Cleaning Related

If you can't get the product clean with just the supplied cloth, use a soft, damp cloth with a "monitor-exclusive cleansing agent" and wipe the product with it. If no monitor-exclusive cleansing agent is available, dilute a cleansing agent with water at a ratio of 1:10 before cleaning the product.
Since the exterior of the product is easily scratched, be sure to use the supplied cleansing cloth.
Usage Related
Since a high voltage runs through the product, never disassemble, repair or modify the product yourself. Otherwise, it may result in fire or electric shock. If the product needs to be fixed, contact a service center. To move the product, turn the power off and unplug the power cord, the antenna cable and any other wires connected to the product. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock or fire due to the damaged power cord.
If the product generates a strange noise, a burning smell, or smoke, unplug the power plug immediately and contact a service center. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock or fire.
Maintaining the Correct Posture when Using this Product

Installing the Stand
Before assembling the product, place the product down on a flat and stable surface so that the screen is facing downwards. Insert the Stand Connector into the Stand Base in the direction shown by the figure.
Check if the Stand Connector is firmly connected.
Turn the connecting screw at the bottom of the Stand base fully so that it is completely fixed.
Place a soft cloth over the table to protect the product and place the product onto the cloth face down.
Hold the main body of the product with your hand as shown by the figure. Push the assembled stand into the main body in the direction of the arrow as shown in the figure.
- Caution Do not lift the product holding only the stand
Removing the Stand
Before removing the stand, place the product down on a flat and stable surface so that the screen faces downwards. Place a soft cloth over the table to protect the product and place the product face down.
Hold the main body of the product with your hand as shown by the figure. Pull the stand in the direction of the arrow as shown in the figure to separate it.
Connecting a Component cable
1. Connect the VIDEO OUT port of the AV device (DVD/VCR/Cable/Satellite box) to the [COMPONENT IN [PR, PB, Y]] input ports using a component video cable [PR, PB,Y].
2. Connect the audio port of the AV device (DVD/VCR/Cable/Satellite box) to the [COMPONENT IN [[R-AUDIO-L]] port of the monitor. Press the [SOURCE] button at the front of the monitor or on the remote control to select the <Component> mode. For an explanation of Component video, consult your DVD/VCR/Cable/Satellite box manual.
2-10 Connecting AV Devices
1. Connect the port of the AV device (DVD/VCR/Cable/Satellite box/Camcorder) to the [AV IN [ R-AUDIO-L ] port of the product. 2. Connect the video output terminal of the AV device and the [AV IN [VIDEO]] of the monitor using a video cable. 3. Select [AV]using the <SOURCE> button on the remote. The audio-video cables shown here are usually included with a Camcorder. (If not, check your local electronics store.)
2-11 Connecting to an Amplifier
Connect the [DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL)] terminal of your monitor to the optical input of your amplifier using an optical cable. If no sound is emitted from the monitor, you need to use an amplifier. For information on how to connect a speaker and amplifier, refer to the respective user manuals provided by their manufacturers.
2-12 Connecting Headphones
Connect your headphones to the Headphone connection terminal.
2-13 Kensington Lock
A Kensington Lock is an anti-theft device that enables users to lock the product so that they can safely use it in public locations. Since the shape and usage of the locking device may differ depending on the model and the manufacturer, for more information, refer to the User Manual supplied with the locking device. You have to purchase the locking device separately.

