Disassemble drum comes out by turning the front hub turn clockwise & then pulling it straight out. Clean up the cartridge, clean the Corona Unit w/ compressed air. Inspect the drum & blade, Replace if needed. Reassemble.

Drum Count Reset:

When you install a new XC drum cartridge, it is equipped with a Reset Mechanism* which is designed to trip a photosensor in the machine to reset the drum count. This Reset Mechanism looks like a little gear with a flag sticking off of it. It is located on the rear of the cartridge (shown off to the right in the illustration below). You must remove & re-position the Flag gear at the 1 oclock position as shown. NOTE: If the cartridge is missing * Reset Mechanism the Reset Mechanism, the cartridge is most likely a Starter Cartridge which came with the machine at purchase time. If this is the case, youll need to reset the drum count from diagnostics as explained below.
Drum Count Reset (from Diagnostics)

First enter diagnostics: Turn power on and within 4 seconds press the following sequence: Clear, Exposure Mode, Clear,Exposure Mode (Exposure Mode is the button on the far left) The entire display including the numerics will go totally blank. To reset the drum count to 0: (24-7). Select 24, press Start, Select 7, press Start. Then turn power off & back on.

Remove the front Toner Reclaim Box & empty it out. Remove the cover behind the Reclaim Box. Remove large plug from the Toner Fill Hole. Replace the developer on the mag-roll if needed brush off old developer DONT USE A VACUUM or forced air (theres a toner sensor inside which is easily blown by static discharge) and pour new developer directly on the mag roller, turning it in as you go. Use a funnel to pour in new toner. Reassemble.

Toner Light Reset:

Automatic When powered up, the machine will stir the toner to tone-up the developer & sense when its ready. You may need to turn the machine off & back on a second time if the toner light returns at first (this happens sometimes with fresh developer & even with new ctgs.)

Important Notes:

The difference between these cartridges & the Sharp Z-810, etc. version is a physical one. The large oval shaped indexing shaft on the rear of the cartridge is positioned about differently between the two makes of cartridge.

ENTERING DIAGNOSTICS: Turn power on and within 4 seconds press the following sequence: Clear, Auto, Clear,Auto (The Auto button is also sometimes referred to as

the Exposure Mode button) The entire display including the numerics will go totally blank. Use the quanitity select keys (1s & 10s) to select the code you wish to enter.
CHECKING TOTAL COPY COUNT: (22-5)
Enter diagnostics, select 22, Print followed by 5, Print.The copy count will flash 2 digits at a time for a total of six digits (for example: 45 would indicate 12,345 copies). (Or you can do it the easy way like the customer would by holding the Clear button for 7 seconds). Use 22, Print, 12, Print to get the current drum count. DRUM SYMBOL: See page 132 for details on how the drum count resets with a new cartridge & also how to reset the count from diagnostics.
STATUS CODES: A1/A2 CODES: SDF Document Jams CH CODE: Toner Cartridge not present or not seated properly. H2 CODE: Thermistor open H3 & H4 CODES: H4=Low Fuser Temperature, H3=High Fuser Temperature could be bad Heat Lamp, bad Thermal Fuse, bad Thermistor or toner build up on the thermistor caused the Thermal Fuse to blow. Sometimes electrical storms can also cause false H4 codes. Often, the Heat Lamp and Thermal Fuse check out ok in the case of an H3 this is because the Thermal Fuse is a self resetting device. You should check out the Thermistor for positioning & cleanliness and of course, reset the code: RESETTING H CODES (14) Enter Diagnostics as shown above. Select 14, press Start, Then turn power off & back on L1/L3 CODES: Scanner problems L4 CODE: Main Motor problem L5 CODE: Lens drive problem P CODE: Paper feed problem U2 CODE: Means memory failure To clear this code, enter Diagnostics, select 16 followed by Print then exit diagnostics. NOTE: If the defect is not visible on the copies indicated above, please attach three copies which clearly show the defect. FOR PHOTORECEPTORS USED IN PRINTERS AND PLAIN PAPER FACSIMILES, include three prints which clearly show the defect. IMPORTANT: The Katun product warranty does not cover damage by operator, technician, or machine (including rotational scratches, gouges, scuff marks, or line scratches).
