PLAYABLE DISCS
This unit supports the following discs.
MP3 COMPATIBILITY
MP3 discs must be ISO 9660 Level 1 or Level 2, Joliet compliant. Supported formats : Mode 1, Mode 2. Folders can be up to eight levels deep. MP3 files must be MPEG-1/MPG-2 Audio Layer 3 format with a sampling rate of between 16 kHz and 48 kHz and a bit-rate of between 32 kbps and 320 kbps (128 kbps or 192 kbps recommended). Incompatible files cannot be played. Fixed bit-rate MP3 files are recommended, however, variable bit-rate (VBR) MP3 files between 8 kbps and 320 kbps are supported (Playing times may display incorrectly). MP3 files must have a ".mp3" or ".MP3" file name extension. MP3 files without the proper extension will not be recognized. To prevent noise and malfuction, do not use these extensions for other types of files. This unit supports up to 500 MP3 files and up to 200 folders per disc. (In this case, Disc and File names contain 30 charaters and Folder names contain 20 characters.) Files and folders in excess of this cannot be played. Note that if the file and folder structure is very complicated, this unit may not be able to read or play all of the MP3 files on the disc. If the disc, folder or file names contain many characters, this unit may not support 500 MP3 files. Disc names may contain up to 30 characters. File and folder names may contain up to 60 characters. Characters except "A~Z", "a~z", "0~9", "-", etc. cannot be played. Multisession discs are supported, however, some multisession discs may take a long time to load and some may not load at all. When burning CDs we recommend that you use a single session (disc-at-once), and select "Disc Close". The ID3 tag version 1.0 is supported.

Unplayable discs
Since this unit cannot support disc types, formats and file types not listed above, do not play such discs. Some CD-R and CD-RW discs cannot be played due to incomplete disc finalization, recording quality or physical condition of the disc, characteristics of recording device or authoring software, etc. See the operating instructions supplied with your recording divice for more information. Some audio CDs use copy protection that doesn't conform to the official CD standard. Since these are nonstandard discs, this unit cannot play them properly. This unit cannot play DTS CD.
Discs made on personal computers
Discs made on personal computers, including those of a compatible format, may not work properly in this unit because of incorrect settings in the disc burning software. Check the operating instructions supplied with your disc buring software for additional compatibility information.
Note :
With CD-R and CD-RW discs that contain many files and folders, and files other than MP3s, it may take a long time to read the disc. We recommend that you include only MP3 files on your disc, use about 20 folders, and limit folder nesting to three levels deep.
CARE AND HANDLING OF DISCS
In handling a disc, hold it carefully with edges.
Do not stick paper or write anything on the printed surface.
Fingermarks and dust on the recorded surface should be carefully wiped off with a soft cloth. Wipe straight from the inside to the outside of the disc.

System Connections
Do not plug the AC input cord into the wall AC outlet until all connections are completed. Be sure to observe the color coding when connecting audio, video and speaker cords. Make connections firmly and correctly. If not, it can cause loss of sound, noise or damage to the receiver.
CONNECTING ANTENNAS
AM LOOP
Change the position of the FM indoor antenna until you get the best reception of your favorite FM stations.
A 75 outdoor FM antenna may be used to further improve the reception. Disconnect the indoor antenna before replacing it with the outdoor one.
Place the AM loop antenna as far as possible from the receiver, TV set, speaker cords and the AC input cord and set it to a direction for the best reception. If the reception is poor with the AM loop antenna, an AM outdoor antenna can be used in place of the AM loop antenna.
CONNECTING PHONO
Do not connect the turntable with MC type cartridge directly. If so, use a separate head amplifier or step-up transformer.
CONNECTING VIDEO AND AUDIO COMPONENTS
The TV and AUX jacks may also be connected to an additional component such as a TV, DVD player, etc. The TAPE IN/OUT jacks can be connected to audio recording equipment such as a tape deck, an MD recorder, etc. The VIDEO jacks may also be connected to an additional component such as MD recorder, tape deck, etc. Note : When Sherwood CD player such as CD-772, etc. is connected to the DIGI-LINK jack for system control, you should connect the CD player to the "CD" jacks of this unit. Because, if the PLAY button, etc. is pressed on the CD player, the CD is automatically selected as an input source on this unit. Then play, etc. starts.
CONNECTING PRE OUTS or MAIN INS
You can connect either a pre amplifier or a power amplifier to this receiver. To achieve higher sound quality, connect the MAIN IN jacks to the pre amplifier and connect the speakers to this receiver. To drive speakers with higher power output, connect the PRE OUT jacks to the power amplifier and connect it to speakers. Note: When you do not use the MAIN IN and PRE OUT jacks, always connect these jacks with the supplied jumper plugs.
CONNECTING DIGI LINK
Connect this jack to the DIGI LINK jack of Sherwood CD player such as CD-772, etc. that uses the DIGI LINK remote control system.
CONNECTING SPEAKERS
Usally SPEAKER A terminals are used for only a pair of speakers. When you have another pair of speakers, SPEAKER B terminals can be used. Be sure to connect speakers firmly and correctly according to the channel(left and right) and the polarity (+ and -). If the connections are faulty, no sound will be heard from the speakers, and if the polarity of the speaker connection is incorrect, the sound will be unnatural and lack bass. Notes : For safe amplifier operation, use the speakers with impedance of over 4 when you use only SPEAKER A or B terminals and use the speakers with impedance of over 8 when you use both SPEAKER A and B terminals. Do not let the bare speaker wires touch each other or any metal part of this unit. This could damage this unit and/or the speakers.