Each mode has its own pre-configured brightness value. <Entertain> High Brightness For watching motion pictures such as a Blu-Ray or DVD. <Internet> For working with a mixture of images such as texts and graphics. <Text> For documents or work involving heavy text. <Dynamic Contrast> <Dynamic Contrast> automatically detects the distribution of the visual signal and adjusts to create an optimum contrast. <Custom> Although the values are carefully chosen by our engineers, the pre-configured values may not be comfortable to your eyes depending on your taste. If this is the case, adjust the <Brightness> and <Contrast> by using the OSD menu.
Press the [TOOLS] button to display the Tools menu. You can also set the <MagicBright> by selecting <Tools><MagicBright>. Contrast / Brightness / Sharpness You can use the on-screen menus to change the contrast and brightness according to personal preference. Auto Adjustment <Contrast> - Adjusts the contrast level of the picture. <Brightness> - Adjusts the brightness level of the picture. <Sharpness> - Adjusts the edge definition of the picture.
The values of <Fine>, <Coarse> and <PC Position> are adjusted automatically. By changing the resolution in the control panel, auto function is performed. Available in <PC> Mode Only Press the [TOOLS] button to display the Tools menu. You can also set the <Auto Adjustment >by selecting <Tools><Auto Adjustment>.
MENU Screen
DESCRIPTION <Coarse> Removes noise such as vertical stripes. <Coarse> adjustment may move the screen image area. You may relocate it to the center using the horizontal control menu <Fine> Removes noise such as horizontal stripes. If the noise persists even after <Fine> tuning, repeat it after adjusting the frequency (<Coarse>.) <PC Position> Adjusts the screen location horizontally and vertically. <Image Reset> Image parameters are replaced with the factory default values. Preferred Language
Digital-TV broadcasts are capable of simultaneous transmission of many audio tracks (for example, simultaneous translations of the program into foreign languages). <English> - <Spanish> - <French> You can listen in a language other than the Preferred Language by pressing the MTS button on the remote control. Preferred Language is available only in Digital TV mode. You can only select the language from among the actual languages being broadcast.

