The revolutionary 3-D space frame construction reinforces the physical strength of the amplifiers/receivers. Unlike traditional 2-D chassis designs, each part is fixed to the frame from various angles, so the unit has the strength to support the heavy transformer, without any distortion. The double-layered chassis ensures an extremely strong and rigid base for the 3-D frames. In addition, the chassis is copper-plated* to suppress signal interference between circuits and reduce ground impedance. (VSA-AX10Ai, VSX-AX4AVi, VSX-AX2AV, VSX-1015) One of the secrets to these amplifier/receivers is Pioneers exclusive Advanced Direct Energy (A.D.E.) power design. It produces an amazingly efficient, high-end sound quality with equally amplified power for each channel, to ensure consistent sound quality for multi-channel applications. This highly advanced circuitry is designed to offer high stability and ultra-linear amplification combined with low energy loss. The VSA-AX10Ai and VSX-1015 feature a new AC/DC isolated amplifier module, designed especially to optimise the A.D.E. MOSFET performance under any condition. Combined with the built-in temperature adjustment, it minimises power imbalances that can cause distortion in the sound stage.

Thanks to a newly developed video decoder and encoder, you can be sure of the finest video quality. The video decoders extended bandwidth makes it fully compatible with progressive DVD and HDTV, as well as standard NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats. These decoders perform 4 times oversampling for standard definition and 2 times oversampling for high definition formats, enabling the input of progressive scan signals. The video encoder can properly support NTSC and PAL colour standards. With these receivers, the video signal is passed on to the TV or display with the highest integrity.

SURROUND MODES FOR MORE PERSONALISED VIEWING (All A/V amplifiers and receivers)
Enhance your entertainment experience even further. Just take advantage of Pioneers pre-defined Original Surround modes and listening modes to tailor the sound to your specific listening conditions or source. Bring out big-theatre sound from action movies with Advanced Movie mode, while Advanced Music mode will make you believe youre in a large concert hall. 5/6/7-Channel Stereo uses all the speakers in the system to simulate a stereo feeling and create rich surround sound. (6/7-Channel Stereo is used with one or two Surround Back speakers; if none are available, 5-Channel Stereo takes effect.) Virtual Surround Back creates a highly convincing phantom surround back sound behind you. Expanded Theatre mode adds more sound depth to Dolby Surround sources. For TV or headphone listening turn on TV Surround and Phones Surround modes for enhanced surround effects. A sports fan? Youll feel right in the middle of the stadium with Sports mode. Try out Game mode if youre an avid gamer. It deepens the sound of powerful movement and speed for intense video game action. During those late night movies, put on Midnight Listening mode for better cinema-like sound at low volumes. If poken dialogue isnt clear during action sequences, switch on Dialogue Enhancement mode. With the SR+ interface, you can integrate your A/V receiver with a Pioneer Plasma TV with minimum fuss. Receiver status, controls and set-up features are displayed on the plasma for easy operation; the plasma TV automatically follows the input and accepts remote control commands from the A/V receiver. Advanced SR+ also includes a macro function, an easy solution for frequently used multi-step system commands (available for VSX-AX4AVi and VSX-AX2AV only). For example, press the macro and DVD buttons on the remote control, and the plasma TV, A/V receiver and DVD player will all switch on at the same time. Moreover, the input function for both the plasma TV and the A/V receiver will be changed automatically.

ADVANCED PROCESSING IN THE DIGITAL DOMAIN
Enhanced SACD sound quality (VSA-AX10Ai, VSX-AX5Ai, VSX-2014i) Pioneer has incorporated two new features to ensure that sound from your SACD sources is as true to the original as possible. In order to make the conversion from 2-channel DSD to PCM, a sampling frequency of 176.4 kHz/32-bit is used. The resulting signal is virtually indistinguishable from the original. For multi-channel SACD, the sampling frequency is 88.2 kHz. SACD reproduction now also benefits from the new alternative SACD gain setting. The gain in the digital domain (for SACD) is increased by 6 dB, resulting in a higher dynamic range.
New Ultra Digital Core Engine for more powerful signal processing (VSA-AX10Ai) The VSA-AX10Ai-S uses twin 32-bit floating-point processors SHARC Melody Ultra and 48-bit processing Motorola DSP engines, such as those widely used in pro audio equipment. Pioneer engineers created the most advanced digital processing module, the Ultra Digital Core Engine, optimised for the DSPs. It features a short signal path thanks to the latest 6-layered circuitry board design and an exclusive processing algorithm. The Ultra Digital Core Engine processes the data with extreme precision, and delivers more powerful multi-channel sound decoding and processing than ever before.
