Shake Reduction function is activated. In this case, the [Input Focal Length] setting menu appears. Set [Focal Length] manually on the [Input Focal Length] setting menu. 1 Setting the Shake Reduction Function (p.69)
Turning On the Shake Reduction Function
Turn on the Shake Reduction switch.
When the shutter release button is pressed halfway, k appears in the viewfinder and the Shake Reduction function turns on.
Be sure to turn off the Shake Reduction switch when using the camera with a tripod. The Shake Reduction function automatically turns off in the following situations. When using self-timer, 2 sec. self-timer, remote control shooting, remote control (3 sec. delay) shooting, bulb shooting, or wireless mode with an external flash If a type of lens that does not support automatic acquisition of lens information such as focal length is used (p.67), the [Input Focal Length] menu appears. Set [Focal Length] manually on the [Input Focal Length] setting menu. 1 Setting the Shake Reduction Function (p.69) Turn the Shake Reduction switch off if you will not use the Shake Reduction function. The Shake Reduction function will not fully work (for about 2 seconds) right after turning on the camera or restoring from Auto Power Off. Wait for the Shake Reduction function to become stable before gently pressing the shutter release button to take a picture. Press the shutter release button halfway. The camera is ready to take pictures when k appears in the viewfinder. Shake Reduction is available with any x compatible PENTAX lens. However, when the aperture ring is set at other than the s (Auto) position or a lens without an s position is used, the camera does not operate unless [23. Using aperture ring] (see p.76; see p.30 - p.31 for operation method) is set to [Permitted] in the [A Custom Setting] menu. Set this beforehand. Note that some functions are restricted when [23. Using aperture ring] is set to [Permitted] in the [A Custom Setting] menu. Refer to Notes on [23. Using Aperture Ring] (p.230) for details.

While adjusting the shutter speed or aperture value, the difference from the appropriate exposure blinks when it becomes larger than 3.0.

96 Combining with L

Press the L button (p.101) to record the exposure value in a (Manual) mode. If the shutter speed or aperture is then changed, the combination of shutter speed and aperture changes while exposure is retained. Example: If the shutter speed is 1/125 sec and aperture is F5.6 and is recorded with the L button, and the shutter speed is changed to 1/30 sec with the e-dial, the aperture automatically changes to F11.

About the Green Button

The aperture and shutter speed are automatically adjusted to the appropriate exposure at that moment if the Green button is pressed in a (Manual) mode. You can set the adjustment methods in [14. Green button in Manual] in the [A Custom Setting] menu.
Program Line b Shift c Shift Off The aperture and shutter speed are adjusted automatically. The aperture is locked and the shutter speed is adjusted automatically. The shutter speed is locked and the aperture is adjusted automatically. Disables Green button operation while Manual Exposure is set.
Shutter speed is adjusted to appropriate exposure according to lens aperture when lens aperture is not set to s position. 1 Notes on [23. Using Aperture Ring] (p.230)

Using the p (Bulb) Mode

This mode is useful for the long exposures required for shooting night scenes and fireworks. The shutter remains open as long as the shutter release button is kept pressed.

Set the mode dial to p.

EV compensation, Continuous shooting and Exposure Bracket are not available in p (Bulb) mode. Turn the e-dial to adjust the aperture value. Set the aperture value in increments of 1/2 EV or 1/3 EV. Set in [1. EV Steps] in the [A Custom Setting] menu. (p.101) The Shake Reduction function is automatically turned off when exposure mode is set to p (Bulb) mode. Use a sturdy tripod and the cable switch CS-205 (optional) to prevent camera shake when using p (Bulb) mode. Connect the cable switch to the cable switch terminal (p.17). Bulb shooting is available when using the remote control shooting mode (p.120). The shutter remains open as long as the shutter release button of the optional remote control is held down. Noise reduction is a process to reduce noise (image roughness or unevenness) caused by slow shutter speed. Set in [10. Slow Shutter Speed NR] in the [A Custom Setting] menu. (p.85) When the sensitivity is set to [AUTO] and exposure mode is set to p (Bulb) mode, the sensitivity is set to a value equivalent to ISO 100 if the Dynamic Range is set to [Off] and ISO 200 if set to [On].

