Set the Levels
1. Push in the "SOLO MODE" button (61) to set the meters as "PFL" pre fader listening. 2. Push in the channels SOLO switch (13). 3. While play something into the selected input, this could be an instrument a singing or speaking voice or putting in some signal from a CD player, set the GAIN control (3) so that the leds on the meter stay around "0" and never go higher than "+6 dB", never the PEAK led of the channel must light on also. 4. If you would like to apply some EQ do so now and return to step 3. 5. Release the channels SOLO (13) switch. 6. Repeat these operation for each channel.
Missaggio
1. Collegare tutti gli strumenti e impostare i livelli come sopra. 2.
Mixing
1. Connect all the instruments and set the levels as described above. 2. Push out the "SOLO MODE" button (61) to set the meters as "AFL" after fader listening. 3. Push in the MIX button (43) to show the output level on the meters. 4. Set the FADER (15) of the input channels at "0" dB position. 5. While playing all toghether set the MAIN MIX level to a confortable listening level, usually between "0" or a little bit down to "-5 dB" to leave more dynamic at the amplifier input, then adjust each channel FADER to obtain your own mix.
Other Nuggets
For optimum sonic performance the channel and main mix FADERS should be set usually near the "0" marking. Be sure that the volume of the input sources are the same as it would be during the sound check. If it isnt, you might have to readjust these levels during the middle of the gig, to do this use the PFL and SOLO functions and GAIN controls, in any case avoid always the PEAK led lights, only occasionally flashing is accettable with high dynamic signals. Always turn down MAIN MIX fader and C.ROOM knob before making connections. When you shut down your equipment, turn off the amplifier first. When powering up, turn on the amplifier last. Never listen to loud music for prolonged periods.
11. PAN control
It adjusts the amount of channel signal sent to the left versus the right outputs. Use it to positionate the signal in a panoramic stereo scene.
11. PAN (controllo panoramico)
12. PEAK detector and SOLO active
This LED has two function: If the PEAK LED lights permanently this means that you have activated the SOLO switch of this channel. If the PEAK LED flashes this means that the input signal is near to the CLIPPING point. IMPORTANT: if the LED PEAK flashes reduce the level of the input signal using the GAIN control.
13. SOLO switch
This switch allows you to hear signals through your headphones or control room outputs and to show the level on led meters. Use the solo in live work to preview channels before they are let into the mix, or just to check out what a particular channel is up to anytime during a session. You can solo as many channels at a time as you like. IMPORTANT: The solo signal is pre-fader if SOLO MODE is in PFL position, so you can hear it even when the channels fader is turned down. The solo signal is post-fader if SOLO MODE is in AFL position, so you can hear it only when the channels fader is turned up and the MUTE/ALT3-4 is not pressed.
13. SOLO (tasto attivazione preascolto)
MONO CHANNEL STRIP STRIP CANALE MONO 14. MUTE/ALT 3-4 switch
The dual-purpose MUTE/ALT 3-4 switch serves two functions: muting, and signal routing where it acts as an extra stereo bus. To use this as a MUTE switch, all you have to do is not use the ALT 3-4 outputs. Then, whenever you assign a channel to these unused outputs, youll also be disconnecting it from the MAIN MIX and the CONTROL ROOM/PHONES dis-engaging ALT 3-4 switch (55) and (44), effectively muting the channel. To use this as an alternate mix, switch in ALT 3-4 and all you have to do is connect the ALT 3-4 outputs to whatever destination you desire. When doing live sound or mixdown, its often handy to control the level of several channels with one knob. Thats called subgrouping. Simply assign these channels to the ALT 3-4 mix, engage ALT 3-4 switch (44) in the CONTROL ROOM/PHONES section, and the signals will appear at the CONTROL ROOM and PHONES outputs. If you want the ALT 3-4 signals to go back into the MAIN MIX, engage the ALT 3-4 switch (55), in both of these examples the ALT3-4 fader (56) controls the level of your sub-group.

Set-up the M8USB for playback from PC
With the MAIN MIX (58) fader raised up, while playing something from PC simply turn the 2 TRK IN (41) control and you can hear the audio signal on MAIN MIX outputs, or push in 2 TRK (45) switch and raise up C.ROOM/PHONES (46) level control to hear the audio signal on phones and C.ROOM output.
Set-up the M8USB for recording to PC
While playing something into one mixer channel, put in recording your PC software then adjust the MAIN MIX (58) fader level to accomodate an appropriate recording signal, if you PC has a level meter it must never gone in red (0 dBFs) position to avoid any digital clip distortion.
USB INTERFACE INTERFACCIA USB Set-up the M8USB for recording and monitoring yourself when using a DAW software
1. Turn down the MAIN MIX (58) fader level, and C.ROOM/PHONES (46) knob. 2. In your DAW software make sure to set record tracks WITHOUT MONITORING during playback/recording (the method depends by your DAW software). 3. Make sure that the 2 TRK (45) to C.ROOM/PHONES button is DOWN, the MIX (43) to C.ROOM/PHONES button is DOWN, and the 2 TRK IN (41) to MIX knob is turned down AT MINIMUM, otherwise youll hear feedback when you turn up the MAIN MIX fader later. 4. Set each recording channels GAIN (3)(18) knobs and LEVEL (15)(29) fader so that youre getting good level without lighting the PEAK indicator on the mixer. 5. The MAIN MIX (58) fader now acts like a master volume knob for all your mic/line inputs. Adjust this knob until youre getting good levels into your PC recording DAW software. 6. The C.ROOM/PHONES (46) knob now controls the level of your headphones (or studio monitors), but does not affect recording levels in your PC. You can set this level to a comfortable setting (or even off ) without affecting what gets recorded.
Bad Output
Is the associated level control (if any) turned up? If it's of the MAIN MIX outputs, try unplugging all the others. For example, if it's the (6.3mm jack connector) LEFT MAIN MIX output, unplug the RCA LEFT 2TRK OUT. If the problem goes away, it's not the mixer, check the RCA cable. If it's a stereo pair, try switching them around. For example, if a left output is presumed dead, switch the left and right cords at the mixer end. If the problem stays on the left side, it's not the mixer, check the cable.
Bad Sound
Is the input connector plugged completely into the jack? Is it loud and distorted? Make sure the input GAIN control for the input is set correctly. Reduce the signal level on the input source if possible.
Noise / Hum
Turn down each channel, one by one. If the noise disappears, it's coming from whatever is plugged into that channel. Check the signal cables between the input sources and the mixer. Disconnect them one by one. When the noise goes away you'll know which input source is causing the problem. Sometimes it helps to plug all audio equipment into the same AC circuit so they share a common ground.
