| We purchased a MacBook Pro laptop computer, Time Capsule, Snow Leopard and a Magic Mouse from Vanns in Helena. Picked up a 13 Macbook Pro directly from the Bozeman retail store to avoid the shipping wait. Item was in perfect condition. | |

| There is no comparison with the PC/Windows and a MacPro they are different in many respects, and perhaps similar with some. The Mac is fast. Great Computer. would not own anything else.... well maybe the new G series!! Fast, simple, elegant, eco-friendly, you name it. | |

Presidents Message
Its hard to believe our summer is half over. I hope all members are getting out and enjoying the season. Our annual Floatilla at Zachs Bay was a great success. Thank you to our trusty Captain Anglers Crew for spear heading that event. You guys sure know how to have fun! Im pleased to announce that with the help from our house committees Captain Anglers Grill team our next GM will be held at FTC property. We will have a Hawaiian Luau theme. I ask all members to dress Hawaiian. Prizes will be given out for best costume. Entertainment at this months meeting will be long time club supporters and friends, Captain Harry Weinblatt, F/V Blue Marlin, Captain Chris Squeri and Jeff Squeri, F/V Lady E. Captain Harry will be covering Tuna Chunking in the Deep. Captain Harry is one of the South Shores finest tuna fisherman. Hes ready to share some of his time-tested techniques. Our entertainment continues with the father and son team, Captain Chris Squiri and Jeff Squiri. They will cover tuna and marlin trolling in the canyon. These guys have a proven track record on landing large fish, which have put them on the scoreboards in some highly competitive tournaments. I urge
Its August and its a hot one.

all members to attend the next GM. Special thanks to Dave Massa for donating and installing of our new canopy tent at the property. Added to this months calendar August 26, 27, and 28th is the FTC-BTC Shoot-out. Contact John Rooney for details. Our Fall Rodeo is set for September 16, 17, and 18th. This event is about family, friendship, sportsmanship and of course fishing. There will be awards for different species of fish coupled up to a gourmet banquet. This is usually our last event of the season. I would like to ask all members to save the date and participate. Once again I thank all general members, board members and committee heads for your faithful support. This club would not be what it is today without you. Thats what makes us successful. As I always say The toughest thing about success is that you have to keep on being a success. Thanks, Captain John

particular Saturday, Capt. Mike Zullo was faced with these conditions but that changed when a white marlin showed up in his spread. After teasing the lures the fish finally hooked up and after a short spirited battle the fish was at boatside. After a few pictures and careful placement of a tag, the fish was released to fight another day. Other reports of white marlin in the area were confirmed as well. On the local front fluking has been fair at best however reports from east of Fire Island prompted several members to check out the action. Don Moreo landed a 10.3 lb. doormat and Bob Benzonberg and Bob Pandy had fish close to the 8.0 lb. mark. Further to the east and not a stranger to large fluke was Bobby Krug and his 10.0 lb. fish which was caught on a reported porgy drop Bluefishing has been at its best as well. Cholera has been the hot area for the last month and the fish are showing no signs of letting up. Bunker Chum and cut bait are the ticket to cashing in on this action. Congratulations are also in order for club president, Capt. John Jutt, on the recent repowering of his vessel Bunker Dunker. The vessel was re-christened with a new Yanmar Diesel and hopefully will have some reports for this column shortly. As the month of August wears on we can target a multitude of species, get out there and enjoy the action. Sincerely, Captain Harry Weinblatt F/V Blue Marlin
The beginning of July showed promising
signs of an early canyon bite. The fair numbers of school-sized bluefin and smattering of yellowfin that were being caught never materialized into much after that. The fishing has slowed up considerably as the fish have not yet settled down and taken up residence on the offshore grounds. Throughout the month of July we have had several days of easterly-south easterly winds. This direction of wind is conducive to carrying oxygen rich blue water inshore. This water type makes a very comfortable habitat for pelagic species. The fish must have heard me speak of this in the past because it was certainly the case this time around. Our club boats reported some of the best school bluefin trolling in years. Catch and release was practiced and double-digit catches were not uncommon. With the school sized bluefin on the grounds the sharks were not to far behind
Our club members were catching more threshers this season than most can remember. Most of the fish were in the 150-250 lb. range and provided excellent action. Junior member Bobby Krug landed his first thresher ever, a 168lb. specimen and a pending junior class world record. The fish was taken shortly after several school bluefin were caught in 180 feet of water south of Montauk. Other notable thresher catches were made aboard the club boats Kristin, Hooker, 50/50 and Persuader III. With fifteen 90 plus degree-days throughout the month, the water did not take very long to heat up and once this happened the school tuna fishing slowed up. On one

U.S.C.G.VESSEL EXAM
Our second annual U.S.C.G. Vessel Exam at the Thursday night bbq on August 18th at 8 pm. Phil Caroleo from U.S.C.G. Aux Flotilla 13-06 will be leading the inspections along with other fellow Auxilarists to assist in the exams for anyone interested and who have their vessels at the property. Arrangements for Vessel Exams for those not on the club property can be made by contacting George Sinerco via email or home phone 516.764.4648.
The summer is really heating up and so are our clinics. On July 28th, Mark Keller from Bay Park Fishing Station gave a great seminar on Tuna Tactics. On Sunday, July 31st the club held its second annual Raft Up at Zacs Bay and it was a great success. About 17 boats from 16 ft. to 36 ft. got together for good food, drinks and fun for the whole family. Special thanks to Bob Pandy for arranging this event (also for the shrimp, they were great). Thanks to Scott Novick for bringing a cooler filled with clams, crabs and corn; we all enjoyed it. Hopefully well continue this even next year and again, double the number of boats participating. The Thursday night barbeques are heating up as well. Joe Steiner did it again with his Jambalaya and Suffed Pork Loin wrapped in Prosciutto. John Koenig took stuffed pork chops to another level by stuffing them with gorgonzola cheese. Rafy did cod fritters to die for. Thanks to all the members who have donated their catches this year. The shark, tuna and wolffish have been great and a lot of fun to cook, keep it coming. We look forward to cooking something special for our August GM. Bon Appetite! Jim Rooney, 1st VP

Don't be alarmed or rush to call Homeland Security if you see one of these surface while fishing the NY Bight this summer. This is an underwater glider, or otherwise known as an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). This is used by the Rutgers COOL room to roam underseas providing valuable data for Rutgers for their currents and ocean floor explorations.
