You just made a great choice by buying this Philips universal remote control! It can operate the most-used functions of almost any brand of TV, VCR or Satellite receiver. English

PROG PROG

Installing the batteries
Your SBC RU130 needs two 1.5V batteries, type R03, UM4 or AAA. Put them in like this:
DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES PROPERLY
Remember to replace the batteries at least once a year. Dont leave the batteries out for longer than one hour, otherwise you will need to set-up the SBC RU130 again.

KEYS & FUNCTIONS

Power: to switch TV/VCR/SAT on and off. Mute: to switch the TV sound on and off.
Channel Up/Down: to select next / previous channel. Volume Up/Down: to control the TV volume.
- The channel and volume buttons have a double function! In case you have to program the SBC RU130 for use with your device you have to enter a 6-digit code (e.g. 012313). These are the digits that these buttons represent: = digit 0, = digit 1, - = digit 2, = digit 3.

R O3 / AAA

Mode / Shift key MODE function (when mode key is only pressed once): to select TV, VCR or Satellite mode. SHIFT function (when mode key is pressed simultaneously with other function keys): to get access to additional functions. MODE + PROG+: increases colour MODE + PROG-: decreases colour MODE + Volume+: increases brightness MODE + Volume-: decreases brightness
- Not all brands have this shifted functionality so it could be possible that this feature does not work on your equipment.

1 Press the mode key for the device (TV, VCR or SAT) you

want to operate.

2 Press the power key to test.
The green indicator LED lights up to confirm transmission

Your equipment is of another brand or your equipment is a Philips brand, but not all keys respond correctly:
1 Look up the brand name of the equipment you want to
operate in the code list (centre of this manual).
2 Make sure the equipment is switched on. 3 Press the mode key and select the device (TV, VCR or
SAT) you want to operate.
4 Press and hold keys mute and power simultaneously - for

about three seconds- until the green LED lights up. (Release the keys: the green LED should stay on) 5 Enter your 6-digit code within 30 seconds. (PROG = 0, PROG+ = 1, VOL = 2, VOL+ = 3) e.g. when the code is 012313 press PROG, PROG+, VOL, VOL+, PROG+, VOL+. The green LED flashes twice.
Thats it! Press a few keys to check correct response. If response is not correct, repeat procedure beginning at step 1 using the next 6-digit code in the list.
- If the LED displays one long flash, the code was not recognised. Please go back to step 1 and repeat the procedure, using the next 6-digit code in the list. - If no key is pressed within 30 seconds, you have to start again at step 1. - If no correct code is in the list, go to the next paragraph.

MODE PROG

You do not know the brand of your equipment/ you can not find the right code in the code list auto search:
1 Be sure your device is switched on (if the device is a
VCR, please insert a tape and start playback).
2 Press the mode key for the device (TV, VCR or SAT) you
3 Press and hold keys mute and power simultaneously -for

about three seconds- until the green LED lights up. (Release the keys: the green LED should stay on) 4 Press the power key repeatedly until the equipment switches off. Make sure that you keep the remote control pointed at your equipment. Each time the green LED flashes, another code is sent. When the right code is found, the equipment switches off. If you accidentally press the power key again, after the equipment switched off, you miss the correct code! If you accidentally skipped the code follow the next procedure starting at step 5. If you did not skip the code go to step 8.
5 Switch the equipment manually back on. 6 Press PROG (down only!) a couple of times. 7 Press the power key repeatedly until the equipment

switches off.

8 Press the mute key to lock the correct code in the SBC
RU130s memory. The green LED flashes twice.
Switch equipment on manually. Press a few keys to check correct response. If response is not correct, repeat procedure beginning at step 1.
- The search time averages about 90 seconds. (Maximum search time is 5 minutes for TV, 2 minutes for VCR and 4 minutes for SAT). - If the LED blinks twice, after you pressed the power key (step 3), this means you have tried all codes. If non of the codes worked, try the Autosearch procedure again, starting at step 1.

PUNCH-THROUGH SOUND
Punch-through sound enables you to control the audio level of your TV, regardless of what device mode the remote control is in.

POWER/DIGIT TOGGLE

Even when your TV can be activated by using a digit key only (e.g. digit number 1) instead of using the power key, you need to install the "Power/Digit Toggle" function. After you installed this function, the power key will send out the "power on/off" code, the first time you press the "power" key and the "digit 1" code when you press the "power" key for the second time. In this way it is possible to activate your TV even when it responds to digit codes only. To install this "Power/Digit Toggle" function, follow the following procedure: 1 Look up the "Power/Digit toggle" code in the code list (centre of this manual). 2 Make sure the remote control is in the TV mode. 3 Press and hold power and mute keys simultaneously for about three seconds until the green LED lights up. (Release the keys: the green LED should stay on). 4 Enter the 6 digit "Power toggle" code within 30 seconds. The green LED flashes twice. Follow the same procedure to cancel the "Power/Digit toggle" function.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Problem: Solution: Equipment is not responding and the green light does not flash when you press a button. Replace batteries with two new 1.5 volt, type RO3, UM4 or AAA batteries. Equipment is not responding, but the green light does flash when you press a button. Aim the SBC RU130 at the equipment and be sure that there are no obstructions between the SBC RU130 and the equipment. The SBC RU130 is not performing commands properly. You may be using the wrong code. Try repeating Set up using another code, listed under your brand, or start the Autosearch Set-up over again to locate the proper code. If the equipment still doesnt respond, call the help-line and well put you back on track. Your brand is not listed in the code list. Try the Autosearch method.
