Dear Custumer Thank you for your confidence in buying this Polti product for perfect ironing in less time. Your Vaporella has been designed to ensure maximum ironing comfort; its quality materials make it a reliable work-mate. The powerful jet of Vaporella steam acts on the fabrics eliminating every crease. Therefore it is not necessary to press on or iron repeatedly. Just let the iron slide over the garment to obtain perfect ironing, saving time and effort. With Vaporella it is possible to iron vertically to revive fabrics and take out bad smells from jackets, clothes and overcoats. Thanks to its self-refilling system, Vaporella is quickly ready for use and does not need any interruption to your ironing for refilling the boiler. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE USE KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance. Use which does not comply with these instructions will invalidate the warranty. The wiring system to which the appliance is connected must always comply with the laws in force. Before connecting the appliance, make sure that the mains voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the data label of the appliance and that the power outlet is connected to earth Always turn off the appliance at the on/off switch before unplugging it. If the appliance is left unused, always disconnect it from the mains. Never leave the appliance unattended with the cable plugged into the mains. Always make sure the appliance is unplugged before performing maintenance work of any kind Do not pull the power cable out of the socket, but grasp the plug itself to avoid damage to the socket. Do not allow the power cable to be twisted, crushed, stretched, or come into contact with sharp or hot surfaces. Do not use the appliance if the power cable or other important parts are damaged. Do not use electric extension leads that are not authorized by the manufacturer, as they may cause damage or fire. If it is necessary to replace the power supply cable, please refer to the nearest Polti authorised service centre, since the use of a special tool is necessary. Never touch the appliance with wet hands or feet with the cable plugged into the mains. Do not use the appliance when barefoot. Do not use the appliance near a bathtub, shower or container full of water Never immerse the appliance, the cable or the plugs in water or other liquids. Use of the appliance in places where there is a danger of explosions is prohibited. Do not use the product with toxic substances. Do not lay the hot appliance on surfaces sensitive to heat. Do not leave the appliance exposed to wind or rain. Do not place the appliance near a live element, an electric stove or any other source of heat. Do not expose the appliance to extreme temperatures Never let children or people who are not familiar with how the appliance works use it. Do not press the buttons hard or with a pointed object such as a pen. Always rest the appliance on a stable surface. In case of accidental fall of the appliance it is necessary to have it checked by an authorized Service Centre as the internal safety features may have been affected. In case of breakdown or malfunction switch off the appliance and never attempt to disassemble it, but refer to an authorized Service Centre. In order to avoid prejudicing the safety of the appliance, use only original spare parts and accessories approved by the manufacturer. Do not wind the power cable around the appliance, especially when the appliance is still hot. During refilling with water, switch off and disconnect the appliance from the mains. It is necessary to keep the unit in horizontal position during operation. Do not direct the steam jet on electrical and/or electronic appliances. Let the appliance cool down before cleaning it. Before storing the appliance make sure that it has completely cooled down. This appliances is equipped with safety devices which are to be replaced only by a suitably qualified technician. Do not direct the steam jet at people, animals or debris. Danger of burns! Never place your hands inside the jet of steam. Danger of burns! Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the boiler. Water by its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the tank. In very hard water areas we recommend the use of our KALSTOP FP 2003, a special naturalbase decalcifier which inhibits and breaks

down limescale. This is a preventive against scale build-up and protects the metal walls of the boiler. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers or from your Polti Service Centre. Do not use demineralised water alone, but mix it with tap water as described above. Never use distilled water or scented water. We recommend you use original Polti products only, as products of other brands may not be suitable for use in Polti products and could cause damage. If you iron sitting down, do not place your legs under the ironing board, the steam can cause burns. Iron only on heat resistant surfaces and on surfaces that allow the steam to escape e.g. mesh ironing boards. For iron rest replacement use only original spare parts. The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface. When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable. Check that the continuous steam request button is switched off before connecting the appliance to the mains. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The appliance must not be used if it has fallen, been dropped or when it has visible signs of damage or leaks. The crossed-out wastebasket symbol on the appliance means that at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from ordinary household wastes. The user is responsible for delivering the appliance to an appropriate collection facility at the end of its useful lifespan. Appropriate separate collection to permit recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal helps prevent negative impact on the environment and human health and promotes recycling of the materials making up the product. I M P O R TA N T Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your VAPORELLA may contain some residual water in the boiler. P R E PA R AT I O N F O R U S E 1a. Open the roller shutter cover (13) by moving it downwards as shown (fig. 1). 2a. Fit the flex holder (12) to the appliance. Place the combined flex (8) into the support (fig. 2). 3a. Pull the tank cap (1) upwards and fill the tank with about 1 litre of water, making sure that it does not overflow (fig.3). Normal tapwater can be used. However, as hard water by its nature contains limestone, which may cause a build-up of limescale in the tank, in hard water areas we recommend the use of our natural-base decalcifier KALSTOP, available from Polti dealers or by mail order from your Polti Service Centre. 4a. Put the tank cap (1) back in its place. 5a. Insert the removable supply cable plug (9) into the built-in socket on the appliance (fig.4). Plug the appliance into an earthed power supply of the correct voltage (fig. 5). IMPORTANT: always make sure that the

