Pioneers latest innovation: the DEX-P9R directly transfers digital data from the CD to audio processors for pure state-of-the-art quality sound. Plus with its aluminium fascia and elegant blue OEL display, this little unit really catches the eye.
FULL DIGITAL SYSTEM SONIC EXCELLENCE REDEFINED
Pioneers combination of the ultra-high quality DEX-P9R component CD/RDS tuner and the DEQ-P9, a Digital Preamp/Equaliser, creates a pure audio system that redefines sonic excellence. Pioneers acclaimed hi-bit technology converts the original 16-bit CD audio signal to 24-bits, which improves signal linearity and maintains pure audio quality during digital processing. The DEX-P9R has optical digital inputs for connecting Pioneers XDV-P9 multi-DVD player, and optical digital outputs for connecting to the DEQ-P9 off-board digital network. This network features 3 ultra precise 51-bit Digital Signal Processors to implement the 31-band graphic equalisation with independent Left/Right control, time alignment and the 4-way digital network. The DEQ-P9s outputs are loaded with six Burr Brown 24-bit multi-bit DACs the best of the best! Each of the audio output channels features 2 separate DACs, arranged in Sign-Magnitude conversion mode. This 51-bit Digital Signal Processor eliminates zero cross distortion, and offers an astounding S/N noise ratio and an ultra-wide dynamic range. The final result is unparalleled sonic clarity, faithfully reproducing the resonance of the original recording. Audiophiles will also appreciate Pioneers attention to detail. The aluminium front panel and elegant blue OEL display are a sight to behold. For absolute perfection, choose the display off mode to eliminate noise created by the displays power circuits. Special touches such as the copper-plated chassis for reducing noise inducing eddy currents, gold-plated RCA terminals and the use of 99.99% pure Oxygen Free Copper in the RCA cables make these products the acoustic perfectionists dream. The DEX-P9R also functions as a stand-alone headunit. In this case, external amplifiers can be used to drive the front and rear speakers as well as a subwoofer over the non-fading preout. Each of the outputs from the DEX-P9R features a 4 V Hi-Volt preout, and the analogue conversion is done using Burr Brown 24-bit multi-bit DACs. To get the most from the DEX-P9R, however, Pioneer strongly recommends using it in combination with the DEQ-P9. The DEQ-P9 has a 4-way output, for driving a low-range woofer, a mid-range speaker, a tweeter and a subwoofer. This can also be adapted to a low mid-range woofer, a tweeter, a subwoofer and fullrange rear fill speakers, if required. The external amplifiers are driven by the DEQ-P9s Hi-Volt outputs. These very high quality outputs use their own balanced plus/minus PWM power supply, to minimise noise and distortion.

Using independent left and right equalisation, it is possible to have flat frequency response characteristics for each channel, facilitating the creation of natural sound staging and imaging.
By adding this DSP unit to a Pioneer headunit with RCA preouts, the discerning driver can enjoy the versatility, sonic purity and distortion-free control of digital signal processing. By converting the incoming signal to digital form, it enables you to balance the output signal to match the acoustic characteristics of your car and to create your personal sound profile by using the parametric equaliser and SFC controls. SEPARATE COMPONENT HIGH GRADE CUSTOM-FIT SPEAKERS
Separate Component High Grade Custom-Fit speakers offer a selection of separate woofers and tweeters made from very high performance materials to give truly outstanding performance. Woofers use cone-integrated conical domes, butyl rubber edge construction, IMPP cones and ARM resin baskets, resulting in richer bass sounds, smooth mid to high frequencies and high power handling capability. To ensure equally superlative performance, tweeters have a neodymium magnet, a high quality diaphragm, magnetic fluid-filled voice coil and slant spacer for natural, smooth sound through the mid to high frequencies. While the woofers are designed to fit into your cars existing speaker provision, the tweeters are small enough to be fixed in a wider range of convenient locations. Custom-fit Speakers application chart
Pioneer offers a wide range of Universal and Custom-Fit speakers to fit many cars. The chart below lists many popular car models, and the Pioneer speakers which can fit them. With Custom-Fit speakers, installation is easy and exact; they fit perfectly in the speaker holes no cutting or drilling necessary. If Universal speakers see chart pages 56 - 58 are preferred, they can be mounted in the cars speaker provisions with the use of an adapter kit (see page 59), or mounted in back. (This list may not apply to all cars listed, because not all cars in each country have all the required speaker provisions.)

Double Damper

A damper supports the speaker cone and guides the cone as it moves back and forth during use. By using two dampers instead of one in many of its speakers, Pioneer has greatly improved linearity over the entire frequency range of the speaker. Other benefits include low distortion and an improvement in power handling capability.