Speaker Select
When you watch TV with it connecting to a Home theater, turn the TV speakers off so you can listen to sound from the Home theaters (external) speakers. <External Speaker> Used to listen to the sound of the External (Home Theater) Speakers. <TV Speaker> Used to listen to the sound of the TV Speakers. If you select <External Speaker> in the <Speaker Select> menu, the sound settings will be limited. The volume and [MUTE] buttons do not operate when the <Speaker Select> is set to <External Speaker>. Please set the volume on your Home theater.
Channel Status Display Icons : A channel set as a Favorite. : A channel selected by pressing the yellow button. : A Program currently being broadcast. : A reserved program.
Fine Tune
Use fine tuning to manually adjust a particular channel for optimal reception. If you do not store the fine-tuned channel in memory, adjustments are not saved. Fine tuned channels that have been saved are marked with an asterisk <*> on the righthand side of the channel number in the channel banner. To reset the fine tuning setting, press the button to select Reset, then press the [ button. ]
Only Analog TV channels can be fine tuned.
MENU Plug & Play
DESCRIPTION This brings up the menu items that appeared when you first plugged in the TV.
Language
You can set the menu language. The language chosen affects only the language of the OSD.
<Clock> Setting the clock is necessary in order to use the various timer features of the TV. The current time will appear every time you press the [INFO] button. If you disconnect the power cord, you have to set the clock again.
<Clock Mode> You can set up the current time manually or automatically. <Auto> - <Manual> Depending on the broadcast station and signal, the auto time may not be set correctly. If this occurs, set the time manually. The Antenna or cable must be connected in order to set the time automatically.
<Clock Set> You can set the current time manually. This function is only available when <Clock Mode> is set to <Manual>. You can set the month, day, year, hour and minute directly by pressing the number buttons on the remote control.
<Time Zone> Select your time zone. This function is only available when <Clock Mode> is set to <Auto>.
<DST> (Daylight Saving Time) Switches the Daylight Saving Time function on or off. <Off> - <On> - <Auto> This function is only available when <Clock Mode> is set to <Auto>.
MENU Time
DESCRIPTION <Sleep Timer> The sleep timer automatically shuts off the TV after a preset time. <Off> - <30 min.> - <60 min.> - <90 min.> - <120 min.> - <150 min.> - <180 min.>
Press the [TOOLS] button to display the Tools menu. You can also set the sleep timer by selecting <Tools><Sleep Timer>. To cancel the <Sleep Timer> function, select <Off>. <Timer1> / <Timer2> / <Timer3> Three different on / off timer settings can be made. You must set the clock first. <On Time> Set the <hour>, <minute>, <am/pm>, and <activate/inactivate>. (To activate the timer with the setting ve chosen, set to Activate.) <Off Time> Set the <hour>, <minute>, <am/pm>, and <activate/inactivate>. (To activate the timer with the setting youve chosen, set to Activate.) <Volume> Set the desired volume level. <Antenna> View antenna type. (<Air> or <Cable>). You can set the Antenna by selecting <Channel><Antenna>. <Channel> Select the desired channel. <Repeat> Select <Once>, <Everyday>, <Mon~Fri>, <Mon~Sat>, <Sat~Sun> or <Manual>. When <Manual> is selected, press the button to select the desired day of the week. Press the [ ] button over the desired day and the ( ) mark will appear. You can set the <hour>, <minute> and channel by pressing the number buttons on the remote control. Auto Power Off When you set the timer On, the television will eventually turn off if no controls are operated for 3 hours after the TV was turned on by the timer. This function is only available in timer On mode and prevents overheating, which may occur if a TV is on for too long time.
Game Mode
When connecting to a game console such as PlayStation or Xbox, you can enjoy a more realistic gaming experience by selecting game menu. <Off> - <On> Restrictions on game mode (Caution) To disconnect the game console and connect another external device, set <Game Mode> to <Off> in the setup menu.If you display the TV menu in <Game mode>, the screen shakes slightly. Picture mode is automatically changed to <Standard> and cannot be changed. Sound mode is automatically changed to <Custom> and cannot be changed. Adjust the sound using the equalizer.
If <Game Mode> is <On> :
<Game Mode> is not available in regular <TV> and <PC> mode. If the picture is poor when external device is connected to TV, check if <Game Mode> is <On>. Set <Game Mode> to <Off> and connect external devices.
MENU V-Chip (U.S.A only)
DESCRIPTION The <V-Chip> feature automatically locks out programs that are deemed inappropriate for children. The user must enter a PIN (personal ID number) before any of the <V-Chip> restrictions are set up or changed. <V-Chip> function is not available in <HDMI>, <Component> or <PC> mode. The default PIN number of a new TV set is 0-0-0-0 If you forget the PIN, press the remote-control buttons in the following sequence, which resets the pin to 0-0-0-0 : [POWER](off)[MUTE]824[POWER] (on). <Allow all>: Press to unlock all TV ratings. <Block all>: Press to lock all TV ratings.
<V-Chip Lock> - You can block rated TV Programs. <Off> - <On> <TV Parental Guidelines> - You can block TV programs depending on their rating. This function allows you to control what your children are watching. <MPAA Rating> - You can block movies depending on their <MPAA rating>. The Motion Picture Association of America(MPAA) has implemented a rating system that provides parents or guardians with information on which films are appropriate for children. <Canadian English> <Canadian French> <Downloadable U.S. Rating> - Parental restriction information can be used while watching DTV channels <Change PIN> - The <Change PIN> screen will appear. Choose any 4 digits for your PIN and enter them. As soon as the 4 digits are entered, the <Confirm New PIN> screen appears. Re enter the same 4 digits. When the Confirm screen disappears, your PIN has been memorized.
- <Anynet+> devices connected to the TV are listed.
- If you cannot find a device you want, press the red button to scan for devices. 3. Press the or button to select a particular device and press the [ ] button. It is switched to the selected device.
- <Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)> must be set to On in the <Application> menu for the <Device List> menu to appear. Switching to the selected devices may take up to 2 minutes. You cannot cancel the operation during the switching operation. The time required to scan for devices is determined by the number of connected devices. When the device scan is complete, the number of devices found are not displayed. Although the TV automatically searches the device list when the TV is turned on via the power button, devices connected to the TV may not always be automatically displayed in the device list. DESCRIPTION <Picture Test> If you think you have a picture problem, perform the picture test. Check the color pattern on the screen to see if the problem still exists. <Yes> : If the test pattern does not appear or there is noise in the test pattern, select <Yes>. There may be a problem with the TV. Contact Samsungs call center for assistance. <No> : If the test pattern is properly displayed, select <No>. There may be a problem with your external equipment. Please check your connections. If the problem still persists, refer to the external devices user manual.
<Sound Test> If you think you have a sound problem, please perform the sound test. You can check the sound by playing a built-in melody sound through the TV. <Yes> : If during the sound test you can hear sound only from one speaker or not at all, select <Yes>. There may be a problem with the TV. Contact Samsungs call center for assistance. <No> : If you can hear sound from the speakers, select <No>. There may be a problem with your external equipment. Please check your connections. If the problem still persists, refer to the external devices user manual. If you hear no sound from the TVs speakers, before performing the sound test, make sure <Speaker Select > is set to <TV speaker> in the <Sound> menu. The melody will be heard during the test even if <Speaker Select> is set to <External Speaker> or the sound is muted by pressing the [MUTE] button.

