CDJ-800MK2 How To Create An Update Disc

OVERVIEW:
Thank you for purchasing the Pioneer CDJ-800MK2. From time to time Pioneer offers updates for our professional DJ equipment. These updates can include additional functions and features or may provide a solution to an existing issue. This document describes how to update your player. Before installing an update, check the current program level to see if the update is necessary. Although player update files may be downloaded from the Pioneer website, an update needs to be installed from a CD inserted into the unit. To create an update CD, follow the directions below. Once the update file(s) have been transferred to CD-R (or CD-RW), follow the update procedure in the next section to install the player update. The final section lists updates for this model.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

Follow the instructions below to update your player. Check the current player level: 1) Turn the player on. 2) Press and hold the RELOOP/EXIT button for ten (10) seconds. The version appears on the players display.
3) Cycle the power (turn off then on again) to return to normal operation. Create an Update CD: 1. Go the Pioneer website: www.pioneerelectronics.com. 2. Mouse over the SUPPORT tab to reveal the Products drop-down menu. 3. Click on Pro DJ from the Support menu. 4. Mouse over the Pro DJ products menu (on left) to reveal models. 5. 7. Copy the update (ISO) file to your hard drive if the version is higher than your player. If the version is the same, skip the remainder of these instructions. 8. Launch your disc-burning program. Pioneer does not provide or recommend any particular recording program. 9. Set your disc-burning program to disc-at-once (2X Speed)/ISO 9660. 10. Record the update (.iso) file to CD according to your applications directions. Do NOT copy any other material to the update disc or the update will fail. Verify that the disc is finalized before ejecting from your computer drive. Install the Update: 1. Remove any disc from the player and power it down. 2. Press and hold both the QUICK RETURN and AUTO BEAT LOOP2 buttons while powering on the player. 3. When DOWNLOAD appears on the display, release both buttons. 4. Insert the update disc into the player. Scrolling DOWNLOAD messages appear on screen. Most update take approximately one minute to run. Do NOT turn off the power during the update process. 5. Monitor the unit until the message changes to FINISHED and the player ejects the CD. 6. Cycle the power on the player to complete the update. If the word ERROR appears on the players display, immediately stop the update. Turn off the power and contact Pioneer Service for further assistance.

CDJ-800MK2 UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
Applicable Model : CDJ-800MK2
Confirm Current Firmware Version 1. Hold the RELOOP/EXIT button for about 10 seconds to display the firmware version on the display. Note) Firmware version 2.10 and later versions do not require this update.
Update Contents 1. Master Tempo Quality Improved Better preservation of sound quality while using the Master Tempo function. 2. Improved Readability of Dirty or Scratched Discs Increases the products ability to play back unclean or damaged discs. Note) This update will improve the system's capability to compensate for certain limited anomalies such as discs with minor scratches and unclean surfaces. Discs should always be kept clean and free from damages. Even with this update, the products may not be able to play all discs depending on the degree of damage. 3. Improved Loop Control This update improves jumpiness after releasing a certain loop control in some specific conditions. 4. Enhanced Disc Detection Ability This update enhances the detection ability for CD-ROM and CD-DA disc.
Download the Firmware 1. Download the firmware ZIP file from Pioneers website to a folder on your computer. 2. Unzip the file and save it to a folder on your computer. After unzipping, you will have 1 file that will need to be burned to CD-R/RW. 3. Check the firmware file Check the file name and size by right clicking on the file and choosing Properties. Name 800MK2.HEX Size 1.93 MB (2,027,720 bytes) Date 3/10/2008
* Download again if the file name and size do not match the ones listed above.
Create the Update Disc Copy/burn the file 800MK2.HEX to a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc. Note) - Use a good quality branded blank CD-R disc or completely erased CD- RW disc. - Burn the firmware file into the disc using disc-at-once mode (2x Speed) - Make sure that the disc session is closed / the disc is finalized. * If the correct file is not copied to the disc, your player will not recognize it as an update disc and you will not be able to carry out the update.
Update Your Player Perform the following procedure to update the firmware. WARNING!! DO NOT turn off or disconnect power, or remove the update disc until the update has finished. Doing so may result in your player becoming unresponsive and will then need repairs. 1. While the player is off, press and hold the AUTO BEAT LOOP 2 and TIME MODE/AUTO CUE buttons simultaneously until a message DOWNLOAD appears on the display. 2. Insert the update disc. The update automatically starts and will take about 1 minute. After completing the update, the disc is automatically ejected and message COMPLETE appears on the display. 3. 4. Turn off the power and remove the disc. Turn on the power and confirm the firmware version.
