RYOBI Program Inking for Quick Printing Setup
RYOBI Program Inking has been upgraded. RYOBI Program Inking automatically sets the conversion curve for each color according to the image area ratio data calculated at prepress. The ink settings, ink fountain roller speed, and number of contacts by the ink ductor roller are all controlled based on the conversion curves to assure the optimum ink volume.

RYOBI Semiautomatic Plate Changer
The RYOBI semiautomatic plate changer comes as standard equipment and allows plates to be changed quickly and accurately. The operator merely sets the plate on the positioning pins and presses the button. A plate bending device is unnecessary as there is no need to bend the leading edge or the tail edge of the plate. This automated system allows easy reuse of the stored printing plate and can handle polyester-based plates as well as metal plates. Plus, lateral image inaccuracy that may occur due to paper stretching can be adjusted with the fanout clamp.

Plate Register Remote Control Device
This system allows the operator to make minute vertical, lateral and diagonal image position adjustments at the delivery side. Adjustments can be made in increments of 0.01mm (0.0004") within a range of 1.0 mm* (0.039") vertically, 2.0 mm (0.079") laterally and 0.20 mm (0.008") diagonally (at maximum printing area).

Paper Size and Impression Pressure Presets (Option)
The RYOBI 680 Series allows the operator to enter preset values for paper size and thickness using the touch-panel display. Positions of the feeder head and delivery section guides as well as pull side guides can be preset. Plus, an impression pressure preset system is also available.
Note: The pull side guide preset system comes as standard equipment. Feeder head preset, delivery section preset, and impression pressure preset systems are available as options. (The impression pressure preset system includes program-controlled impression cylinder cleaning function.)
Automatic Cleaning Devices
The various automatic cleaning devices of the RYOBI 680 series [automatic blanket cleaning device, automatic impression cylinder cleaning device (option), automatic ink roller cleaning device (option)] reduce the time and effort involved in cleaning and changing colors, reducing the burden on the operator. The RYOBI PCS-G Printing Control System at the delivery side of the press allows the operator to turn each device ON and OFF, as well as select the cleaning pattern according to the degree of cleaning required.

RYOBI PCS-G Printing Control System
Almost the entire operation flow from make-ready through printing _ including paper changing, cleaning, printing settings, registration, color adjustment, water control, and other operations - can be centrally controlled by the RYOBI PCS-G printing control system.
Printing Density Control System (Option) RYOBI PDS, PDS-E AUTO, PDS-E
The RYOBI PDS, PDS-E AUTO and PDS-E Printing Density Control System measure the color bar of the printed sheet using a spectrophotometer with special sensors (a densitometer is used for the PDS-E AUTO and PDS-E). Values needed to correct the color densities to match those of the OK sheet are calculated and provided as feedback to the RYOBI PCS-G, which appropriately adjusts the openings of the ink fountain keys. Quality control that previously relied on human experience and intuition is now done using precise numerical values, contributing to consistent printing.

Ink Volume Setter (for PostScript data) (Option) Ink Volume Setter-CIP4 (PPF) (Option)
The image area ratio data is calculated by the Ink Volume Setter software (option) using PostScript data created on either a Macintosh*1 or Windows*2 computer, and then converted by the RYOBI PCS-G to preset the ink fountain keys. Ink Volume Setter-CIP4 (PPF) software (option) allows the image area ratio data to be calculated from PPF files. Effective use of prepress data can dramatically reduce the labor involved in adjusting the ink fountain keys prior to production printing.

High-Precision Register Punch
RYOBI RP740-425AUTO/RYOBI RP780-425M (Option) The CCD camera scans the register marks exposed on the plate, and the register marks are displayed on the center monitors. By checking the monitors, diagonal, vertical and lateral micro-adjustments can be done easily by dial operation, assuring accurate plate punching with simple lever operation. The RYOBI RP740-425AUTO, available as an option, enables fully automatic serial punching.

A double-diameter configuration using cylinders with a large curvature ratio assures stable sheet transport. Superior inking and dampening mechanisms supply ink and water at a stable rate from low to high speeds. The infeed system maintains high registration accuracy even during high-speed printing of 15,000 sheets per hour. RYOBI-matic Continuous Dampening System RYOBI-matic-D / RYOBI-matic-D Remote Continuous Dampening System (Option)
The RYOBI-matic continuous dampening system assures a uniform dampening supply on the plate surface to reproduce sharp halftone dots, glossy solids and finely detailed text. Starting is quick and is designed to minimize wasted sheets. Switching between integrated mode and separated mode from the touch-panel display is easy, in order to exactly match the image and characteristics. The RYOBI-matic-D Continuous Dampening System with Hickey Removing Function and RYOBI-matic-D Remote Continuous Dampening System with Remote ON/OFF Hickey Removing Function substantially reduce hickeys on plates by adopting a drive mechanism for the water form roller that creates a rotational speed difference between the water form roller and plate cylinder. A hickey picker is also available as a standard.

