Switchable 2D/3D display without the need for special glasses
The LL-151-3D uses Sharp's TFT 3D LCD Technology to offer realistic visualization with a complete sense of depth that has not been previously available in LCD displays. The technology makes the image on the screen appear in 3 dimensions without the need for the user to wear special glasses. Sharp's TFT 3D LCD technology offers clear and precise 3D visualization and can be switched to normal 2D display mode electronically, offering a single display for both 3D visualization and normal 2D work.

In 2D mode

The switching crystal opens the parallax barrier allowing light to penetrate so that the same light reaches both eyes, causing the image to be identified as 2D.

Switching between 2D and 3D display mode can be performed simply by pressing the 3D button on the display. This activates or deactivates the parallax barrier allowing the display to be used in either mode.

Software addressable 2D/3D Mode
The 2D/3D switching is activated by the Sharp 3D Technology interface, allowing software programmers to make their 3D applications intelligent. The interface is bi-directional, meaning that software can detect the switch activation and enable or disable 3D visualization accordingly. The communication between the 3D button and the PC is enabled through the built in USB connection.
Compatible with existing 3D software Applications
If your software supports stereoscopic viewing with 3D glasses, then it will probably work with the LL-151-3D monitor. This is because the graphics cards manufacturers who support stereo with glasses have updated their drivers to support the Sharp 3D display technology. To ensure the most up to date compatibility, check www.sharp3d.com for the most up to date list of graphics cards and driver software supporting the LL-151-3D monitor. Note that the LL-151-3D monitor will only display 3D images when the software is written to create stereoscopic display output. The LL-151-3D display will not automatically convert standard graphics output to stereoscopic output. Also stereoscopic viewing is only supported at a resolution of 1024x768. 3D visualization will not work correctly if the display resolution is set to any other value.

Information regarding stereoscopic viewing
Not everyone can see stereoscopically. Some people see only through one eye for various reasons. If you do not see depth naturally through both eyes, then you will not be able to view images stereoscopically on the LL-151-3D.

Digital (DVI) connection is recommended for LL-151-3D. Images cannot be displayed if output from the PC is in interlaced. Recommended resolution is 1,024 768. Even if the signal is in one of the compatible display mode above, the display may not appear on the screen correctly. Frequencies for the Power Macintosh and Sun Ultra are reference values. When connecting to one of the Power Macintosh Series and one of the Sun Ultra Series, a adapter (commercially available) may be necessary. As an ENERGY STAR Partner, SHARP has determined that these products meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency.
Using the Product The TFT color LCD panel used in this monitor is made with the application of high precision technology. However, there may be minute points on the screen where pixels never light or are permanently lit.Also, if the screen is viewed from an acute angle there may be uneven colors or brightness. Please note that these are not malfunctions but common phenomenon of LCDs and will not affect the performance of the monitor. Do not leave the screen idle for a long periods of time with a static image, as this could cause a residual image. The estimated backlight life of 50,000 hours is based on specific conditions of use.
