I cannot reiterate enough that you must flash this device with the Australian firmware - it really makes this device usable after WMP 11 causes proble... Easiest way to get usb drive function in windows and to unlock this unit is to downoad: 20070522143600703_Samsung-YP-U2-V2.211-OC_th. Kudos to Newegg for fast shipping as usual. It had no problems being detected by my computers at home or work.

nice item! very practical! has got a large memory and long lasting battery. small and easy to carry. Not satisfied I have bought two of these from Amazon, and both have broken. The first one I bought was broke when it came.

Worked fine until it it popped apart from the battery swelling I had my charging and noticed the case was coming apart and could not be pushed back to... Excellent I bought a 512 MB version of the same 3 years ago (October 2006). it works like a charm. Had no issues with it.

It is light to use. USB storage, easy to connect to PC no necklace included, no color screen I needed a usb storage and mp3 player so I choose one with everthing. all in one, radio FM, voice recorder and mp3 player something to carry

Samsung YP-U2 is a good Digital Audio Player like MP3, wma, and wav. I have one since i an in 2nd class of senior high school until now. MP3 Samsung YP-U2 is very good and unique, with a clear voice mp3 YP-U2 song can save up to 512mb, not only is this mp3 can record voice.

The YPU2J MP3 players are HORRIBLE never buy one!!! I own two of these LITTLE PieCES OF EXCREMENT. Works as advertised I needed a flash player that could meet my needs for dowloading audio books.

Overview
AVS Mobile Uploader is a wizard-styled application, which allows you to upload the media files from your personal computer to your mobile devices: mobile phone, personal digital assistant, Sony PSP and alike. Device selection option allows you to choose between different mobile devices depending on means of their connection to your personal computer. To start AVS Mobile Uploader go to Start menu and choose All Programs -> AVS4YOU -> Mobiles -> AVS Mobile Uploader.
Using AVS Mobile Uploader
First of all you should select the type of device you would like to upload your media file to:
Press Find Devices button to start searching for the available mobile devices.
Note: if you'd like to upload your files to a mobile phone, you should connect it to your personal computer via Bluetooth or Infrared. USB connection is only supported if the mobile phone or memory card is seen by the personal computer as a removable drive or a fixed drive. See the Appendix section to find out more on the available means of communication between your computer and mobile device.
After that you should select one of the devices to which you would like to upload your media files using the drop-down box.

Now you can select the media files that you would like to upload to your mobile device.

Buttons

Description Used to select one or several media files that should be uploaded to your mobile device and add them to the list. Used to select a folder containing media files that you would like to upload to your mobile device and add them to the list. Used to remove the selected media file from the list of the files that you would like to upload to your mobile device. After you are satisfied with the list of the media files that you would like to send to the mobile device press the Upload >> button to start the uploading process.
The duration of the upload process depends on the number of media files selected, their size and the type of the communication used between the personal computer and the mobile device selected.

You can upload the same files to a different device using the drop-down box to select a new device.
Note: if you upload your files to an Apple iPod, while it is connected to your personal computer it will show the message of the type:
You can still disconnect your iPod from the computer, no data will be lost in case you haven't tried to copy it to iPod using some other software.

Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks, also known as IEEE 802.15.1. Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices like personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers and digital cameras via a secure, low-cost, globally available short range radio frequency. Bluetooth is a radio standard primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range (power class dependent: 1 meter, 10 meters, 100 meters) and with a low-cost transceiver microchip in each device.
Infrared data transmission is also employed in short-range communication among computer peripherals and personal digital assistants or mobile phones. These devices usually conform to standards published by IrDA, the Infrared Data Association. Remote controls and IrDA devices use infrared light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to emit infrared radiation which is focused by a plastic lens into a narrow beam. The beam is modulated, i.e. switched on and off, to encode the data. The receiver uses a silicon photodiode to convert the infrared radiation to an electric current. It responds only to the rapidly pulsing signal created by the transmitter, and filters out slowly changing infrared radiation from ambient light. Infrared communications are useful for indoor use in areas of high population density. Infrared does not penetrate walls and so does not interfere with other devices in adjoining rooms. Infrared is the most common way for remote controls to command appliances.

The USB mobile devices it can communicate with the computer in the following ways: Devices that represent USB Mass Storage Device Class (MSC or UMS) are seen as a removable drive in the system and some of them as a fixed drive. Devices representing USB MTP Device Class use Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) supported by Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 and 11. Devices that use Microsoft ActiveSync for communication, i.e. mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs or pocket PCs with Microsoft Windows Mobile or Microsoft Windows CE installed. For these devices support you need to have a personal computer running Windows 2000 SP4, Windows 2003, Windows XP with ActiveSync program v4.5 or later installed or running Windows Vista with Windows Mobile Device Center v6 or later installed. Depending on the communication type used different file types might be available for upload to the same devices.

