Incorrect use of the batteries may cause them to leak or explode. Please follow the precautions below.
Insert the batteries making sure the polarities correctly match the and marks inside the battery compartment. Batteries of different types have different properties, therefore do not mix batteries of different types. Do not mix new and old batteries. This may shorten the life of new batteries or may cause old batteries to leak. Remove the batteries from the remote control once they have run out, as leaving them can cause them to leak. Battery fluid from leaked batteries is harmful to your skin, therefore be sure to first wipe them and then remove them using a cloth. The batteries included with this projector may exhaust over a short period, depending on how they are kept. Be sure to replace them as soon as possible with new batteries when they have run out. Remove the batteries from the remote control if you will not be using the remote control for a long time.

Sharp XV-Z10000
This gorgeous DLP projector threatens to replace CRT as the purists choice. Niall Magennis investigates
result is a very futuristic beast with sleek, contoured lines. Setting up the Z10000 is childs play for such a high-end projector: from taking it out of the box you should be watching your first movie in no longer than ten minutes. Thankfully, Sharp has included a few handy tools to help get it going, including a cross-hatch test picture you can use to set the keystone correction accurately and a very simple but effective lens-shift dial. Naturally, once the basics are all in order, you can start delving into the menus, where youll find a bucket-load of settings to tweak. You can adjust red, green and blue levels individually, fiddle with the gamma control and choose between 61 colour temperature steps. Other goodies, such as noise reduction and progressive scan, are also provided. At the front of the projector youll find a pushbutton switch to select between the High Contrast and High Brightness modes. In High Contrast mode the projector boasts an amazing 2,600:1 ratio with a brightness level of 500 ANSI Lumens, whereas in High Brightness mode contrast is reduced to 1900:1, with brightness boosted to 800:1. All this may be impressive, but your jaw really drops when you see the XV-Z10000 in action. Images are extremely crisp and breathtakingly sharp and the high contrast ratio really shows through in the way the projector can effortlessly pull subtle detail out of darker scenes that a lesser model would render merely as blotches of black. Combine this with excellent colour reproduction and youre talking about some of the best pictures
Images are breathtakingly sharp
EARLY EIGHT GRAND IS A LOT OF money to spend on a projector in anyones book, but sometimes if you want quality, you really have to pay for it. With the XV-Z10000, youre not only paying for class, but also for the latest technology, because it uses the Mustang HD2 DLP chip from Texas Instruments. So whats the big deal with the Mustang? For starters, the chip boasts a native 16:9 aspect ratio, so there are no horrible artefacts introduced due to scaling of DVD images. The micro-mirrors
ESSENTIAL HOME CINEMA
that DLP uses to produce images are now tilted at a larger angle, so the picture is brighter. Less light now escapes from between these mirrors, so contrast has also been improved. Or at least thats what Texas Instruments says. The Mustang chip certainly lives up to the hype in the XV-Z10000. This projector really does produce stunning images, but more on that later. The Sharp unit looks impressive right from the get-go. It may be relatively large, but the designers have really put a lot of effort into the styling. The

youll see from any dedicated home cinema projector. All is not perfect, however, because some slight noise is still visible in video sections with fast paced movement. This is a problem that is broadly acceptable on lower priced DLP models, but its a shame to see remnants of it on the Z1000. The fan is also a touch noisy at 32db and the standard lens supplied isnt ideal for smaller rooms. Sharp does have an optional wide-throw lens available for an extra 760, should you find you really need it. On the whole, though, the XV-Z1000 remains an excellent light box that really does challenge the notion that truly stunning images can only be achieved with CRT projectors.
REMOTE CONTROL Sharp has done a fine job. This compact remote fits comfortably in your hand and has a simple button layout that gives you quick access to all the features you need.
