SAGEM DTT RECEIVERS GO GREEN!
Sagem Communications introduces its new range of DTT receivers designed to reduce power usage and help protect the environment
Paris, April 10, 2008 Sagem Communications has upgraded its DTT receiver range and launched the DTT ECO range, with 4 new, low power consumption models. Hundreds of millions of kWh are used every year by electronic products, more and more of which on permanent standby in homes.
A solution to reduce this waste urgently needed to be found; and this is why Sagem Communications focuses its research and development work on bringing products to market that have as low an environmental impact as possible.
This is the background to the launch of its new range of 4 SAGEM DTT ECO receivers:

For comparison a recent study* found the average consumption of conventional DTT receiver models was: - For simple models: 4.8 W standby and 6.6 W in operation - For hard disk models: 8.7 W standby and 18.4 W in operation The reduction in consumption is all the more significant in standby as, over a 24 hour period, the device is used for only 3:30 hours for a simple device and 4:30 hours for a hard disk device.*
A small but significant step, for the environment and for your wallet! Over a year, whereas a conventional simple model consumes an average of 44.3 kWh, the ITD 58/59N ECO receiver uses only 18.3 kWh! As for receivers with hard disks, conventional models use an average of 92.1 kWh a year, compared with just 38.9 kWh for SAGEM receivers/recorders! To produce one kWh in France results in the emission of 56.1 g of CO2, and thus a total of 5 million ITD 58/59N ECO receivers would help reduce CO2 emissions by 7,300 tons compared with existing models (around 5 million DTT receivers)! In terms of cost over 3 years, with one kWh at 12.44 euro cents including taxes, the savings on a consumers power bill would be: 9.71 for a SAGEM ITD 58/59N ECO receiver 19.85 for a SAGEM ECO receiver/recorder The eco-responsible action is thus also a cost saving action! *The average reference consumption figures are from a survey published on August 14, 2007 and carried out by MVV Consulting Gmbh for the European Commission, as part of the preparatory work for the definition of the product Eco-Design specifications (EuP Directive). The power consumption of the DTT receivers was measured on 9 simple models and 3 hard disk models and carried out in March 2007.
