2 x 40 Watts RMS Stereo 40 watts continuous RMS power output per channel, at 6 Ohms, from 120Hz-15kHz, with no more than 10% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). MP3-CD Playback Download MP3 songs from the internet on a PC and record them on a CD. This special "MP3-CD" can now be played on the Philips FW-M355 Mini System. One MP3-CD can carry up to 12 hours of music. As the CD changer can be loaded with 3 CD's, one can enjoy 36 hours of uninterupted music listening! The FW-M355 is designed to playback MP3 audio recorded with a bit-rate (quality level) between 64kbps and 320kbps. The set will also handle variable bit-rate recordings. Also check out the Philips EXP103 portable CD player with MP3-CD playback! MP3 Audio MP3 Audio is an audio compression technique that significally reduces the size of an audio track (as recorded on a compact disc). MP3 has become a standard audio compression format used on the world wide web and enables music to be transferred quickly from one place to another. Everyone with a device (software program) that can decode MP3 music can enjoy MP3 Audio. MP3 Audio can be recorded in different quality levels. Common are quality levels between 64 kilobytes per second (low quality) and 320 kilobytes per second (high quality). For higher quality music, there is less audio compression and as such the total recording capacity on a disc or memory chip will be (5x) less. Digital Sound Control via jog control (Optimal, Jazz, Rock, Techno) Digital sound control (or DSC) offers different sound settings tailored for specific musical styles. 3-step Dynamic Bass Boost via jog control Boosting bass response as much as 8 decibels (nearly 3 times more than normal) Dynamic Bass Boost yeilds full, rich tonal quality at all volume levels. 3-Way Bass Reflex Speaker System Equipped with one 5 1/2" woofer and one 2 1/2" tweeter and one 1" piezzo, 3-way enclosures feature a wider range of frequency response for greater listening pleasure and bass reflex enclosures for deep, rich bass response. AM/FM Stereo Digital Tuner State-of-the-art precision tuning system insures precise, accurate station selection every time, along with the greatest performance and reliability available. Bitcheck Digital-to-Analog Conversion Employs dynamic element matching to eliminate deviations in bit current to eliminate crossover distortion and supply extremely high linearity in audio reproduction.

Safety information

q Before operating the system, check that the operating voltage indicated on the typeplate (or the voltage indication beside the voltage selector) of your system is identical with the voltage of your local power supply. If not, please consult your dealer. q Place the system on a flat, hard and stable surface. q Place the system in a location with adequate ventilation to prevent internal heat build-up in your system. Allow at least 10 cm (4 inches) clearance from the rear and the top of the unit and 5 cm (2 inches) from each side. q Do not expose the system, batteries or discs to excessive moisture, rain, sand or heat sources caused by heating equipment or direct sunlight. q The lens may cloud over when the system is suddenly moved from cold to warm surroundings, making it impossible to play a disc. Leave the system in the warm environment until the moisture evaporates. q The mechanical parts of the set contain selflubricating bearings and must not be oiled or lubricated. q When the system is switched to Standby mode, it is still consuming some power. To disconnect the system from the power supply completely, remove the AC power plug from the wall socket.