MultiScreen
What is MultiScreen ?
MultiScreen enables you to partition multiple sections on the Monitor.
1. Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. Select the MultiScreen setup program. If the pop-up screen for the software installation does not appear on the main screen, find and double-click the MultiScreen setup file on the CD-ROM. 3. When the Installation Wizard appears, click [Next]. 4. Complete the remaining software installation steps according to the instructions displayed on the screen. The software may not work properly if you do not restart the computer after the installation. The MultiScreen icon may not appear depending on the computer system and the product specifications. If the shortcut icon does not appear, press the F5 key.
MultiScreen Installation Requirements
The MultiScreen installation may be affected by the graphics card, motherboard and the networking environment.

Monitor Self-Diagnosis
You can check if the product is working properly using the Self-Diagnosis function. If a blank screen is displayed and the Power LED blinks even if the product and the PC are properly connected, perform the self-diagnosis function according to the procedures below.
1. Turn the product and the PC off. 2. Remove the D-Sub cable from the product. 3. Turn the product on. 4. If the product is working properly, the <Check Signal Cable> message appears. In this case, if a blank screen is displayed again, make sure that there is no problem with the PC and the connection.

Installation
Be sure to contact an authorized Service Center when installing your monitor in a location with heavy dust, high or low temperatures, high humidity, and exposed to chemical substances and where it operates for 24 hours such as at airports, train stations etc. Failure to do so may cause serious damage to your monitor. Do not drop the monitor when moving it. This may cause damage to the product or the person carrying it.

[DVI-D] Connect the [ HDMI/PC/DVI-D AUDIO IN ] port on the rear side of the monitor to the sound card of the PC. Note You may enjoy clear and quality sound from the computer sound card using the monitor speakers. (You don't need to install any separate speakers for your computer.) You may get a blank screen depending on the type of video card you are using, if you connect simultaneously both the D-sub and DVI cables to one computer.
Connections If you connect properly your monitor using the DVI connector but get a blank or fuzzy screen, check to see if the monitor status is set to analogue. Press 'SOURCE [ ]' button to have the monitor double-check the input signal source.
Connecting to a Macintosh
1. Using the D-sub (Analog) connector on the video card. Connect the signal cable to the D-SUB port on the back of your monitor.

Connecting to Other devices
Note This monitor allows the user to connect it to such input devices as a DVD player, a VCR or camcorder, or a DTV or TV without disconnecting the PC. The configuration at the back of the monitor may vary from product to product. The DVI to HDMI cable, digital audio optic output cable, and RCA to stereo (for PC) cable are all sold separately. Contact a Service Center to purchase any products sold separately.
Connecting TV
Note You may view television programs on the monitor if it is connected to an antenna or CATV cable without installing any separate TV reception hardware or software on your computer.
Connect the CATV cable or TV antenna cable to the "ANT IN" port on the rear side of the monitor. Make sure to use a TV antenna cable (sold separately) as the antenna cable. When using an interior antenna terminal: Check the antenna terminal on the wall first and connect the antenna cable. When using an outdoor antenna: If you are using an outdoor antenna, use a professional for installation if possible. To connect the RF cable to the antenna input terminal: Keep the copper wire portion of the RF cable straight.