To cope with market demand for shorter delivery times for printed materials, we have made press durability a top priority. The use of cylinders supported by ultra-precision bearings, precision induction-hardened helical gears, and special castiron side frames which offer solid support to these components-all ensure the highest durability and accuracy over the long term, even at high operating speeds of 15,000 sheets per hour.
High-Speed Infeed Mechanism
By utilizing an underswing and drop-away front lay infeed system in the registration section, high registration accuracy is maintained even during high-speed operation at 15,000 sheets per hour.
Double-Diameter Printing Mechanism
The printing unit consists of a double-diameter impression cylinder and a double-diameter transfer drum. These cylinders, which have a large curvature ratio, transport paper with minimum flapping, providing stable paper transport even when printing on heavy stock.
Grippers for Reliable Sheet Transport
Strong, lightweight gripper mechanism offer high reliability and durability. Ryobi also utilizes cam-closed and double sprung gripper mechanisms which employ torsion bars on all gripper shafts. Achieving reliable sheet gripping, whether at low or high speeds, results in consistent registration accuracy.
Ink Roller Temperature Control System (Option)
By circulating temperature-controlled water inside the oscillating rollers and fountain rollers, roller temperature is maintained at the optimum level. Minimum variations in ink roller temperature ensure consistent print quality, even during long print runs.
Superior Inking Performance
An optimum ink roller configuration designed by computer analysis assures stable ink supply and superb response to ink volume adjustments. The motor-driven ink fountain rollers are programmed to automatically operate in synchronization with the speed of printing, and this enables a stable supply of ink at any operation speed.

An inline coating unit further boosts productivity and adds value by enabling application of aqueous or UV varnish coating. A variety of dryer units help to shorten delivery time, provide high added value to printing jobs, and expand capabilities.
Choice of Three Delivery Systems to Match Drying Systems
The delivery section comes in three types: semi-long delivery and long delivery, both of which can be equipped with a dryer, and standard delivery. Drying aqueous coatings is done with a system that uses a combination of heat from an infrared dryer as well as heated and ambient air knives. The infrared dryer and the air knives can be adjusted to provide optimum drying of inks and coatings, and deliver ample drying capacity even during high-speed operation. A UV curing unit can be built into the press for applications such as printing that demands quick drying times and glossy printing.

Inline Coating System
Aqueous or UV varnish coating can be processed inline using a retractable coating unit. In addition to adding value to printed materials, such as surface protection and glossy finishes, this system also shortens drying time for a shorter delivery time. The universal clamp can accommodate either a blanket with an aluminum bar or a nylon plate attached to a metal plate, enabling spot coating as well as overall coating. During printing the device enables easy adjustment of the coating position vertically, laterally or diagonally, greatly simplifying spot coating. When the varnish coating system is not being used, the entire coating cylinder and anilox roller can be easily slid upward at the touch of a button to prevent marking on the sheet. Then, a safety guard between the main press unit and coating cylinder allows maintenance work (such as cleaning the coating cylinder or mounting blankets) even while the press is in operation. This enables faster switchover to the next printing job.

Perfecting
Ryobis Fully Automatic Convertible Perfecting Device Boosts Productivity.
The perfecting device on the Ryobi 682P, 684P, 685P, 686P, 688P and 6810P can be converted between straight printing and perfecting fully automatically, boosting productivity by significantly reducing time loss for the mode change. Moreover, perfecting is possible at a rate of 15,000 sheets an hour, one of the fastest in the industry.
One-pass full-color perfecting RYOBI 688P/6810P
The biggest advantage of a convertible perfector is one-pass full-color perfecting. Unlike a straight printing press, no time is lost waiting for the front side to dry after printing or for paper piling when printing the back side. Printing takes only half the time, of course, compared to printing both sides with two passes on a 4-color straight printing press. Mounting an interdeck UV curing unit over the impression cylinder makes possible quick-dry perfecting. This boosts productivity and enables flexible handling of jobs a with short turnaround time.

Switching between straight printing and perfecting can be performed remotely from the delivery side via the RYOBI PCS-G Printing Control System. The operator simply inputs the paper size and selects a printing mode from the touch panel display. Various perfecting device settings switch automatically to match the paper size. These include the open/close timing of the grippers on the storage drum and turning drum, the position of the paper tail edge suction mechanism, and the phase of the turning drum and storage drum. Thanks to this fully automatic device, switchover operation can be finished within 2 minutes without using any tools, contributing to minimum time loss for the mode change.

Image registration for both sides is performed in a one-pass process, so there is much less paper waste compared to printing both sides with a straight 4-color printing press. A convertible perfector can perform more work than two straight 4-color printing presses.
