Upscaling adds more pixels to the existing picture and gives added detail. Then, LTI enhances these additional pixels to give extra sharpness and depth. This award-winning combination results in the most natural pictures ever seen on TV.
Upscaling. Adding more pixels for better definition. The first Pixel Plus technology is Upscaling, which adds more lines and pixels to the standard definition input signal. This enhanced signal is then scaled up to the relevant screen resolution in the high definition display panel. Naturally, this leads to a better image with added detail. LTI. Transient Improvement. To understand this, let us examine the role played by luminance transient in picture quality. When the picture goes from a dark to a light colour, the luminance transient value changes. Usually, this change is a gentle slope, which causes blurring at the edges of the picture. The ideal luminance transient slope would be a vertical line, so that the transition from dark to light is instant. However, since this is not achievable, the next best compromise is to make the luminance transient slope as steep as possible.