The sound emitted on switching on your appliance and periodically during use, is due to the water refilling system and is quite normal. In order to have a continuous steam jet, move the continuous steam jet button (10a) forwards. Steam will keep on coming out, even if you release the button. To stop the steam flow, move the continuous steam jet button (10a) backwards (fig. 9). 4b.By turning the steam flow control knob (6) you can vary the quantity of steam according to the type of textile to be ironed (more or less delicate). You can use this control to increase the steam flow by turning it anticlockwise. Turn the control in a clockwise direction to reduce the steam flow (fig.10). 5b. The appliance is equipped with a rigid iron rest mat (11) (fig.11) which can be removed and put elsewhere if required. DRY IRONING If you need to DRY iron (ONLY) (NOT steam ironing), press the iron switch (3) and adjust the iron temperature by turning the dial (7) to the temperature required for the fabric (as shown on the dial). NOTE: The steam pressure indicator (5) may go on and off from time to time during use of Vaporella. This indicates the machine maintaining the correct and constant pressure and is quite normal. If no steam is released from the iron, check the following: the steam pressure indicator (5) is off; there is water in the boiler; the steam flow control knob (6) is set to one of the Steam settings.

STEAM IRONING 1b. For STEAM ironing, turn the dial (7) and set the iron to its MAXIMUM travel on the COTTON - LINEN steam position (fig.7). NB Set at its maximum, do NOT set against the picture of iron on the dial (7). Most fabric types, other than delicates can be STEAM-ironed at this temperature, please consult the garment label. If you want to DRY iron, set the dial (7) to the required temperature for the fabric as shown on the dial. Nb fabric indications on the dial are for DRY ironing, for STEAM ironing set at maximum travel as explained above. 2b. Wait for both the pressure indicator light
(5) and the iron heating indicator light (10b) to go out (about 3 minutes). Push
the button (10) on the iron to release bursts of steam from the holes on the soleplate. Release the button and the steam flow stops (fig.8). NOTE: during initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilises. It is advisable to direct the

USE The Polti anti-shine soleplate (available by mail order from your Polti Authorised Service Centre) makes it possible to iron fabrics that usually tend to become shiny when ironed. The soleplate can also be used with other fabrics. ASSEMBLING Warning: mount the soleplate when the iron is cold. Make sure that the spring is in external position as in fig. 12 and fits the soleplate making the tips match correctly (fig. 13). Pull the spring towards the back of the iron until it reaches the entry point for the cable, as shown in fig. 13a. ACCESSORIES CONNECTION
All Vaporella accessories can be connected to the generator as described below: Open the cover of the built-in socket (15) (fig.A). Insert the one-piece plug (16) (fig.B).
THE ORIGIN Stains are produced from substances of various origins and according to the base of the predominant substance they can be classified as having the following origin: ANIMAL (protein base): soup and meat sauce, milk and cream, blood, sweat, egg, urine, vomit. VEGETABLE (tannin base): beer, coffee, chocolate, Coca-Cola, fruit, wine, tea. VARIOUS (specific stains): paint, lip-stick, biro, tar, rust, perfume.

To better identify the origins of the staining substance you can help yourself by using your senses. The shape, touch, colour and location are very important (TAB.1). H O W TO U S E T H E G U N

U S I N G T H E S TA I N R E M O V E R G U N Before using the stain remover gun, it is advisable to carefully read these instructions which allow a correct classification of stains and supply accurate advice on the most appropriate way of operating. I D E N T I F Y I N G T H E S TA I N In order to act properly on stains, it is important to be able to distinguish them. Identifying the stain means understanding its origin and age. This allows you to avoid unsuccessful attempts which often, as well as not producing an optimal result, can also be damaging. THE AGE All RECENT stains can be removed with the stain remover gun without having to wash the item. As they get older, stains attach themselves to the fabrics fibres and in some cases, steam cannot remove them. In such cases it is necessary to wash the item. If the recently stained fabrics are treated immediately with mineral water, the stain does not attach itself to the fibres and subsequent steam cleaning with the stain remover gun will prove quicker and more effective.
At the first steam request, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come until the temperature stabilises. It is advisable to direct the first jet of steam onto a cloth. To obtain steam from the stain remover gun, press button (19). The powerful jet of steam produced can be used effectively as follows, depending on the type and size of stain. If operaiiting on a SUPERFICIAL STAIN, you must direct the jet of steam to skim the fabric in proximity of the stain in order to project the dirt with the pressure against a cloth used to collect it (fig. 14). If operating on a DEEP STAIN, you must turn the item inside out and act on the fabric from the inside. After resting it on a sponge, direct the jet of steam onto the stain so that the dissolved dirt can exit from the opposite side of the fabric and be absorbed by the sponge (fig. 15). Simple methods are often the most effective: a shot of steam can sometimes be sufficient to eliminate even the most resistant stains.

