Good little player! I brought this a long time ago before HDD and flash memory players were cheap enough to buy.

Interface, Pricing, MP3 reliable, better sound, "plus ten" button, buffer, low skip. Audio cd playback uncertain and problematic, plastic parts.

RioVolt SP-90 User Preference Guide
Welcome to the RioVolt SP-90 User guide. The firmware has many user configurable features, and is designed to help you understand the features available to you, and to show you how to customize the player to your preferences. This guide only deals with the User Preferences. To access the User Preferences, press and hold down the EQ/Menu button. Part 1 - User Preferences Layout Part 2 - Navigation
Part 1 - User Preferences Layout
Below is the layout of the User Preferences. Each option is described in mroe detail after the chart. Resume (on, off) Speed (1x, 2x, 4x, 6x) Beep (off, on) File Ext (off, on) Tag (off, on) CD ESP (10sec, 40sec)

Settings Definitions

Resume: With this feature enabled, if you stop the player or power it off, the last used play mode and play position will be retained, along with the previous volume and EQ setting. For example: If you stopped the player in the middle of track 3 with Shuffle enabled, when you press Play, it will pick up in the middle of the track and keep the Shuffle enabled. Speed: This setting allows you to control the speed at which the unit scans through the track. 1X is the slowest, 6X is the fastest. Beep: Whenever a button is pressed on the RioVolt, an audible signal can be played to alert you that something has happened. This can be useful if you are using a remote control and cannot see the LCD screen. File Ext: When this option is set to On, the display shows the file extension for tracks (MP3, WMA, CD, or ASF). When this option is Off, the file extensions do not display. Tag: This setting controls the display of the ID3 tags for your MP3 tracks, if the track has an ID3 tag. When set to On, the ID3 information will be displayed. When set to Off, the ID3 tag information will not display. Note: If this option is turned Off during play, the ID3 tag information of previously played and buffered tracks may still show. CD ESP: This setting to set the ESP for standard audio CDs only. Use 10 seconds to preserve battery life, or 40 seconds to help avoid skipping as much as possible. ESP is up to 120 seconds for MP3 and WMA files, and this cannot be adjusted.

Part 2 - Navigation

To access the User Preferences, long press the EQ button. This will bring you to the list of options. Short pressing the Joypad up and down will scroll through the category list. The list will loop, so when you get to the bottom (CD ESP) and press down again, it will cycle you to the top of the list (Resume). Once in the category, a short press to the right button on the Joypad (Fast Forward) will change to the next option for that setting. These options will cycle through the choices. Only the right joypad button can be used to change the setting. A short press to the left button on the Joypad (Rewind) will take you back to the main list of categories. There is a slight learning curve, and it may seem a little confusing at first, but with just a little practice, you should soon be navigating and changing the options with ease.
