Other than the SATA ports placement, I like the board. Worked right out of the box with not one issue. The P55 platform is supposed to getting a little long in the tooth by now, but this mainboard with i7-870 CPU in it, 8GB of DDR3-1600 RipJaws RAM.

Safety Instructions
Read and understand all the instructions to avoid injury to yourself and damage to the equipment.
Do not expose to extreme temperatures (above 95F or below 23F). Do not expose to moisture. Do not apply excessive pressure to the device. Do not let any foreign matter spill into the device.

Earphones

Follow Traffic Safety Instructions
q Do not use the earphones while driving an automobile or riding a bicycle. Its not only dangerous, but also against the law. q It may cause an accident if you turn up the volume of the earphones while walking down the street, especially crossing at intersections.

Protect your ears

Do not place heavy objects on top of the device. Do not expose to chemicals such as benzene and thinners. Remove batteries when the device is left unused for a long period of time. q Do not turn up the volume too high. Doctors warn against prolonged exposure to high volume. q Stop using the device or turn the volume down if you have ringing in your ears.
Ambient operating conditions
Do not expose to direct sunlight or heat sources. Do not store in dusty areas. Do not try to disassemble and repair the device yourself. q Ambient temperature: 5C ~ 35C (41F ~ 95F) Humidity : 10 ~ 75%

Removable Storage Device
You can easily copy and paste files to the yepp player using Windows Explorer.

MP3 & WMA Playback

MP3 is an MPEG1 Layer3 audio format. WMA is a Microsoft Windows Media audio format.
Featuring an Encoding Function
You can make a MP3 file out of an source using the ENC jack on the main unit. You can also convert an FM radio program into an MP3 file in real time.

FM Reception

Listening to an FM program is made easy with Auto Search and Frequency Memory functions.

Upgradable

You can upgrade the built-in programs when available. Add functions, CODEC, etc. Please check the yepp home page (http://www.samsungyepp.com) for upgrades.

q Install the operating system in Administrator Account mode for Windows 2000 or XP. Otherwise, installation will not be completed. q Windows ME, 2000 and XP can recognize the driver without installing the provided program. However, you must install the program in order to format yepp and upgrade firmware. q If the YP-55 program has not been installed in Windows 98, then it will not communicate with your removable disk. You must install the USB driver file first.
Insert the Installation CD into CD-ROM drive. The picture shown below appears. Select [USB Driver Install].
Click [Next] in the series of windows that appear.

How to check USB driver

Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the back of the PC. Connect the opposite end of the USB cable to the USB cable port on the bottom of the yepp.
q If you disconnect the USB cable from your PC while implementing a command or initializing during USB driver installation, your PC may not function correctly. q The yepp will automatically turn on.

USB connect cable

REC / ENC
USB driver is installed with a message saying that it is searching for a new device. You may not see the display screen during installation. Go to the device manager to check that installation has been successfully completed. Upon installation of the USB driver "SAMSUNG YP-55 will appear in the [System Properties] [Device Manager].
When USB driver is not Installed automatically, refer to next page.
For WinXP, the following window will appear whenever you connect the USB cable to your yepp.

Manual Installation of USB Driver
Go to Downloading/Uploading files on page 20 if the USB driver is in place. Follow these steps if the USB driver is not in place :

Check the device manager.
Windows 98,ME: Control Panel System Device Manager Windows 2000: Control Panel System Hardware Device Manager Windows XP: Control Panel System Hardware Device Manager
After selecting the driver, click on [Update Driver].
Check if there is a device listed with an exclamation point or a question mark (displayed as unknown device or USB device). Double click on the device listed with an exclamation point or a question mark.
Select a compatible driver, click on [Next] to finish.
For Windows 98, refer to page 18.
q If you are using Windows 2000 and your version of Windows does not recognize the USB driver please download and install the latest service pack from windowsupdate.microsoft.com q The installation method may vary depending on the type of PC or operating system. Contact your PC dealer or service center for installation information. q If errors occur continuously when you install the USB driver, reconnect the USB cable after rebooting your system.

