Progressive Scan Processor A digital process that scans the entire video image in one pass, eliminating scan lines and producing a much cleaner/ sharper picture than the standard interlaced process. QuickSet Guide An initial, interactive, on-screen guide makes setting up the VCR easier than ever before by walking you through the setup process. Reverse 3:2 Pulldown A process that effectively marries film standards with video standards to allow optimum viewing regardless of the program source. S-Video (Separated Video) System for interconnecting video appliances (televisions,VCRs, camcorders, etc.) that maintains separation between luminance (brightness) and chrominance (color). S-Video connectors are also called Y-C connectors, because luminance is sometimes referred to as the Y component and chrominance as the C component of component video. S-Video avoids composite video encoding, such as NTSC and the resulting loss of picture quality. SAP (Second Audio Program) Decodes the second audio program available on some broadcasts (i.e. Spanish dialogue on a normally English speaking show). SDTV: Standard Definition Television This is a television with a lower quality than HDTV or EDTV. SDTV picture quality will be similar to DVD. As a minimum, SDTV must have the following: Receiverreceives ATSC terrestrial digital transmissions and decodes all ATSC Table 3 video formats and produces a useable picture Resolutionhas at least 480i (interlaced scan) Aspect Ratio4:3 or 16:9 Audioproduces usable audio SRS Focus11 Audio Technology Ingenious technology from SRS Labs. It raises the sound field to ear level, when the speakers can not be placed near the screen center. On a Projection TV, the speakers are at knee level. With SRS Focus11 turned on, the sound appears to come from the actors mouths and not their feet. SRS TruSurround11 Simulates the surround sound experience of a six-speaker home theater system through a two-speaker stereo configuration. SVGA (Super Video Graphics Array) Computer-industry standard for video resolution. SVGA refers to video resolution higher than 640 horizontal pixels and 480 vertical pixels. (640x480 is VGA resolution.) The most common SVGA resolution is 800x600. SVGA enables video adapters to support resolutions of up to 1,024 x 768 pixels with up to 16.7 million simultaneous colors, which is known as true color. Computer-industry resolution is usually stated with the number of pixels of width first, followed by the number of pixels of height (for example, 800x600). In the television industry, resolution is stated with the number of horizontal lines first, followed by the number of pixels per line (for example, 480x720). SYNCROSCAN HD Component Video Inputs Allows easy compatibility between RCA Digital High-Resolution Monitors and a variety of programming sources, each with a different scan rate. Allows for connection of regular- or progressive-scan DVD players or component-output HDTV set-top boxes. Scan Line One line of pixels scanned onto a video screen.Video pictures are produced with rows of pixels (scan lines) scanned very rapidly onto the screen.The more rows of pixels, the sharper the picture. NTSC pictures have 525 scan lines, produced with an interlaced scan. DTV pictures have at least 480 scan lines (but with many more pixels in each line than in each line of an NTSC picture). HDTV pictures have at least 720 scan lines (interlaced scan), or 1080 scan lines (progressive scan). Scan Rate Number of times each second that an image is scanned onto a video screen.The standard scan rate for television is 30 frames (complete images) each second. Scene Again With a single push of a button on the remote, automatically jump back 12 seconds to see or hear missed content. Will also turn on subtitles (if on disc) in preselected language. Scene Snip The Scene Snip feature is an RCA exclusive that allows editing of up to six scenes of your choice while watching movie content. Snipped scenes are stored in the permanent flash memory of the player (edits will remain in a power outage) and will play back snipped scenes only when a four-digit password (user selectable) is entered. Retains a minimum of twenty disc titles dependent on the number of edits per disc.
