Precautions on battery use Do not leave an exhausted battery in the equipment. Do not expose the battery to water or flame, and do not take it apart. Store batteries out of the reach of small children.

USING THE CALCULATOR FOR THE FIRST TIME
First, pull out the insulation sheet for the memory protection battery (installed for retaining the date/time, conversion rate, and tax/discount rate information). Reset the calculator to initialize the unit's state, then adjust the date and time.

PAPER ROLL REPLACEMENT

Never insert paper roll if torn. Doing so will cause paper to jam. Always cut leading edge with scissors first. 1) Insert the leading edge of the paper roll into the opening. OPERATING CONTROLS
POWER SWITCH; PRINT / ITEM COUNT MODE SELECTOR: OFF: Power off. : Power ON. Set to the non-print mode. P: Power ON. Set to the print mode. PIC: Power ON. Set to the print and item count mode. 1) The counter will count the number of times that the key has been pressed in addition. Note: Each time the key is used in subtraction, 1 will be subtracted from the count. The count is printed when the calculated result is obtained. Pressing of the , , , or key clears the counter. 2) When the grand total/rate setting mode selector is in the ON position (GT), the counter will count the number of times that the calculation results have been stored in the grand total memory. To print and clear the count, press the key. 3) The memory item counter will count the number of times that the key has been pressed in the addition. Note: Each time the key is used in the subtraction, 1 will be subtracted from the count. The count is printed when the memory is recalled. Pressing of the key clears the counter. Note: The counter has a maximum capacity of 3 digits (up to 999). If the count exceeds the maximum, the counter will recount from zero.

This warranty shall not apply to: (a) Any defects caused or repairs required as a result of abusive operation, negligence, accident,improper installation or inappropriate use as outlined in the owners manual. (b) Any Sharp product tampered with, modified, adjusted or repaired by any party other than Sharp,Sharps Authorized Service Centres or Sharps Authorized Servicing Dealers. (c) Damage caused or repairs required as a result of the use with items not specified or approved by Sharp, including but not limited to software, paper and batteries. (d) Any replacement of accessories, glassware, consumable or peripheral items required through normal use of the product including but not limited to batteries, AC adapters, ribbons, correction tapes, ink rollers, cables, printwheel, or paper. (e) Any cosmetic damage to the surface or exterior that has been defaced or caused by normal wear and tear. (f) Any damage caused by external or environmental conditions, including but not limited to transmission line/power line voltage or liquid spillage. (g) Any product received without appropriate model, serial number and CSA/CUL markings. (h) Any products used for rental purposes. (i) Any installation, setup and/or programming charges. Should this Sharp product fail to operate during the warranty period, warranty service may be obtained upon delivery of the Sharp product together with proof of purchase and a copy of this LIMITED WARRANTY statement to an Authorized Sharp Service Centre or an Authorized Sharp Servicing Dealer. This warranty constitutes the entire express warranty granted by Sharp and no other dealer, service centre or their agent or employee is authorized to extend, enlarge or transfer this warranty on behalf of Sharp. To the extent the law permits, Sharp disclaims any and all liability for direct or indirect damages or losses or for any incidental, special or consequential damages or loss of profits resulting from a defect in material or workmanship relating to the product, including damages for the loss of time or use of this Sharp product or the loss of information. The purchaser will be responsible for any removal, reinstallation, transportation and insurance costs incurred. Correction of defects, in the manner and period of time described herein, constitute complete fulfillment of all obligations and responsibilities of Sharp to the purchaser with respect to the product and shall constitute full satisfaction of all claims, whether based on contract, negligence, strict liability or otherwise. INK RIBBON REPLACEMENT

1. Remove the paper roll from the calculator. (Tear the paper and remove it from the print mechanism by using.) 2. Turn the power off before replacing ribbon. 3. Remove the printer cover by sliding it towards the back of the calculator. (Fig. 1) 4. Remove the old ribbon by pulling it up. 5. Insert the new ribbon. 6. With the black side of the ribbon facing upwards, place one of the reels on the reel shaft on the right. (Fig. 2) Make sure that the reel is securely in place. 7. Thread the ribbon around the outside of the metal guides. (Fig. 3) 8. Take up any slack by manually turning one of the reels. 9. Replace the printer cover. 10. Replace the paper roll.
REMPLACEMENT DU RUBAN ENCREUR
1. Retirer le rouleau de papier de la calculatrice. (Dchirer le papier et le retirer du mcanisme dimpression au moyen de.) 2. Avant de remplacer le ruban encreur, mettez lappareil hors tension. 3. Dposer le couvercle de limprimante en le faisant glisser vers larrire de la calculatrice. (Fig. 1) 4. Retirez le ruban encreur usag en le tirant vous. 5. Introduisez le ruban encreur. 6. Prsenter le ruban avec son ct noir dirig vers le haut, engager une des bobines sur laxe de la bobine de gauche. (Fig. 2) Sassurer que la bobine est bien en place. 7. Mettre en place le ruban en le faisant passer lextrieur des guides mtalliques. (Fig. 3) 8. Si le ruban est lche, le tendre en tournant une des bobines la main. 9. Remettre le couvercle de limprimante en place. 10. Rinstaller le rouleau de papier.
CAMBIO DE LA CINTA ENTINTADA
1. Quitar el rollo de papel de la calculadora. (Cortar el papel y sacarlo del mecanismo impresor usando.) 2. Desconecte el aparato antes de cambiar la cinta. 3. For multi-voltage type calculator only: This calculator is designed for operation on a variety of voltage. Prior to use, before connecting the AC plug to the wall outlet, make sure the voltage selector on the bottom of the calculator is set to the proper voltage. The window of the selector indicates the voltage set. To change the voltage setting, turn the voltage selector in the counterclockwise direction with a standard flathead screwdriver as shown below. The voltage can be set to any one of 240, 220, 127 or 110 volts. Using the calculator with the voltage selector improperly set will cause damage to the unit. Note: When operating on 120V, set the voltage selector to 127V.
