| Well thought out, designed and built. The ergonomics are very impressive, as well. Its a great camera, small and light that takes great pictures! Instead having to scroll through menus you just touch a button to make a selection. This is a beautifully constructed camera. Awesome construction, beautiful "old school" design, state-of-the-art menu system. | |

Things to watch out for using the ASR mode 1. The digital zoom will not operate in the ASR mode. 2. If the lighting conditions are brighter than fluorescent lighting condition, the ASR doesnt activate. 3. If the lighting condition is darker than in [ASR mode] fluorescent lighting condition, camera shake warning indicator ( ) will display. Metering
If you cannot obtain suitable exposure conditions, you can change the metering method to take brighter pictures. - MULTI : Exposure will be calculated based on an average of the available light in the MULTI image area. However, the calculation SPOT will be biased towards the centre of the CENTER image area. This is suitable for general use. [PROGRAM mode] - SPOT : Only the rectangular area in the centre of the LCD monitor will be metered for light. This is suitable when the subject in the centre is exposed correctly, regardless of the back lighting. - CENTER : Exposure will be calculated based on an average of the available light in the image area. However, the calculation will be biased towards the centre of the image area. This is suitable for taking a picture of small object like a flower or insects. If the subject is not the centre of the focus area, do not use the spot metering as this may result in an exposure error. In this circumstance, it is better to use exposure compensation.
Sharpness
You can adjust the sharpness of the picture you want to take. You cannot check the sharpness effect on the LCD monitor before you take a picture, because this function is applied only when the captured image is stored on the memory.
SOFT NORMAL VIVID
Sub menu SOFT NORMAL
Description The edges of the image are softened. This effect is suitable for editing images on your PC. The edges of the image are sharp. This is suitable for printing. The edges of the image are emphasized. The edges will appear sharp, but noise may occur in the recorded image.
Effect
By using the cameras digital processor, it is possible to add special effects to your images : No effect is added to the image BLUE : Captured images will be stored in black and SEPIA white. B&W NORMAL : Captured images will be stored in a sepia tone (a range of yellowish brown colours). : Captured images will be stored in a blue tone. [Program mode] : Captured images will be stored in a red tone. : Captured images will be stored in a green tone. : Save the image in negative mode. : User can set the tone of the R (Red), G (Green) and B (Blue) value. These menus can be selected in the Special Effect mode only. How to use the Custom Effect ( ) 2. Select the R, G or B menu by using the Smart button.
You can select the ISO sensitivity when taking pictures. The speed or specific light-sensitivity of a camera is rated in ISO numbers. - AUTO : The camera's sensitivity is automatically changed by variables such as lighting value or subject brightness. - 100, 200, 400, 800, 1000 : You can increase the shutter speed while the same amount of light is present, by increasing the ISO sensitivity. However, the image may be saturated in high luminance. The higher the ISO value, the greater is the cameras sensitivity to light; therefore it has a greater capacity for taking pictures in darker conditions. However, the noise level in the image will increase as the ISO value increases, making the image appear coarse. When the [M.CAPTURE] menu is selected, you only can select ISO 400, 800, 1000.

This camera automatically adjusts the exposure according to the ambient lighting conditions. You can also select the exposure value by using the + / button. Compensating Exposure 1. [NIGHT] ( ) : Use this for shooting still images at night or in other dark conditions. [PORTRAIT] ( ) : To take a picture of a person. User instructions
Choosing an eyepiece (50065 DCC adapter only) HDF/HR eyepieces For best overall image quality and the widest choice of magnifications at which a full frame image is obtained use any of the following eyepieces: HDF T 40810, HDF T 40937 with 50067 insert or HR 40812 with 50069 in combination with 50068 and 50067 inserts. Depending on the focal length and objective dia. of your telescope, other suitable eyepieces may include; HDF T 40862, HDF T 40872, HDF T 40809, HRand HR2 40930. 1. Initial setup Before connecting everything together, set up your telescope and eyepiece on a tripod as you would for viewing, making sure your chosen eyepiece is screwed firmly into position. Focus on an object in the normal way until the image being viewed comes into sharp focus. Twisttype eyecups should be in the down position and fold down rubber eyecups should be removed from the eyepiece. 2. Preparing the camera and lens mount Loosen the locking ring on the lens mount and slide the mount over the lens housing on the camera until it fits flush against the front of the camera body. [Fig. 1] Holding the camera and locking ring section of the lens mount in one hand, turn the main tube of the lens mount clockwise until the mount is securely tightened. [Fig. 2] 3. Preparing and fitting your chosen DCC adapter Assemble the component parts of your chosen DCC adapter as illustrated on previous page. Screw the DCC adapter onto the camera lens mount. [Fig. 3] The camera is now ready to attach to the viewing eyepiece. [Fig. 4] 4. Fitting the combined assembly to the telescope eyepiece [Fig. 5] Place assembly over the eyepiece and push down until the internal wall of the adapter comes into contact with the end of the eyepiece. [a] Hold the main section of the DCC adapter secure and turn the locking ring anti-clockwise until tight making sure the camera remains horizontal. [b] Turn the camera ON, making sure the flash is switched off before taking photographs. For additional guidance on how to operate the NV10, please read the instructions supplied with the camera. Tips for taking pictures The NV10 has no conventional viewfinder so images are composed using the LCD monitor. When the camera is turned on the LCD monitor will show a single rounded picture of the image you originally set your scope and eyepiece to. Once this single rounded picture is obtained you can adjust the zoom function to eliminate any vignetting and make any fine focus adjustments using the telescope. Set shooting mode to P Program as this gives you access to the majority of manual functions you may want to use including; Shooting mode (single, high speed and Mcapture), Metering, Remote ON/OFF, Flash ON/OFF, ISO settings and Exposure Compensation.