Shake Reduction is not available in Wireless mode.
139 Wireless Flash Control (P-TTL Flash Mode)
When using external flash units (AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ) for wireless shooting, the following information is exchanged between the flash units before the flash is discharged. Press the shutter release button fully. 1 The flash unit directly connected to the camera emits a control flash (relays the flash mode of the camera). 2 The wireless remote flash unit emits a test flash (relays confirmation of subject). 3 The flash unit directly connected to the camera emits a control flash (relays flash output to the wireless remote flash unit).
* The flash unit directly connected to the camera will emit a control flash one more time after this to relay the flash duration time when HSb (High-speed sync) is set.
4 The wireless remote flash unit discharge as main flash.
When the wireless mode of the external flash directly connected to the camera is set to [MASTER] or [16. Flash in Wireless Mode] (p.138) is set to [On] for the built-in flash, all the flash units will discharge simultaneously.

Red-Eye Reduction

As with the built-in flash, red-eye reduction is available with an external flash. This may not be available on some flashes or may have restrictions for usage conditions. See the chart on p.134.
The red-eye reduction feature works even when only an external flash is used. (p.66) If red-eye reduction of the built-in flash is used when the external flash is set as the slave unit or with the wireless function, the preflash for red-eye reduction will trigger the external flash. Do not use red-eye reduction when using a slave unit.

Trailing Curtain Sync

When using the built-in flash with an external flash (AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ) that is set to the Trailing curtain sync function, the built-in flash will also use this mode. Confirm that both flash units are fully charged before shooting.
Using the Built-in Flash with the External Flash
As shown in the illustration below, attach the Hot Shoe Adapter FG (optional) to the camera hot shoe and an Off-Camera Shoe Adapter F (optional) to the bottom of the external flash, and connect these with the Extension Cord F5P (optional). The Off-Camera Shoe Adapter F can be mounted using the tripod screw to your tripod. Only the P-TTL auto flash can be used in combination with the built-in flash. 5
When combining with the built-in flash
Discharging Multiple Flashes
You can combine two or more external flashes (AF540FGZ, AF360FGZ or AF200FG) or you can use two or more external flashes in combination with the built-in flash. You can use the extension cord connection terminal on the flash to connect the AF540FGZ. You can connect AF360FGZ or AF200FG units as shown in the illustration below. Connect an external flash and the Hot Shoe Adapter F (optional) to the Off-Camera Shoe Adapter F (optional) and then connect another Off-Camera Shoe Adapter F with external flash using the Extension Cord F5P (optional). Refer to the flash manual for details.

The camera returns to the [White Balance] screen. Tune using steps in Fine-Tuning the White Balance if fine-tuning is necessary. (p.154)

156 Color Space

Color ranges for various input/output devices, such as digital cameras, monitors, and printers, differ. This color range is called the Color Space. To recreate different color spaces in different devices, standard color spaces have been proposed. This camera supports sRGB and AdobeRGB. sRGB is mainly used for devices such as a PC. AdobeRGB covers a wider area than sRGB and is used for occupational uses such as industrial printing. An image created in AdobeRGB may appear lighter than an image created in sRGB when output from an sRGB compatible device.

Glossary

AdobeRGB Color space recommended by Adobe Systems, Inc. for commercial printing. Wider range of color reproduction than sRGB. Covers most of the color range so colors only available when printed are not lost when editing images on a computer. When image is opened by non-compatible software, the colors look lighter. AE Metering Brightness of subject is measured to determine exposure. In this camera, select from [Multi-segment Metering], [Center-weighted Metering] and [Spot Metering]. Aperture The aperture increases or reduces the light beam (thickness) passing through the lens to the CCD. Auto Bracket For automatically changing exposure. When the shutter button is pressed, three images are shot. The first one has no compensation, the second is underexposed and the third is over-exposed. Bright Portion Overexposed area in the image loses contrast and appears white. Camera Shake (Blur) When the camera moves while the shutter is open, the entire image appears blurred. This occurs more often when shutter speed is low. Prevent camera shake by raising the sensitivity, using the flash, and raising the shutter speed. Alternatively, use a tripod to stabilize the camera. As camera shake is mostly likely to occur when pressing the shutter release button, use the Shake Reduction function, the self-timer, the remote control unit, or the cable switch to prevent camera movement.
12 CCD (Charge Coupled Devices) Photography element which converts the light entering through the lens into electric signals that create the image.

