Aqua Diving, then look elsewhere. Pentax gives the maximum depth for this camera as 3m, which is around the depth of a lot of swimming pools.

I purchased this camera as a gift February 2008. We had problems with the memory card from the beginning and admit we should have sent it right back. Take your underwater images to a new depth With an enhanced waterproof design. I have had pretty good luck with this camera. I have been using it for close to 6 months, and frequently in very wet situations.

Bought it to use on our cruise, takes average/above average pics as a regular camera, compact enough to take anywhere. I bought this camera because of the waterproof capability.

My Optio 30 failed too and so did pentax repair department. The camera had many problems, some intermittently. As a serious underwater photographer I use housed cameras with external strobes.

Poor quality The texture and idea is great. The quality and ability to stand up to the littlest of use is really disappointing. Cheaper then the W20, Quality and Price After owning a W10 and W20 I expected the quality to continue increasing. I was disappointed with the W30.

The camera was purchased 8 months ago for use in corrosive and dusty industrial environments. A protective silicon skin, not water proof. It failed and pentax customer services failed. Pentax claims it is waterproof. I followed the manual instructions and it failed.

Terrific camera for multipurpose uses We bought this camera as an upgrade to the pentax optio w10, which we loved and owned for 1 1/2.

I bought the Pentax Optio W30 because at the time it was the best reviewed waterproof compact digital. I bought this camera for a holiday in the Caribbean. After using it for 20 minutes in shallow water, it failed. My husband and I were in the market for a new digital camera and since we were planning on a cruise in the near future.

Reliable camera, compact lightweight durable metal case, fixed lens(no mechanicals to foul, good closures on hatches. Compare to my Optio W10, this camera only upgraded the water depth and extended submerging time. Otherwise, it still has the same weakness.