After completing the file transmission, you must disconnect the cable in the following way:
Turn on the yepp and connect yepp to PC. Open Windows Explorer on PC. Select the file to save and drag-and-drop it into the removable disk icon. (In numerical, alphabetical order) Notice :
q The WRITING/READING message will appear during file download or upload. Disconnecting the USB cable while WRITING/READING is displayed may cause malfunction of the unit. q Files within a user created folder can only be played in Music Mode. q The order of music files is not relative to the replay order when you select a Removable Disk in Windows Explorer.
Double-click on the green arrow in the taskbar on the bottom right of the window. Disconnect the USB cable.
Select the USB device, and then press the [Stop] button.
The green arrow is not displayed on the Task Bar in Windows 98 system. If READY message is shown in Display window, please disconnect the USB cable.

Insert the Installation CD into CD-ROM drive. The picture shown below appears. Select [Samsung YP-55 Installer].
After installation is complete, click on the OK button.
q The driver can be recognized by Machintosh without installing an extra program. The appropriate program however must be installed to format and upgrade the firmware. q You cannot install softwares for YP-55 in Macintosh OS 10.0 - 10.2.5.
When you install a program in Macintosh OS X, it may check the user login information.

Turn on the yepp and connect yepp to Macintosh. A untitled or unlabelled portable disc will appear on the Macintosh screen. Select the file to save and drag-and-drop it into the removable disk icon. Notice :

Disconnecting the USB cable while WRITING/READING is displayed may cause malfunction of the unit. q Make sure to empty the trash after deleting a file from the portable disc in order to free up space to download additional files.

Listening to FM Radio
While the player is stopped, select FM Mode by using the button.
Manual Search for a Frequency
Turn the lever briefly to find the frequency you want.
Automatic Search for a Frequency
Turn and hold the lever to automatically find and tune in to a transmitted frequency.

q Press the WOW button briefly while in FM Mode. q The stored frequencies are successively searched.

Firmware Upgrade

Download the latest Firmware from www.samsungyepp.com Install the latest Firmware program on your PC. Connect to the USB port on your PC using the USB cable or adapter while holding the play button on the main body. If you press the Play button more than 5 seconds, the Player Recovery Device message is displayed on Device Manager as shown in the picture on the right. Run the upgrade program.
The upgrade window will appear when the Recovery process is complete. Ensure that Quick Download is deselected. Click Start to begin the upgrade.

The upgrade is complete.

Reconnect the USB for the driver to be newly recognized.
When the program is running, the screen will show the progress.
q If you do not release Quick Download, you cannot proceed to upgrade. q When the Quick Download is deselected, formatting will commence at the same time, and the saved file will be deleted. q If your operating system is Windows 98, you will have to restart the YP-55 Upgrade program.

Troubleshooting

yepp does not work and the LCD displays nothing. q Check the battery capacity q Check to see if the battery is inserted to the right poles ( The buttons do not work. q Check setting of Hold switch. q When the message "Please Reformat" is displayed, please format your YP-55 by installing the software using Windows Explorer. yepp keeps being turned off. q In Stop mode, the power is automatically turned off after ten seconds (changes depending on settings). q Check to see if there are files saved in it. Somethings wrong with play time displayed during Play mode. q VBR SONG message is displayed while VBR (Variable Bit Rate) file is playing.
In PLAY mode, music is not played after pressing the button q Check to see if MP3 or WMA files are saved in the built-in memory. q Check to see if the HOLD switch is locked. q Check if the REC button is on. q Check if the memory is full. Files cannot be downloaded. q Check to see if the driver is installed correctly in the computer. q Check the connection between yepp and computer. q Check and/or replace the battery, turn on the yepp's power. q The Windows98 operating system limits the number of files you can save. Please save your music files by creating a subfolder. Backlight does not work. q Check the backlight setup. q When the battery power is low, the backlight will go out.