JPEG An image compression method. In this camera, select from C (Best), D (Better), or E (Good). Images recorded in JPEG format are suited for viewing on your PC or for attaching to e-mail.
ND (Neutral Density) Filter A filter available in different saturation levels that adjusts the brightness without affecting the color tone of pictures. Noise Reduction Process to reduce noise (image roughness or unevenness) caused by slow shutter speed or high sensitivity shooting. NTSC/PAL These are video output formats. NTSC is mainly used in Japan, North America, and South Korea. PAL is mainly used in Europe and in China. Quality Level This refers to the image compression ratio. The lower the compression, the more detailed the image. The image becomes rougher as the compression rate rises. RAW data Unedited image data output from the CCD. RAW data is data before being internally processed by the camera. Camera settings at the time of capture, such as White Balance, Contrast, Saturation, and Sharpness can be set for each frame after shooting. In addition, RAW data is 12 bit data that contains 16 times the information of 8 bit JPEG data. Rich gradations are possible. Transfer RAW data to your computer and use the provided software to create image data with different settings, such as JPEG. Recorded Pixels Indicates the size of the image by the number of pixels. The more pixels that compose a picture, the larger the image size. Shutter Speed The length of time that the shutter is open and light strikes the CCD. The amount of light that strikes the CCD can be changed by altering the shutter speed. sRGB (standard RGB) International standard of color space established by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). This is defined from color space for PC monitors and is also used as the standard color space for Exif.
Vignetting The picture edges are blackened when part of the light coming from the subject is blocked by the hood or filter ring, or when the flash is partially blocked by the lens. White Balance While shooting, color temperature is adjusted to match the light source so that the subject appears to have correct color.

K-mount Heritage

PENTAX has manufactured over 24 million lenses in the last six decades. For every assignment, we believe there needs to be a lens that matches each photographers style amateur and professional alike. PENTAX DSLR bodies offer backward compatibility with each and every one of these lenses.* Choose from our assortment of new DAH, DA Limited and DA lenses specifically designed for use with PENTAX digital SLRs or pull a favorite PENTAX lens from the camera bag. Whichever lens is used, whether the most recent lenses or a classic screw mount, it will faithfully capture the image desired. *With adapter for screw mount and 645/67 lenses. solves one of the oldest photographic problems: blur caused by handheld camera shake. The K Series Digital SLRs produce sharp photos in challenging situations without having to use a tripod. Hand-held photography is now possible with long telephoto lenses or when long exposure times are required due to poor lighting. The PENTAX Shake Reduction system is integrated into the camera body and is independent of the lens in use. The system ensures that at the moment of exposure the compensating movement of the image sensor provides blur-free pictures. The advantage is obvious: you may increase your handheld shooting by 2.5 to 4 stops. PENTAX owns over 30 patents for the SR system, which uses a ball-bearing-mounted oscillator unit with four electromagnets that position the free-floating image sensor. Angular velocity sensors detect camera movement and relay the amount of compensation necessary to the electromagnets that move the sensor to compensate for any shake.

SDM Lens Compatibility

PENTAX DAH Series
K-mount compatibility extends to the high performance smc PENTAX DAH series of lenses. The PENTAX-DAH series delivers the highest level of optical quality and reflects the PENTAX commitment to deliver the ultimate images in digital photography. Bringing together advanced optical technologies, special optical-glass elements and original lens coatings, these interchangeable lenses are superior in terms of contrast, clarity and edge-to-edge sharpness. Each PENTAX DAH series lens feature a tightly sealed, weather-resistant and dust-resistant construction to enhance durability for use in rain or dusty conditions making each a perfect companion for the weather-sealed PENTAX digital SLR. The lenses also feature the PENTAX original Quick-Shift Focus System for instant switching to manual focus operation and PENTAX original SP (Super Protect) coating to repel dust, water and grease. A new SDM system has been incorporated for smoother, quieter autofocus operation using a built-in supersonic motor.

Prime image Processing

The Pentax Real IMage Engine (PRIME) was developed specifically by PENTAX for our cameras in order to meet the performance requirements of higher resolution sensors. The PRIME engine converts the digital signal into the image you desire by assuring truer color tones, a wider dynamic range, and natural looking high ISO images. Ultimately, PRIME provides beautiful, natural results similar to what you see shooting with film. By allowing
Compatibility with SDM lenses that offer silent, accurate auto focus and weather resistance.
customization of the image, the advanced circuitry frees you to focus on the image and capture the perfect shot.

Custom Image Modes

The Custom Image modes on the K20D and K200D give you superior control of how the PRIME processor develops images. These modes apply saturation, hue, contrast and sharpness settings to JPEG images, and give a starting point for RAW image development. There is a choice of six Custom Image modes which include: Bright gives increased saturation, hue, sharpness and contrast for images that are a bit more elaborate or colorful straight from the camera. Natural makes no adjustment to image parameters. This is perfect for photographers who want to maximize an image for post capture manipulation. Portrait decreases contrast and sharpness to give soft, natural skin tones. Landscape increases saturation, contrast and sharpness for beautiful images of the natural world. Vibrant maximizes all parameters to give the brightest colors and enhanced sharpness for the most vivid scenes. B&W mimics the effects of black and white photography, including the effects of color filters. It even adds an infra red filter effect for dramatic monochrome scenes. Plus, each of the Custom Image modes can be further modified to meet your needs. All settings are clearly displayed on the LCD screen with a radar display showing how the settings affect each color.

Custom White Balance

The advanced white balance options of the K20D and K200D allow the perfect capture of the color white. The white balance setting can be selected from seven pre-set options, with three options just for fluorescent lighting, plus a manual white balance setting, and three preset color temperatures. Additionally, each setting can be further fine-tuned to balance even the most difficult lighting conditions. All settings can be verified through the digital preview function.
Adjustable High Sensitivity Noise Reduction
As the sensitivity increases with any camera, so does the possibility of noise. While every effort has been made to minimize the effect of noise, some conditions demand additional noise reduction. However, once noise reduction has been applied to an image, it cannot be reversed. PENTAX bodies give the ability to apply four levels of noise reduction to meet your needs, from no adjustment to strong control of noise.

In-camera Processing

PENTAX DSLR bodies offer an in-camera RAW converter for those times you want to print an image but dont have access to a computer to process the RAW file. The resolution, quality setting, white balance, sensitivity, Custom Image mode, and Noise Reduction may all be adjusted, and the image can be saved either as a JPEG or, new to the K20D and K200D, an 8-bit TIFF file.

Digital Preview

Always know your results before you shoot. The Digital Preview feature allows you to see the shot before actually tripping the shutter release, thus allowing you to verify the camera settings. And now, should your preview happen to be a winning shot, you can save the image as a JPEG file.

Dust/Weather Resistant

Protection From The Elements
Whether youre shooting in a misty, tropical rain forest, on a snowcapped peak, or along a dusty desert trail, the seals around the durable PENTAX DSLR bodies reliably protect the inner components against humidity, moisture and dust particles. The fiber-reinforced polycarbonate body surrounding the high-rigidity, stainless steel chassis provides plenty of strength for every day use. A complete system: the K20D is protected by 72 seals and the optional battery grip with an additional 38 seals, while the K200D has 60 seals in the body and 14 in the grip, assuring complete protection against humidity, dust or sand. PENTAX offers the highest level of protection in either class. Durable and solid: the stainless-steel chassis is also impermeable to corrosion and is extremely stable.

Dust Removal

Behind the Dust Removal designation lays an entire system unto itself. The surface of the low pass filter is sealed with a nanotechnology based fluorine coating. This ensures that dust has a difficult time adhering to the sensor surface. Dust that may remain on the surface is shaken off when the SR system shifts the CCD at high speed. The dust that is shaken off the CCD, then falls onto an adhesive sheet eliminating any possibility of its returning to the CCD surface. Dust flecks are now a thing of the past, along with annoying and time consuming retouching work.

Dust Alert

Occasionally, especially when shooting in humid conditions, the Dust Removal system will not purge all dust specks. If you are shooting in extremely dusty or dirty conditions, the new Dust Alert system will save you from time consuming retouching. This system analyzes the sensor to determine if and where any dust remains after the Dust Removal system is activated. The results are displayed on the LCD screen, showing exactly where any dust remains. The image is reversed so you can quickly pinpoint and remove dust from the sensor itself.

