Digital Cable Ready The CableCARD is a removable card distributed by the cable providers that is inserted in the TV. This enables the Plug-andPlay DTV functionality as agreed between cable operators and consumer electronics manufacturers. It allows the decoding of encrypted or scrambled content delivered from the cable system. CableCARD functionality includes conditional access and copy protection. A CableCARD-enabled television without a CableCARD inserted receives high-definition standard TV broadcasts. When a CableCARD is inserted, the television receives high-value highdefinition, cable programming. Pixel Plus 2 HD Pixel Plus 2 HD offers the unique combination of ultimate sharpness, natural detail, increased depth, vivid colors and smooth and natural motion from standard TV, High Definition signals and multimedia sources. Each pixel of the incoming picture is enhanced to better match the surrounding pixels, resulting in a more natural picture. Artifacts in compressed multimedia content are detected and reduced, ensuring that the picture is clean and razor sharp. Digital noise reduction ensures that the picture is perfectly smooth yet razor sharp. Active Control + Light Sensor Active Control is a unique and intelligent way of optimizing picture quality by measuring and analyzing the incoming signal to automatically adjust picture quality settings. Active Control with Light Sensor uses a sensor to adjust the picture brightness depending on the room light conditions. Ambilight The full-color ambient lights offers you relaxed viewing and a unique ambiance via a soft light glow on the walls surrounding the TV. Research has shown that watching television with adapted ambient lighting promotes more relaxed TV viewing. the Ambilight colors automatically adapt to the images on the screen to add a new sensation to the viewing experience. The light can also be switched to fixed colors or various shades of white. In standby mode, the lights can be operated to any color and create a unique ambiance in the room. USB and Memory Card slot Instantaneously view and share your movies, photos and music. The Memory Card slot will accept cards of type Compact Flash I and II, Memory Stick, SD Card / Mini SD Card, Smart Media, Micro Drive (up to 2 GB) and Multi Media Card. Simply plug the memory card into slot at the side of the TV, and access the multimedia files stored on the card. The USB connector allows access to multimedia files of most USB-sticks and most digital cameras (USB memory-class device). HDMI input HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The nondegraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection.

Process: For units that fall within the serial number ranges, look for a diameter red dot sticker located near the model number label on the back of the unit or on the shipping box if the unit is packaged (such as a store-stock unit). If this red dot sticker is present, the Ambilight Lamp Assemblies have already been replaced. Do not continue with this process.

If no sticker is present: 1. For TVs that are packaged, carefully unpack the TV from the shipping box. The packaging will be reused, so do not damage or lose any of it or any of the accessory items. For TVs that are not packaged, continue to step 2. 2. To prevent damaging the TV, place the TV face down on a padded surface. 3. Replace the Ambilight Lamp Assemblies with new ones. Refer to the disassembly details in the service manual. For reference, part numbers of the kits are listed below. Each kit contains the new left and right side Ambilight Lamp Assemblies, instructions, and the red dot stickers. Screen Size Kit Part Number 310 57702
4. Be sure to remove and discard any tape (if present) holding down the cables from the inverter board to the Ambilight Lamp Assemblies. Do this for both the left and right sides.

5. Only for the right side Ambilight assembly (as viewed from the front of the TV), peel back the tape (if present), holding down the cables going to the inverter board from the power supply and small signal board, until it is at least 3 inches away from the inverter board. Cut the tape being careful not to nick the cables. Discard the tape removed. Press the remaining tape against the Ambilight assembly to hold the cables in place.

6. Reassemble the TV set. 7. Apply a diameter red dot sticker to the back of the TV near to the model number label being careful not to cover any information on the model number label. See the example below. (Note: Picture for illustration purposes only. Do not pay any attention to the serial number in this sample picture.)
8. Perform all necessary safety checks on the product as described in the service manual, and confirm that the TV turns on, has picture and sound, and that both the left and right side Ambilights operate.

9. Obtain the operation hours of the TV from the service menu. Enter the following key sequence via the remote control to access the service mode: Info+.
10. For TVs that were removed from the original shipping box, such as a store-stock unit, confirm that the serial number on the TV matches the serial number on the box. If the numbers match, apply a diameter red dot sticker onto a blank area of the model number label. If more than one model number label is on the box, apply a sticker onto each model number label. Do not cover any information on the label. See the example below. (Note: Picture for illustration purposes only. Do not pay any attention to the serial number in this sample picture.) Re-package the unit and accessories into the original shipping box.

11. Enter the operation hours and code U45 in the Comments section of the warranty claim. This will ensure that there are no delays with processing your payment. 12. With a permanent marker, draw a zigzag line along the entire length of the lens side of the Ambilight Lamp Assemblies that have been removed from the TV. Do this for both Ambilight Lamp Assemblies that were removed.
13. Package and return the replaced Ambilight Lamp Assemblies for DUD credit.
