A great cam for the money. Outstanding picture with little to no lag in the video. Easy to use and very simple. like the combination camera and mike Remember the days of having a crappy Web-cam that was slow and generally unresponsive and also having a weird and obtrusive microphone on your compute...

I am very happy with this camera. I suggest shopping around for the best price, as the price can vary greatly. I have used this cam without the provided software on Windows XP and it operates well. I purchased this principally for use with Skype for communicating with my daughter and it worked perfectly. I would highly recommend it.

I got the LifeCam VX-5000 for when I talk to my family in Florida for them to be able to see me and my family here in WI. Tried installing and it crashed, now get tons of errors when trying to boot my computer. I have tried everything to fix. I am very happy with this camera. I suggest shopping around for the best price, as the price can vary greatly.

When the setup value is too great, outside of the shading area may be read, and black streaks may be produced on the edges. When the adjustment value is increased, the image is shifted to the left. When the adjustment value is decreased, the image is shifted to the right. Memory reverse position adjustment in duplex copy When this simulation is executed, the current setup value of correction is displayed. Enter the correction value with the 10-key and press the PRINT switch, and the entered value will be saved. (Correction value 1 99, correction zero = 0, or 50) When the correction value is set to 0, the correction value is written as 50. Front surface printing in the S-D mode and printing on even pages in the D-S mode are reverse memory copy operations from the document rear edge section. When, therefore, the output image print position adjustment is required, adjust as follows: In the reverse memory copy operation, if the document scan direction is in the direction of the arrow in the figure, the scan rear edge section of the image is printed first. When, therefore, the print lead edge is shifted, set the reference chart so that the reference position is in the rear edge section, and use this simulation to adjust so that the print image lead edge comes to the lead edge. Since printing is performed by processing the scanned image from the scan end position to the scan lead edge, the print lead edge position adjustment is performed by changing the end data position stored in memory with the simulation setup value.

Identifying Unit Problems
When any trouble has occurred in the unit, first, verify whether you can make a copy or not with the unit. Check the items shown below when the unit does not work properly but it can make a copy.
Reference: If any copier trouble occurs, refer to "TROUBLESHOOTING" in the Operation Manual.

Make sure that the unit is not working. You cannot print from your computer or scan from the unit while the unit is making copies.
The unit's scanning function can only be used if the unit is connected to your computer with a USB cable.
If you fail to solve the problem after verifying all the items listed above, please contact your authorized SHARP service center.
If the USB cable becomes disconnected
If the USB cable becomes disconnected, even only once during the unit's operation, then printing and scanning may be disrupted. If this occurs, check the USB cable and ensure that it is securely connected, then restart the computer. Interface cables compatible with this unit are USB and parallel cables. Check which type of cable is supported by your computer, and then purchase one of the following cables accordingly: USB cable Shielded twisted pair cable (6 feet Max.: high-speed transmission equivalent) Parallel interface cable IEEE 1284 - Shielded type bi-directional parallel interface cable (6 feet Max.)
CHECK1 Is the interface cable compatible with the unit and computer?
The unit's scanning function can only be used if the unit is connected to your computer with a Caution USB cable.
CHECK2 Is the interface cable connected securely?
Check if the interface cable is securely plugged into the connectors of the unit and computer. It is also advisable to ensure that the connector pins are not bent.
Reference: See "CONNECTING THE INTERFACE CABLE" in the Operation Manual for more details on interface connection.
CHECK3 Are any other USB peripherals being connected along with the unit?
If other USB peripherals are connected through the same hub, disconnect them to see if the problem still exists.
CHECK3 If your computer is connected to the unit through the parallel port, is the parallel port (LPT) mode set to other than EPP mode?
The unit may not operate correctly if the parallel port mode is set to EPP mode. To set the parallel port mode to a mode other than EPP mode, refer to your computer manual or ask the manufacturer of the computer. ECP mode is recommended to obtain the best performance from the unit. Note that some computers may use different names for the modes. If you are using Windows XP, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" may appear after you change the port setting. In this case, click the "Cancel" Caution button to close the wizard, and then reinstall the printer driver as explained in "INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE" in the Operation Manual.

Reference: Plug and Play Screen does not Appear (when the USB is connected)
CHECK1 Is there enough computer memory or hard disk space?
To use this unit, you must have an adequate amount of hard disk space. If there is insufficient hard disk space, delete unnecessary files to increase the free space of the hard disk. If there is insufficient memory, close unnecessary applications to increase memory available for printing or scanning.