11-point Auto Focus

The K-Series features an 11-point autofocus system. In automatic operation (AUTO) the camera recognizes which object is nearest and chooses that object as the main focus point. For more direct control, select any of the 11 points individually. It is also possible to simply select the center of the image as your main point of focus. With continuous autofocus, the focus adjusts as your subject moves within the frame, or should you prefer more direct control, you may always focus manually.

Flexible RAW Button

The RAW button on PENTAX DSLR bodies allows you to quickly change your file format while shooting without having to navigate through an extensive series of menus. You may customize this button to switch to your preferred format and to either remain at that setting, or remain there for only one exposure.

16-segment Metering

The K-Series easily handles even the most difficult lighting conditions with its 16-segment metering system. The system will accurately assess the balance between the bright and dark areas within the segments automatically, or you may opt for center weighted or spot metering.
Advanced photography involves a serious passion for developing your own ideas and experimenting with approach, subjects and technique. The PENTAX K20D builds on the technology of the award winning K10D and offers the highest resolution camera in the advanced photo enthusiast category with a number of customizable features that are ideal for the more experienced shooter.

The Next Generation

In designing the K20D Digital SLR, PENTAX made the significant transition to a higher resolution 14.6 megapixel sensor, rivaling the detail previously only found in images captured with 35mm film. This considerable gain offers 50 percent more resolution than 10 megapixel sensors, and 20 percent more resolution than 12 megapixel sensors used by our competition. Noise is minimized and maximum sensitivity is achieved by using peripheral circuitry merely 0.13 micro meters thin. This allows the photo diodes in each pixel of the sensor to be maximized at over 40 percent of the total pixel area (typically only 30-35 percent in similar sensors from other manufacturers). It also allows a more direct light path to assure every detail is captured.

14.6 CMOS Sensor

CMOS, or complementary metal-oxide-semiconductors, are a major class of integrated circuits, and CMOS technology is used in a number of electronics including image sensors. Two important characteristics of CMOS devices are high noise immunity and low power consumption.

Unique Exposure Modes

Expect the right exposures with the settings you want. The K20D presents multiple options for automatic exposure. The Program Automatic mode offers Hyper Program to instantly change the shutter speed or aperture on the fly. When you change either of these settings, the other exposure parameters automatically change accordingly for proper exposure. The Sensitivity-Priority AE (Sv) mode is designed to automatically select the optimum combination of aperture and shutter speed for a user selected sensitivity. In the SV mode you may shift the sensitivity simply by turning a dial. The Shutter-Priority (Tv) mode lets you choose the optimal shutter speed and the Aperture-Priority (Av) mode lets you select the appropriate aperture. Another exposure mode offered by the K20D is Shutter & AperturePriority AE (TAv), which is designed to automatically select the most appropriate sensitivity for a user-selected shutter speed and aperture combination. Plus, you may choose from Manual (M), Bulb (B) and X-sync (X) settings for even more versatility, or the USER setting that allows you to preset your preferred parameters. All exposure adjustments are accessible through two ergonomically placed dials on the front and the back of the camera. If you are working with PENTAX F-, FA-, DA- or DFA-series lenses, you can benefit from the MTF data: a microchip in the lens passes information to the camera regarding the optically optimal and lens-specific aperture to use.

Continuous Shooting, Interval Shooting
The high speed shutter unit of the K20D, rated for 100,000 cycles, allows shutter speeds as fast as 1/4000 second, a 1/180 second flash sync. speed, and automatic exposures up to 30 seconds, plus a bulb mode for extended exposures. For high speed action, the K20D offers a number of options for fast capture. In normal, high speed situations, the camera will capture at 3 fps for 38 JPEGS and 14 RAW images. You also have the option of setting the K20D to an alternate continuous shooting mode that slows the capture rate to 2.3 fps but allows you to shoot an unlimited number of JPEG images (to your cards capacity); perfect for extended capture sequences. And, for extended time lapse sequences, there is an interval timer that can be set to capture images at a specific time interval, starting at a specific time.
Pentaprism Viewfinder PC Sync Socket
The K20D conveniently includes a PC socket for shooting with studio lights. The camera remains weather and dust sealed even when the PC socket cap is removed. The pentaprism viewfinder in the K20D is designed to give you the best view while composing your image. The viewfinder gives a 95 percent field of view and 0.95X magnification so you can see as much of the image as possible before capture. The viewfinder also provides all the important image information in a concise manner: focus point indicated in red, in-focus indicator, focus mode stats, shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, number of images remaining, Shake Reduction status, and with a press of the OK button on the back of the camera, the current ISO setting. Additionally, the focusing screen is interchangeable so you can use a PENTAX grid screen or scale screen.

