New Pioneer Hi-Bred Research Center to Help Boost Yields for Local Farmers The $2.3 Million Facility in Kinston, N.C., to Focus on Corn and Soybean Seed Development
KINSTON, N.C., May 17, 2011 Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, announced the location for its new research center in Kinston, N.C. The new research center will be located in the Lenoir County Industrial Park. The establishment of this new research center is another example of additional investments Pioneer is making to ensure successful local product development to help farmers increase productivity. The research center will include more than 26,000 square feet of space at an estimated cost of $2.3 million. Research at the facility will be focused on soybean breeding, product development, corn product testing and characterization for farmers in the South. Additionally, IMPACT plots (Intensively Managed Product Advancement Characterization and Training) for both corn and soybeans for the East Coast will be managed out of this location. The new research center will further expand our efforts to provide products that fit the specific needs of farmers in this area, said Greg Wichmann, business director for the Southern Business Unit. This geography brings unique challenges as it is mostly dry land, with both drought and heat stress impacting yield. This investment in local product development and testing reinforces our commitment to helping farmers get the right product on the right acre to maximize productivity. Pioneer expects to break ground for the new research center later this spring and to officially begin operations in the fall of 2012, after construction is complete. However, Pioneer has already started research expansion in the surrounding area during 2009 at a temporary location near Kinston. Agriculture is a heritage industry in North Carolina, said Gov. Bev Perdue. But its also one of our most important new economies. We are doing an outstanding job of using history and experience combined with education and job training to drive innovation that will lead the way to the future. The Kinston Research Center is expected to employ about 10 full-time positions once it is fully operational. In addition, Pioneer plans to hire temporary employees at the center during portions of the growing season. Research scientist Zack Shearin joined Pioneer earlier this year and will oversee a comprehensive soybean breeding program at the research center as well as lead efforts to test
experimental varieties, evaluate and position new commercial varieties. He recently completed his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in plant breeding, genetics and genomics. Cable preparation
All signal wires must be connected via 100 series termination resistor.

Group together GND wires of the three kinds of signals (PCM, DSD and SPI) as shown in the picture below. Extend each of them with a short wire (cut off from a resistor).

Use heat shrinks to protect the solder joints.

Cut off a sufficient length of the ribbon cable and crimp the IDC connector. Watch the position of the red stripe.

Overview

Remove the main DVD and DSD board out of the player. Connect DSD signals first and then proceed with PCM, SPI, MCK and power lines.

Find the position of unpopulated IC552 Legato Link chip and remove resistors R559, R560 and R561. Tap PCM signals on their pads and make sure that both pads of each resistor are shorted as shown in the diagram. Tap MCK signal on pad 3 and MCK GND on pad 23 of unpopulated IC 491.