Warranty
Samsung warrants this product as free of defects in material, design and workmanship for the period of twelve(12) months from the original date of purchase. If during the period of warranty this product proves defective under normal use and service, you should return the product to the retailer from whom it was originally purchased. The liability of Samsung and its appointed maintenance company is limited to the cost of repair and/or replacement of the unit under warranty. WARRANTY CONDITIONS:

1. The warranty is only valid when the warranty card is properly completed, and upon presentation of the proof of purchase consisting of original invoice or sales slip confirmation, indicating the date of purchase, dealers name, model, serial No. and product number. Samsung reserves the right to refuse warranty service if this information has been removed or changed after the original purchase of the product from the dealer. 2. Samsung's obligations are to the repair of the defective part, and at its discretion, replacement of the product (service exchange unit). 3.Warranty repairs must be carried out by an Authorized Samsung Dealer/Service Center. No reimbursement will be made for repairs carried out by non Samsung Centers, and warranty coverage will not be valid for any repairs or damage caused by such repairs. 4. Repair or replacement under the terms of this warranty does not give right to extension to or a new starting of the period of warranty. Repair or direct replacement under the terms of this warranty may be fulfilled with functionally equivalent service exchange units.
5. The warranty is not applicable in cases other than defects in material, design and workmanship. The warranty does not cover the following: x Periodic checks, maintenance, repair and replacement of parts due to normal wear and tear. x Abuse or misuse, including but not solely limited to the failure to use this product for its normal purposed or in accordance with Samsung's instructions usage and maintenance. x The product has been used in conjunction with accessories not approved by Samsung for use with this product. x Failure of the product arising from incorrect installation or use not consistent with technical or safety standards in current force, or failure to comply with product manual instructions. x Accidents, Acts of God or any cause beyond the control of Samsung caused by lightning, water, fire, public disturbances and improper ventilation.

x Unauthorized modifications carried out for the product to comply with local or national technical standards in countries for which the Samsung product was not originally designed. x Repairs performed by non-authorized service centers such as opening of the product by a non-authorized person. x The model, serial No. and product number on the product has been altered, deleted, removed or made illegible. 6. This warranty does not affect the consumers statutory rights nor the consumers rights against the dealer from their purchase/sales agreement.

Photo Playback

Samsung Multimedia Software transfers JPEG images onto the P2 for viewing on the device. Images can be zoomed and re-centered. Any JPEG on the P2 can become the wallpaper during music playback.

FM Tuner

The built-in FM Tuner will scan the entire FM range in less than 60 seconds and automatically place the available FM stations into presets. To eliminate stations with marginal reception, users can adjust the sensitivity to only preset stations with strong reception.

Bluetooth 2.0

Bluetooth is a wireless standard which will enable the P2 to pair with other Bluetooth 2.0 devices. The range of the Bluetooth connection is 32.8 feet. P2 comes ready to pair with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headphones and speaker systems to provide high quality wireless listening. Integration with cell phones is ready via firmware upgrade in November 2007. Bluetooth accessories sold separately.
Text Viewer and File Browser
This allows users to view text files on the P2. Text color is customizable and can be viewed in a portrait or landscape view. P2 also comes with a file viewer which allows for users to view and delete any file on the device without the PC.
3" Widescreen LCD with Touch Control
P2 Comes with a 3" WQVGA screen which allows for widescreen viewing in the DVD friendly 16:9 format. The touch screen also reacts to consumers gestures using EmoTure, an input system built by Samsung that goes beyond just merely tapping selections. Users can utilize simple directional slides to easily interact with the menu (i.e. slide fingers across the screen right for FF or left for RW).
Built-in NAND Flash Memory
Samsung uses high-quality NAND flash memory for the P2. Because flash memory is static (no moving parts), battery life, menu speed, player size and weight, and player durability are greatly improved over devices which use hard drives.