2.7 inch LCD Panel

The PENTAX K20D incorporates a large 2.7 inch color LCD monitor with a wide-view design, allowing the photographer to see the monitor image over 160 degrees vertically and horizontally. With a total of 230,000 dots it accurately displays your images with minimal power drain. It also offers digital zooming of playback images up to 32X for easy confirmation of the images focus status and details, and, due to its large size, you can

LCD Color Adjustment

The colors displayed on any LCD screen will change as lighting conditions shift. This can be critical when you are shooting JPEG images, or converting RAW files in-camera. The LCD on the K20D can be adjusted to display the correct colors for your most common lighting conditions, much like having a white balance feature specifically for your LCD to allow better confirmation of your captured image.

2.7 inch

even review two images side by side. The large monitor allows for large letters, digits and icons on the menu screens to facilitate menu confirmation and camera operations.

ISO Adjustment

The K20D features an auto sensitivity control function, which automatically sets the optimum standard output sensitivity up to ISO 6400 in the Expanded Sensitivity setting, based on such data as the subjects brightness level and the lens focal length. You have full control of the range of auto sensitivities available. Or, you can manually select the desired sensitivity.

The 23.5 x 15.7 mm CCD sensor records photos with a resolution of up to 10.2 megapixels. This is enough for you to produce truly astounding prints even at 20x30 inches or more without difficulty. The high resolution sensor also allows photos to be cropped so that your composition may be perfected. High resolution combines with the DDR2 buffer memory to give quick capture rates up to 2.8 frames per second. This assures that you will not miss the fine details of every special moment.
Auto Picture, Scene and SV Modes
The K200D offers the PENTAX-developed Auto Picture mode and a Scene mode pallet. The Auto Picture mode automatically and instantly selects one of the four Picture modes including Portrait, Landscape and Macro by calculating various photographic factors to assure optimum results. The Scene mode allows the photographer to select from eight modes specialized for conditions such as Night Scene, Portrait, Sunset, or Pet mode. The photographer chooses the mode to match the subject and scene and the camera automatically selects the proper exposure, white balance, and other settings for superior results. The Sensitivity-Priority AE (Sv) mode is designed to automatically select the optimum combination of aperture and shutter speed for a user selected sensitivity. In the SV mode you may shift the sensitivity simply by turning a dial.
The K200D features an auto sensitivity control function, which automatically sets the optimum standard output sensitivity, up to ISO 1600, based on such data as the subjects brightness level and the lens focal length. Since this function allows the use of higher shutter speeds in poor lighting situations (such as indoor sports events and night scenes), it helps the photographer to effectively reduce camera shake and help prevent blurred images.

Enlarged Dynamic Range

For those times you want to capture the maximum amount of detail in an image, the K200D offers a dynamic range enlargement function. This function brings out the detail in highlighted portions of your image, while maintaining detail in darker areas.

Continuous Shooting

To track the movement of an active subject or capture a sequence of the subjects expressions, the K200D offers a continuous shooting mode that allows the photographer to capture multiple images at a maximum speed of approximately 2.8 images per second.

Penta-mirror Viewfinder

The K200D features a lightweight penta-mirror viewfinder, which combines PENTAX-original finder optics with a Natural-Bright-Matte II focusing screen to deliver a bright, clear subject image with 0.85X magnification and 96 percent field of view.

2.7 Inch LCD

The PENTAX K200D incorporates a 2.7 inch color LCD monitor on the back panel. With a wide-view design, the monitor allows the photographer to verify images on the monitor over a 160 degree angle of view vertically and horizontally. With a total of 230,000 dots for clear images, it also offers digital zooming of playback images up to 16X for easy confirmation of the images focusing status and details.