WA R N I N G To avoid halos around the stain it is advisable to point the steam jet nearby the borders of the stain first and then towards the center of it gradually. Make sure that the stain has been completely removed from the fabric before ironing it, as the irons heat fixes the stain permanently. To obtain an even better result, it is advisable to perform the cleaning operations on an ironing table equipped with a suction board. DO NOT use the steam on bloodstains as blood coagulates with heat thus fixing the stain permanently. Should the stain persist, do not dry the item before acting a second time. Should the stain persist even after the second attempt, it is advisable to contact a qualified dry cleaning centre. A summary table accurately classifying the types of stains in relation to the advisable cleaning method is included as part of these instructions (TAB.2). Always do a test on a non visible part of the item first or on a sample. When dealing with coloured items, it is advisable to test the colour resistance on a section of non visible material. Use moderately with silk items and acetate based fibres. Never leave the gun within the reach of children. It is recommended to disconnect the appliance when it is not in use. ACCESSORIES USAGE You can connect different types of accessories to the steam gun according to the kind of surface to be treated. For correct connection of the accessories proceed as follows: Hook the tooth which is at the bottom of the accessories to the inside of the hose for steam gun accessories (20), then turn it according to the inclination you need until it is completely locked (fig. 16). 1) ATTENTION!!! The accessories get hot during use, so be careful when you remove or replace them, use a kitchen glove, or leave them to cool down. Replace the accessories only when the power supply cable is not connected to the mains. 2) Before treating leather, special fabrics (especially draylon and velvet) or wooden surfaces with steam, consult the manufacturers instructions and always proceed only after carrying out a test on a hidden part or a sample. Allow the area treated with steam to dry and then check whether any changes in colour or deformations have occurred before proceeding further. For extremely delicate surfaces use the steam jet at a minimum range. 3) When using the curtain-freshener accessory, make sure to check the fabric manufacturers instructions on how to iron different fabrics. In case of particularly delicate or valuable fabrics (velvet, brocade, etc.), it is necessary to keep the accessory at a distance of at least 20 cm (8 inches) when delivering the steam.

USING THE STEAM GUN

Connect the steam gun to the generator as described in paragraph ACCESSORIES CONNECTION. Attach the appropriate accessory for the surface to be treated, as described in TIPS FOR BETTER ACCESSORIES USAGE Wait for the steam pressure indicator (5) to go out. Push the steam request button (21) on the steam gun to release bursts of steam. Release the button and the steam will stop. NOTE: during initial operation a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old cloth until a uniform stable jet of steam is obtained.
TIPS FOR BETTER ACCESSORIES USAGE
Curtain freshener accessory (22) (Fig. 18) specially designed to iron curtains vertically without removing them. HOW TO USE IT: Move the accessory downwards in order to iron the curtains and to eliminate creases or smells, the useful sponge attached to the accessory will absorb any excess drops of steam. To prevent the sponge wetting the curtains with absorbed water, simply remove the sponge and squeeze it out, then replace the sponge by reattaching to the accessory with velcro strips and go on with ironing.

Using the steam control (6) it is possible to adjust the quantity of steam according to the type of fabric (more or less delicate). Rotating the knob counter-clockwise the steam jet increases. Decrease the steam by rotating the steam control clockwise (fig.10) Garment freshener (23) (Fig. 19) This accessory is suggested to remove crumbs, dandruff, animal hairs and hairs from jumpers, trousers, jackets, overcoats and from other textiles. HOW TO USE IT: pass the accessory against the nap so as to remove all particles on the item to be treated. Vaporize the cloth eliminating creases and bad smells. Small round brush (24) (Fig. 20) Recommended for removing hardened dirt on hard to reach surfaces, such as corners, burners, sanitary fixtures and inside the car. The different colours let you use the same brush on the same surface ensuring perfect hygiene. Flat small brush (25) (Fig. 21) To remove hard dirt on very narrow surfaces, such as tiles grout, door posts, shutters slats, radiators and so on. Curved lance (26) (Fig. 22) To sanitise difficult to reach surfaces which may be difficult to reach with other accessories. Thanks to its special shape, it produces a more concentrated jet of steam. For correct connection of the curved lance (26): separate the hose for steam gun accessories (20) from the body of the appliance by turning it anti- clockwise (fig.17) Hook the curved lance (26) to the tube with the desired angle and fasten it by turning clockwise. FILLING THE BOILER Thanks to the self-filling function, there is no longer any need to stop and wait to fill up the boiler again. When the water inside the boiler reaches its low level, the thermostat will automatically activate a pump that will fill the boiler from the tank. If the steam is not issued at the steam request and the indicator light (4) lights up at the same time, it means that there is no more water in the tank. In order to continue working, it will be sufficient to restore the water level in the self-filling tank. C A R E O F Y O U R VA P O R E L L A Before attempting any maintenance operation, be sure to always disconnect the appliance from the mains. To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents, which may harm the body material.
