Hard Disc Drive & Freeview Hard Disc Drive Recorders are also known as DTRs (Digital TV Recorders) and PVRs (Personal Video Recorders). Despite the confusing names they are easy and simple to use technology. You simply select programmes from the on-screen guides and because the hard drive is built-in with huge capacity, there is no need to find tapes or discs to record onto. If you want to record Freeview programmes while watching other digital channels, you need a digital recording device. Products with the Freeview+ Logo have twin tuners and the ability to pause and re-wind live TV. You can even record two channels at once and watch a pre-recorded programme. You simply press record from the on-screen TV guide. They are the easiest to use and most flexible. Freesat Freesat is a free to air High Definition service allowing you to watch programmes in HD quality for a one off payment. All you need is a current satellite dish in good working order and a HD-ready TV to access HD services available now from BBC HD and ITV HD. Extended Warranty information on electrical goods
Further information relevant to extended warranties: Extended Warranties This section of the catalogue contains further information on extended warrantys which may help you to decide whether to purchase an extended warranty for any domestic electrical goods you purchase. Your Statutory Rights Whether or not you purchase an extended warranty from Mutual, you (our customer) have various statutory rights that apply to the purchase of your electrical goods. These include the right to claim for a repair or replacement for up to six years if your electrical goods when sold were not of satisfactory quality or fit for their purpose. Within the first six months, the burden of proof is on us (the retailer) to establish that the goods you purchased were of satisfactory quality and fit for their purpose. However, after the first six months, you will have to prove that the goods had a fault when sold to you. Please see your local trading standards department for further information on your statutory rights. Other Extended Warranty providers We offer a range of extended warranties for your purchase. Extended warranties may also be available from other high street outlets, insurance companies and other providers. Extended warranty cover may also be available for free if your purchase was made using some credit cards. Household Insurance Some household contents insurance policies cover for accidental damage, fire or theft of electrical goods. However, an excess may be payable and a claim may affect the cost of subsequent insurance premiums. You do not have to purchase an extended warranty at the same times as you purchase your electrical goods. You do not have to purchase an extended warranty at the same time you purchase your domestic electrical goods. You are entitled to shop around for one. We will happily offer you a quotation for the price and duration for one of our extended warranties which will remain valid until 30 days after the timescale of this catalogue. (30th September 2009) If you have purchased electrical goods elsewhere without a warranty we will be happy to provide you with a quote for an extended warranty on your purchase. Your right to cancel and receive a full refund If you decide to purchase an extended warranty for one of our electrical goods, you have the right to cancel that extended warranty within 45 calendar days and receive a full refund provided no claim has been made under the terms of the extended warranty. You will be sent a reminder of this right at least 20 calendar days before this period runs out. Right to Terminate You will also have the right to terminate the extended warranty at any time after the 45 day cancellation period and receive a pro-rata refund of the amount paid. The amount refunded will be calculated in proportion to the number of complete unexpired months of protection remaining. If you make a claim under the terms of the extended warranty during the 45 day cancellation period you will not be eligible to cancel the extended warranty and receive a full refund. However should you wish, you will still be able to terminate the extended warranty after that period and receive a pro-rata refund in relation to the number of complete months remaining before the expiry of the extended warranty. You may give notice of your intention to cancel or terminate the extended warranty in person (at one of our offices, not verbally to a Mutual Agent), by telephone (again to one of our offices, not verbally to a Mutual Agent) or in writing to the address shown on your policy document. Financial Protection Our extended warranties on products with Stockcodes beginning with W (e.g. W1 HOT 540P - Hotpoint Washer) are provided by a UK-Based Insurance Company Domestic and General plc, which means that if the provider gets into financial trouble, money from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme will be paid to you so you will not lose out. Our extended warranties on products with Stockcodes beginning with V (e.g. V1 SAM 32A4 - 32 LCD Samsung TV) are provided by us, (Mutual Clothing and Supply Co Ltd, 39 Bedford Street South, Leicester, LE1 3JN) without any arrangements to keep extended warranty funds separate from the rest of the business in case the provider (us) gets into financial trouble. These arrangements depend on the provider (us) staying in business. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme does not apply to this warranty. Further information on our IT warranties can be found within the packaging of the relevant items. Continuous Cover If you decide to replace the electrical goods during the life of this extended warranty then your warranty cover will cease, and no refund will be payable. Claims If you make a claim under this extended warranty then we will continue to provide coverage under the warranty until its expiration date. If a product is replaced under warranty, then further extended cover is required.
