In place of a conventional fluorescent backlight, the UN40B6000 uses a series of LEDs. LED backlighting dramatically improves picture contrast, expanding the range of gray tones from absolute black to brilliant white. It also increases the number of available colors you'll primarily notice deeper reds and greens. Images have tremendous punch and impact, and colors look more nuanced and natural. An LED backlight also doesn't require as much power. In fact, Samsung's 2009 LED HDTVs consume up to 40% less power than last year's conventional LCD sets.
120Hz refresh rate for smooth motion
While most HDTVs still use a 60Hz refresh rate, the UN40B6000 doubles it to 120Hz. Together with Samsung's Auto Motion Plus technology, this creates a smoother picture with less motion blur something you'll definitely appreciate if you watch a lot of action movies or fast-paced sports. You'll also notice that images have a more solid, three-dimensional look.
A variety of viewing options
The UN40B6000 gives you four HDMI inputs and a component video input for connecting your high-definition gear. The HDMI inputs offer "CEC" control which lets you operate compatible HDMI-equipped Samsung components using only the TV's remote. So if you keep your components hidden away in a cabinet, you can control them without using a remote repeater system. The component video input also doubles as a composite input, letting you connect a standard-definition device such as a VCR or camcorder.

Just Excellent

This TV is excellent. I went to numerous local stores to view about 10 different TV's that would fit in the space provided and to see what deals were out there to save a little $$ in the process. Well Crutchfield surely delivered on both accounts. 1st and foremost this TV is super clear and bright compared to others. My local store had this and my second choice mounted side by side so it was easy to compare. So the next questions was should I spend the extra $$ on the LED backlit LCD TV and after making up my mind I'm glad I did. The technology that's built into this TV just makes sport watching seamless especially auto racing. The only thing I can't comment on is the sound. I have the TV in an entertainment cabinet hooked up to my surround sound system. Now buying was easy as well. My local store didn't have it in stock and didn't know when they were going to get more so it was off to the internet and trusty Crutchfield to see what they could do for me. Well they had it in stock and on sale w/ free delivery to my door. you can beat that. But you can. Within the 30 days price guarantee the TV went on sale for a better price and after one phone call the deal just got sweeter saving me a bit more green. Thanks Crutchfield.
