Q. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY VIDEO TAPES?
A. In general it is recommended that all video tapes should be replaced after a period, no greater than 20 passes of each tape. That being 10 record and 10 play back. This will also be dependent on the quality of tape being used and that the recording equipment is in good operational condition.

PECAN ANPR is a flexible new solution to recognising vehicle number plates. At the heart of the system is the computer software or engine as it is known. The pre loaded specialist OCR Optical Character Recognition software allows the image to be digitally read via the specially developed Pecan camera and stored. Stored number plates can be compared to numbers held on a database on the integral PC. PECANPR cameras are based on the market leading technology already used in the Pecan PC range of surveillance cameras. These feature Sony EXview Super HAD Monochrome CCD, with 550 TVL and sensitivity as low as 0 lux. The camera offers variable IR output from 30 high power LEDs, which are integral to the camera body. This makes set up of the system simpler than many traditional ANPR camera systems. A 5.5-82.5mm IR-Corrected varifocal lens also gives the user more options when choosing suitable camera locations. The system comprises a Dedicated PC, Image Grabber, an option of one to four cameras and fully installed NAAS compliant software which is currently used by over 46 police forces across the UK.

As an integral part of Dedicated Micros distributed monitoring and recording solution, the DV-IP Decoder acts as a receiving station for multiple video images transmitted from the range of NetVu Connected products. Irrespective of where the video servers are situated in a network, the Decoder can receive compressed digital data using its Ethernet connection and convert the images into a format that can be displayed on a range of analogue and digital monitors. A range of DV-IP Decoder models are available with composite and HD outputs allowing you to build flexible video walls combining any combination of analogue or digital screens. The monitor outputs are able to support single or multiscreen displays with the HD model able to support native iniputs from megapixel cameras such as CamVu2000. Audio support allows connections between multiple NetVu Connected video servers and a single Decoder, enabling the operator to monitor and control audio at various sites. Whether the NetVu Connected device is streaming JPEG or MPEG-4 the DV-IP Decoder will convert these video streams into composite PAL or NTSC format video for direct connection to a CCTV monitor.

Imagelock uses advanced digital technology to provide secure video images over both cable and RF transmission mediums preventing interception. These miniature devices simply need to be installed in the video Line, to produce a scrambled image using the cut and rotate method. When used in RF applications the traditional problems of noise causing the system to fail have been eradicated, producing a very stable platform for trouble free use. Simply connect the encoder module to the video source output. The signal is then digitally encoded using the cut and rotate" encryption method. The encoded video can then be transmitted securely. The video receiver output is then decoded by the Imagelock decoder module before being viewed on the monitor.

Imagelock uses advanced digital technology to provide secure video images over both cable and RF transmission mediums preventing interception. These miniature devices simply need to be installed in the video line, to produce a scrambled image using the cut and rotate method. When used in RF applications the traditional problems of noise causing the system to fail have been eradicated, producing a very stable platform for trouble free use. Simply connect the encoder module to the video source output. The signal is then digitally encoded using the cut and rotate encryption method. The encoded video can then be transmitted securely. The video receiver output is then decoded by the Imagelock decoder module before being viewed on the monitor.