Connecting DVD / DTV Set Top Box
Note Connect to the DVD / DTV Set Top Box input if the device has a [COMPONENT IN] connector. You can watch Component simply by hooking up the Component with the monitor as long as the power is on.
Connect the port of the DVD, VCR (DVD / DTV Set-Top Box) to the [R-AUDIO-L] port of the monitor. Connect the VIDEO OUT port of the DVD / DTV Set-Top Box to the [PR, PB,Y] input ports using a component video cable (PR, PB,Y). Note Select "Component" using the 'SOURCE [ ]'
If you connect the PR, PB, and Y component cables to the incorrect terminals, the screen will be displayed in red or blue. For single-family houses, install an UHF antenna to receive digital broadcasting.
Connecting HDMI
Note You can connect digital output devices to your monitor. You can enjoy better screen and sound quality. 1. Connecting Using a HDMI Cable
Input devices such as digital DVD are connected to the [HDMI IN 1] terminal of the monitor using the HDMI cable. When all the connections are completed, connect the power cords for the monitor and DVD(or the device connected to the digital output terminal). Select HDMI using the SOURCE [ ] button.
Connections 2. Connecting Using a DVI to HDMI Cable
Connect the DVI output terminal of a digital output device to the [HDMI IN 1] terminal of the monitor using a DVI to HDMI cable. Connect the red and white jacks of an RCA to stereo (for PC) cable to the same colored audio output terminals of the digital output device, and connect the opposite jack to the [HDMI/PC/DVI AUDIO IN]terminal of the monitor. 3. When all the connections are completed, connect the power cords for the monitor and DVD (or the device connected to the digital output terminal). 4. Signal Strength
Unlike analog channels, which can vary in reception quality from "snowy" to clear, digital (HDTV) channels have either perfect reception quality or you will not receive them at all. So, unlike analog channels, you cannot fine tune a digital channel. You can, however, adjust your antenna to improve the reception of available digital channels. If the signal strength meter indicates that the signal is weak, physically adjust your antenna to increase the signal strength. Adjusting the Monitor Even if you set the On-screen display to your desired language, the"Downloadable U.S. Rating" menu will appear in English only. The rating will automatically block certain categories that are more restrictive. The rating titles(For example: Humor Level.etc) and TV ratings(For example:DH,MH,H.etc) may differ depending on the broadcasting station. If you forget the PIN, press the remote-control buttons in the following sequence, which resets the pin to 0-0-0-0 : Power Off Mute 4 Power On.

Caption Mode
The Defaultis CC1. CC1 : The Primary Synchronous Caption Service. These are captions in the primary language that must be in sync with the sound, preferably matched to a specific frame.
CC2 : The Special Non-Synchronous Use Captions. This channel carries data that is intended to augment information carried in the program.
CC3 : Secondary Synchronous Caption Service. Alternate program-related caption data, typically second language captions.
CC4 : Special Non-Synchronous Use Captions. Similar to CC2. Text1 : First Text Service. This may be various non-program related data. Text2 : Second Text Service. Additional data, usually not program related. Text3 / Text4 : Third and Fourth Text Services. These data channels should be used only if Text1 and Text2 are not sufficient.

This box appears during normal operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged. 4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the monitor.

Not Optimum Mode
If there is something wrong with the input signal, a message appears on the screen or the screen goes blank although the power indicator LED is still on. The message may indicate that the monitor is out of scan range or that you need to check the signal cable.
Note Refer to Specifications > Preset Timing Modes for the resolutions or frequencies that are supported by the monitor.
Maintenance and Cleaning
1. Maintaining the Monitor Case. Clean with a soft cloth after disconnecting the power cord.
Do not use benzene, thinner or other flammable substances, or a wet cloth. We recommend a Samsung cleansing agent is used to prevent damage to the screen.
2. Maintaining the Flat Panel Display Screen. Clean with a soft cloth (cotton flannel) smoothly. Never use acetone, benzene or thinner. (They may cause flaws or deformation of the screen surface.) The user will be required to pay costs and related expenses for repair of damages caused by improper cleaning and usage.

Therefore, if there is trouble with the computer or the video card, this can cause the monitor to become blank, have poor coloring, noise, Video mode not supported, etc. In this case, first check the SOURCE of the problem, and then contact a service center or your dealer. 1. Check if the power cord and the video cables are properly connected to the computer. 2. Check if the computer beeps more than 3 times when booting. (If it does, request an after-service for the main board of the computer.) 3. If you installed a new video card or if you assembled the PC, check if you installed the adapter (video) driver and the monitor driver. 4.Check if the scanning ratio of the video screen is set at 56 Hz ~ 75 Hz. (Do not exceed 60 Hz when using the maximum resolution.) 5. If you have problems in installing the adapter (video) driver, boot the computer in Safe Mode, remove the Display Adapter at the "Control Panel, System, Device Administrator" and then reboot the computer to reinstall the adapter (video) driver.