What is Easy Start CD?
The Easy Start CD provides a simple way for you to get started using a PlaysForSureTM portable music device by quickly and easily installing any necessary software needed including Windows Media Player 10 and support for online music stores. This CD will also show you how to rip CDs, download new music from an online store, manage your music with Windows Media Player 10 and take it with you on your new portable music device.

What is PlaysForSure?

PlaysForSure is a logo and testing program that ensures content compatibility of online music stores and portable music devices. When you see the PlaysForSure logo on the product box of a music device, you know it will work with content from the widest range of online stores and services that also carry this logo.

Long press for power on/off. Short press for play/pause. Long press to move to the Menu screen. Short press to move to the previous screen. Long press to scan to a point on the current track. Use the USB Cable provided when connecting the product to a PC.

What is DNSe?

DNSe is a sound effect function for MP3 players developed by Samsung and consists of 3D and Street modes. The 3D adds a stereophonic sound effect to the music and the Street mode provides an automatic volume control function that amplifies quiet sounds in noisy street environments.
<DNSe> : You can select a suitable sound for each music genre. Select one from <Normal> <3D-Club> <3D-Stage> <3D-Studio> <Ballad> <Classical> <Jazz> <Dance> <House> <R & B> or <Rock>. <Street Mode>: Enables clear sound quality outdoors. Select either <Off> or <On>. <Key Beep>: Enables button sounds. Select either <Off> or <On>.

Press the Reset Button at the bottom of the product with a pointed object such as a safety clip.

The system will be initialized. The Reset function will not delete data stored in the built-in memory.

To Upgrade Firmware

Future upgrades may be available for this player to enhance performance and compatibility.
1 Connect to http://www.samsung.com, select [SUPPORT] [DOWNLOAD CENTER] and then select your product.
2 When the product page appears, select [Firmware] below the model name to download the latest firmware. 3 Uncompress the downloaded file in a folder.

Problem Power will not turn on.
Check points & Troubleshooting
Power will not turn on if the batteries are fully discharged. Recharge the batteries and turn the power on again. Check if the [HOLD] switch is in the HOLD position. Check if you pressed the right button, then press again. Press the Reset Button. If you had set <Off(Batt)> or <Off(USB)> in <Settings> in the <Display> Menu, the screen may look very dim. Press a button to turn on the screen. The screen may not be visible under direct sunlight.

Buttons do not work.

The screen will not turn on.

Power is turning off.

The power is automatically turned off when the battery is fully discharged. Recharge the battery.

Battery life differs from the Manual.
The battery life shortens slowly over time as it is a consumable item. Product life may be shortened when left for extended periods in low or high temperatures.

Check if the available file has been saved in the memory. Check if the music file is damaged. Check if there is enough battery power. Check if the USB cable is securely connected. Reconnect if necessary. Check if the memory is full. Press the Reset button.

Playing is disabled.

File upload is disabled.
Files or Data are Missing.
Check if the USB cable has been disconnected during file or data transmission. If this is the case, it may cause serious damage not only to files/data but also to the product. You have to be extra cautious as Samsung is not held responsible for data loss.
Abnormal Play Time Display during Play. Abnormal Display of File Name.
Check if the file is in VBR (Variable Bit Rate) format. Move to <Settings> <Language> in the Menu screen and set an appropriate language.
Problem Program Malfunction
Please check if the PC requirements are met. Press <Start> on the toolbar of your PC to run Windows Update. Select Key Updates and Service Packs, then update all. Reboot the PC and reconnect. Heat may be generated during recharging. This has no effect on the product life or functions.
Connection to a PC is disabled.

Warranty

Samsung warrants this product as free of defects in material, design and workmanship for a period of twelve(12) months from the original date of purchase. If during the period of warranty this product proves defective under normal use and service, you should return the product to the retailer from whom it was originally purchased. The liability of Samsung and its appointed maintenance company is limited to the cost of repair and/or replacement of the unit under warranty. Return of the product for defective reasons should be to the original purchaser; however, Samsung Authorized Dealers and Authorized Service Centers will comply with the warranty on the terms issued to purchasers in the country concerned. WARRANTY CONDITIONS:

1.The warranty is only valid when the warranty card is properly completed, and upon presentation of the proof of purchase consisting of original invoice or sales slip confirmation, indicating the date of purchase, dealers name, model, serial No. and product number. Samsung reserves the right to refuse warranty service if this information has been removed or changed after the original purchase of the product from the dealer. 2.Samsung's obligations are to the repair of the defective part, and at its discretion, replacement of the product (service exchange unit). 3.Warranty repairs must be carried out by an Authorized Samsung Dealer/Service Center. No reimbursement will be made for repairs carried out by non Samsung Centers, and warranty coverage will not be valid for any repairs or damage caused by such repairs. 4.Repair or replacement under the terms of this warranty does not give right to extension to or a new starting of the period of warranty. Repair or direct replacement under the terms of this warranty may be fulfilled with functionally equivalent service exchange units.
5. The warranty is not applicable in cases other than defects in material, design and workmanship. The warranty does not cover the following:
