The classic reinvented

For more than 20 years the manufacturer with tradition, Bauer, has had the Apocalypse line in its range. The main characteristics are robustness and select high-quality components at an attractive price. These features are complemented by the racy and exquisite look in deep black. The Apocalypse feels at home in every terrain: on the way to the supermarket round the corner or cycling to work, but also on eld and woodland paths it cuts an attractive gure. The 28 aluminium frame with adjustable suspension fork and the 27-gear Shimano Deore/Deore-LX-Mix derailleur system as well as the hub dynamo provide the highlights on this bike. Multitalent mit i-motion

Was ist es denn nun das Cambridge da Curve, ein Trekking- oder ein Citybike? Die Optik mit Nabenschaltung lsst auf ein Citybike schlieen, doch bei genauem Hinsehen weist die neue i-motion-Nabe von SRAM neun Gnge auf und zwar neun unterschiedliche Gnge ohne berschneidungen wie bei Kettenschaltungen. Keine verwirrenden Tastenschalter, sondern ein simpler Drehgriff bernimmt die Bedienung. Dazu kommt noch die einstellbare RST-Federgabel Trendy und ein Shimano-Nabendynamo, der den Pilot-Halogenscheinwerfer von Basta und das Standrcklicht mit Strom versorgt. Ein verstellbarer Vorbau und die Cushy-ST-Federsattelsttze punkten auf der Komfortseite. Langnger schreckt das TrelockRahmenschloss ab. Alles in allem ist das Cambridge da Curve ein Multitalent, denn es kombiniert die besten Eigenschaften von Trekking- und Citybike.

Multi-talent with i-motion
So what is it now, the Cambridge da Curve, a trekking or city bike? Its appearance with a hub gear system would tend to indicate a city bike, but when you take a closer look, the new i-motion hub from SRAM reveals nine gears, and in actual fact nine different speeds without any overlapping as is the case with derailleur systems. No confusing button-switches, but a simple grip shift system controls the bikes functions. On top of this there is the adjustable trendy RST suspension fork and a Shimano hub dynamo which powers the Pilot halogen front-lamp from Basta and the parking rear light. The adjustable front section and the CushyST suspension saddle post really score on the comfort side, while thieves are deterred by the Trelock frame lock. All in all, the Cambridge da Curve is a multi-talent, because it combines the best features and characteristics of a trekking and city bike.

The Swiss E-Bike manufacturer Biketec AG is presenting an E-Bike Tandem for the 2007 season. The often older Tandem users thus have a third man on board who helps them out when the going gets tough. The new S-Series is carrying on from where the T-Series 2005 left off: a rejuvenation of the bike model: new E-Bikes are not only at the highest level technically, but as all-rounders with a high performance and lots of sporty features, are also directed at younger (or young-at-heart) riders. In addition to the optical tuning, the electronics in the Emotor have also been optimized to sports-based applications and now support up to 85 pedal revolutions per minute. Depending on the rechargeable battery and the way it is ridden, the S-Series has a range of up to 60 km. The tandem will be available from March 2007.

Sie fahren nachts ber die Felder und sehen einen superhellen Lichtkegel, der Ihnen entgegen kommt. Es ist weder ein Auto noch ein Ufo sondern ein Radler mit der neuen Big Bang von Busch & Mller. Es handelt sich um den ersten High Performance-Gasentladungsscheinwerfer (100 Lux), der auch die Anforderungen der StVZO fr den Straenverkehr erfllt. Der computerberechnete Reektor bewirkt eine optimale Lichtverteilung, ohne zu blenden. Die Gasentladungsbirne verschleit nicht und leuchtet mit dem zigarettenschachtelgroen Lithium-Ionen-Akku bis zu 4,5 Stunden. Elektronische Laderegelung und Tiefentladeschutz sowie Rest-Kapazittsanzeige im Scheinwerfer sind weitere Highlights. Der Strahler ist dreh- und abnehmbar und komplett gegen Wasser abgedichtet. BUMM is here with a bang!
You are riding across the elds at night and you see an ultra-bright ball of light coming towards you. It is neither a car nor a UFO but a cyclist using the new Big Bang from Busch & Mller. We are talking about the first High-Performance electric discharge front lamp (100 Lux), which also meets the requirements of the Road Trafc Licensing Act (StVZO). The computer-calculated reector produces optimum light distribution without dazzling. The electric discharge bulb does not wear out, and with the cigarette packet-sized lithium-ion rechargeable battery it delivers light for up to 4.5 hours. Electronic charging control and total discharging protection as well as a remaining power-level display in the front lamp are further highlights. The light can be swivelled, is removable and completely waterproof. The unit can be installed on and beneath the handlebars.

With the Cadenza, folding-bike specialist Dahon is impressively demonstrating how stylish a folding bike can look. The heart of the unit is the LockJaw diamond frame, which has a joint on the crossbar and down-tube respectively. A one-quarter turn using a standard Allen key is all that is needed and the Cadenza can be converted into a handy package measuring 39 cm x 81 cm x 94 cm in just a few seconds. The frame is characterized by an extraordinary robustness and stability for a folding bike. The frame and forks can accommodate VBrakes or disc brakes, and thanks to the eccentric inner ball bearing feature, hub gear systems can also be tted. The Continental Sport Contact tires ensure that the Cadenza can nip round corners. The saddle post even comes with an integrated pump, a practical feature for all applications.

Passend zu den Jugendbchern und zum Film Wilde Kerle gibt es nun den lssigen Wilde Kerle DWK Cruiser. Dieses Rad berzeugt durch ein unverwechselbares Design (schwarz/orange) und durch Qualitt. Denn wer wild sein will, muss auf das Material vertrauen knnen. Entsprechend hochwertig sind Rahmen und Ausstattung: Springer-Federgabel, stufenlos verstellbare Lenkerund Sattelhhe in einer generell mitwachsenden Rahmengeometrie, breiter Cruiser-Lenker und spezieller Cruiser-Sattel (tiefe Sitzposition), verstellbare Bremsgriffe und vieles mehr. Einmalig ist sicherlich die Ballhalterung am Lenker. Der Cruiser hat die Reifengren 20 (hinten) und 24 Zoll (vorne) und besitzt eine 5-Gang-Shimano SISKettenschaltung. Continuing the theme of the young peoples books and the lm Wilde Kerle (Wild Boys), we now have the casual Wilde Kerle DWK Cruiser. This bike impresses through an unmistakable design (black/orange) and its quality, because any wild person must be able to count on the material. The frame and ttings are correspondingly high quality: Springer suspension forks; continually adjustable handlebars and saddle height combined with a frame geometry which generally grows with the rider; broad Cruiser handlebars and special Cruiser saddle (deep seated position); adjustable brake levers and much more. What is without doubt unique is the ball-shaped mounting on the handlebars. The Cruisers tire sizes are 20 (rear) and 24 inch (front) and is equiped with a 5-gear Shimano SIS derailleur system. The seat height is 72 centimetres thus making the bike suitable for children from about the age of seven.

Well concealed within the mountain bikes frame, the interaction between the ultra-light GRUBER Assist drive and the bikes pedal crank goes almost unnoticed. This drive mechanism can be installed on practically every MTB with a straight, continuous saddle tube with an interior diameter of 31.6 mm and only weighs 900 g. An NiMH high-performance rechargeable battery (approximately 1,500 g) can be easily and separately accommodated in a conventional saddle bag. As a result, apart from a small red on-off button on the bar ends, there is almost nothing to indicate the presence of the drive unit. Thanks to the 200-Watt powerful drive mechanism, the bikers own performance can, if required and depending on their tness level, be increased by up to 100 percent. This system enables riders to climb steep hills much more easily and possibly more healthily but shush, dont tell anyone! Have lots of fun biking with others, even with different tness levels.

Motocrossmaschine oder Downhillbike? Die Antwort ist nicht leicht, doch der fehlende Motor verrt das Fahrrad. Der neue Downhill-Bolide DHi von GT hat nur einen Wunsch: abwrts, mglichst nah an der direkten Falllinie. Zusammen mit dem mehrmaligen Weltmeister und Weltcup Racer Brian Lopes ist es GT gelungen, in zweieinhalbjhriger Arbeit dieses Downhillbike auf die Rder zu stellen. Der i-Drive-Hinterbau hat satte 230 mm Federweg. Interessant auch der CarbonSitzdom, der bei Beschdigung ausgetauscht werden kann. Mit dem Monocoque-Hauptrahmen und der RockShox Boxxer Worldcup wurde alles aufgeboten, was sich Downhiller wnschen. Mit weniger als 18 kg gehrt das DHi nicht zuletzt dank der Top SRAM X-0 Komponenten zu den Leichtgewichten am Downhillrmament.

Downhill!

A moto-cross machine or downhill bike? The answer to that question is not easy, but the missing motor betrays the fact that it is a bicycle. The new Downhill DHi top-class machine from GT has only one desire: get downhill, as close as possible to the direct fall line. Together with the several-times World Champion and World Cup Racer Brian Lopes, and after 2 1/2 years of work on the project, GT has succeeded in getting this Downhill bike ready for action. The i-Drive rear section has an impressive 230-mm travel suspension. Another attractive feature is the Carbon seat tower which can be replaced in the event of damage. With the Monocoque main frame and the RockShox Boxxer Worldcup, everything that downhillers could wish for has been included. Weighing less than 18 kg, and not least thanks to its top SRAM X-0 components, the DHi is one of the lightweights in the Downhill fraternity.

Runs like clockwork

This chain-wax is a composition of various waxes with a special dry lubricant as an additive, dissolved in a supporting agent. Without clogging up the chain this product impresses through its excellent lubrication effect. The wax smoothes the surface textures thus enabling friction-free chain gliding and movement. The rm, solid lubricant components embed themselves in the microscopically small, uneven areas and ensure an extremely longlasting lubrication effect. A further pleasant, positive characteristic is the so-called self-cleaning effect: the dirt particles bind together, form small globules with the wax and drop off the chain completely. The chain also has a waterproof sealing thanks to the wax coating thus providing full protection from any corrosion.

Mit Contoura hob der niederschsische Fahrradhersteller Hartje im Frhjahr 2006 eine custom made Marke aus der Taufe und pnktlich zur Ifma steht die zweite Kollektion an. Contoura ist eine Symbiose aus Ergonomie, Funktionalitt und Eleganz. Die Entwicklung und Fertigung dieses Fahrradprogramms erfolgt in Deutschland. Das tolle fr den Kunden: Er whlt zwischen acht frischen Farben und vier Schaltungsvarianten aus. Auch zwischen Feder- und Starrgabel kann der Kunde whlen. So bekommt er auf jeden Fall ein Rad, das zu seinem individuellen Nutzungsverhalten passt. Das Modell Padua ist ein leichtes Trekkingrad (13,7 kg) in StVZO-Ausstattung, das in der SCVariante auch mit Federgabel und Federsattelsttze lieferbar ist. Das Padua hat brigens noch die Geschwister Perkeo und Pisagua mit jeweils anderen Highlights.
Hartje KG. Contoura Padua Trekkingrad Trekking bike
With the Contoura the Lower-Saxony bicycle manufacturer Hartje created a custom-made brand in spring 2006, and now right on time for IFMA, the second collection is ready. Contoura is a symbiosis between ergonomics, functionality and elegance. The development and production of this bicycle range is effected in Germany. The fantastic part for the customer: they can choose between eight fresh colours and four different gear systems. The customer even has the choice between a spring fork and a rigid fork. This means that the customer can denitely select a bicycle which is perfectly suited to their individual riding pattern and habits. The Padua model is a lightweight trekking bike (13.7 kg) with ttings and features which are compatible with the Road Trafc Licensing Act (StVZO), which in the SC version, is also available with a spring fork and suspension saddle post. Incidentally, the Padua also has two sisters, Perkeo and Pisagua, each with different highlights

HP Velotechnik. Scorpion fx Dreirad Tricycle

Move like a scorpion

Even if the new Scorpion fx from HP Velotechnik doesnt move in three directions like the animal its named after, it does allow the rider to move forward on three wheels while in a lying position. This recumbent bike is fun to ride and offers great road holding. The rider leans back in comfort thanks to the frame suspension, and the angle and length can be adjusted so that its easy to keep an eye on the road ahead. The tricycle is also ideal for longer trips, as around 50 kg of luggage can be stowed in four pack-bags on the robust holder and the low-rider carrier behind the seat. Another special feature: Its quick and simple to fold the bike up into a compact package measuring 102 x 83 x 69 cm that ts easily into the car. The front wheel can also be removed using an Allen key, so that the agile bike can even be stowed in the back of a smart.

Humpert. Drehx Stem Vorbau Front section
Schlankheitskur fr den Lenker
Enge Hausure, Bahnabteile, Fahrradtransport im Auto: das Rad passt eigentlich hinein, aber der sperrige Lenker eckt berall an. Dafr hat der Traditionshersteller Humpert aus Wickede/Ruhr jetzt eine praktikable Lsung. Mit wenigen Handgriffen lsst sich die gesamte Lenkereinheit im Vorbauschaft werkzeuglos verdrehen. Dadurch wird die Baubreite des Fahrrads mehr als halbiert. Die kinderleichte Bedienung ermglicht auch technisch ungebten Personen ein schnelles Zurechtkommen und ein cleverer Sicherheitsmechanismus verhindert eine Fehlbedienung. Die Nachrstung ist bei allen Fahrrdern mit Schaftvorbau mglich. Bei Rdern mit A-Head ist das hier vorgestellte System nicht einsetzbar. Das kompakte Design bildet eine stimmige Einheit mit dem Cockpit.

Leaner handlebars

Narrow corridors, railway carriages, the boot of the car these are all places where theres theoretically enough space for a bike, but the handlebars make things awkward. Humpert, a long-standing manufacturer from Wickede/Ruhr, has now come up with a practical solution. With just a few icks of the wrist, the entire handlebar unit in the front section can be twisted without the need for tools. This cuts the width of the bike by more than half. The user-friendly product is suitable for everyone, whatever their level of technical skill; a clever safety mechanism prevents mishandling. The stem can be retrotted to all bikes with a shaft front section. However, it is not compatible with bikes with an A-head. The compact design blends in well with the cockpit.

Aluminium of course

Low weight and easy, light-running characteristics were the guiding principles in the development of the Speed 16 from Kettler. That is why the Kettler engineers were also consistent in foregoing spring forks and a suspension saddle post, which when cycling on good-quality asphalt surfaces, do not provide any additional comfort. As a result, the area of application for Speed 16 and its sister is clearly dened: it only really feels at home on asphalt. The clear-cut, timeless look is also underlined by the extravagant wheels tted with Schwalbe Marathon Racer tires. The gear unit is a combination of derailleur and hub gear systems. At the front a pedalpower-supported derailer moves the chain and at the rear the tried-and-tested Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gear system does its thing. The Hella lighting system is dynamo-powered.

Alles ist mglich

Die Lippstdter Firma KMX hat ein vllig neues Trikekonzept geschaffen, denn das ST Class trike ist eine Fusion aus BMX-Rad, Go-Kart und Liegedreirad. ST steht dabei fr Stunt. Das Trike ist konzipiert fr Jumps, Slides und Stunts. Der robuste Rahmen und das Fahrwerk sind fr hohe Fahrstabilitt und sicheres Steuern auch im harten Offroad-Einsatz ausgelegt. Mit 16 cm fllt die Sitzhhe sehr niedrig aus, sie ist jedoch auch bei extremen Fahrmanvern Garant fr eine satte Straenlage. Somit ist es fast unmglich, das Trike zu kippen, wenngleich Knner allerdings auch auf zwei Rdern fahren erhhter Adrenalinspiegel inklusive. Gebremst wird die ST Class mit drei mechanischen Scheibenbremsen, die Hinterradbremse ist feststellbar. Die ST Class ist fr Triker ab ca. 1,50 m Krperlnge geeignet.

Anything is possible

The KMX company (based in Lippstadt) has created a completely new trike concept the ST Class trike, which combines the best features of a BMX bike, go-cart and reclining bike. The ST designation stands for stunt. The trike is designed for jumps, slides and stunts. Its robust frame and suspension are engineered to ensure maximum ride stability and sure steering, even for extreme offroad use. The remarkably low-slung 16 cm high seat ensures excellent contact with the road surface. Therefore it is almost impossible to tip the trike, even for expert riders who can bring the three-wheeler up on two wheels for maximum adrenaline levels. The ST Class is equipped with three mechanical disc brakes, and there is an emergency brake for the rear wheel. The trike is designed for riders who are 1.5 m or taller.

Welch ein cooles Bike! Wer mit diesem stylishen Cruiser P.U.B. von Raleigh durch die Gegend rollt, fllt garantiert auf. Einige typische Cruiser-Elemente prgen den Retro-Look: Cruiser-Sattel mit Federung und Raleigh-Bestickung, Cruiser-Lenker mit Leder-Griffen, fette Cruiser Blackwall-Reifen drehen sich auf farblich abgesetzten gelben AluFelgen. What a cool bike! Any rider who rolls through the neighbourhood on Raleighs stylish P.U.B. cruiser is sure to have heads turning. Several typical cruiser elements give the bike its retro look: A cruiser saddle with suspension and Raleigh stitching, cruiser handlebars with leather handgrips, and fat, blackwall cruiser tyres mounted on eye-catching yellow aluminium rims. The P.U.B. cruisers equipment is rounded off by its drum brake from the legendary British metalworks Sturmey Archer and the fork from Springer. The cruiser is equipped with a classic back-pedal brake and who needs gears to switch? The all-black aluminium frame features a big name plate on the cross bar. Last but not least, theres the bikes coolest touch a bottle opener integrated in the triangular section of the frame. Sunglasses and boots are all that is needed to complete the laid-back look.

The 4 Cross wheels from Schrmann have only four large spokes. These carbon spokes are connected seamlessly with rim and hub in the injection process. The rim is CNC turned and features a double chamber. For safety in darkness, a reecting 3M ring is attached. The hub, from SRAM, is a 9.0 hub modied for the injection process. The cassette body is SRAM- and Shimano-compatible (8 and 9 speed). The special construction is intended to ensure extreme toughness without maintenance work and post-centering. The wheels are easy to maintain because owners can reach anywhere with a sponge when there are only four spokes. The high weight of 1,250 grams for the front wheel and 1,490 grams for the rear wheel ensures sturdiness.

Mit dem neuen Wettkampfreifen Ultremo gelingt Schwalbe ein groer Sprung in der Reifentechnologie, denn superleichte 195 g, ein Triple Compound sowie ein einzigartiger Schutzgrtel aus Vectran, das auch in der Raumfahrt eingesetzt wird, machen den Reifen schnell, grifg und pannensicher. Schwalbes new Ultremo competition tyres are a great leap forward in tyre technology: The company has used a triple compound and unique protective belt made of Vectran, which is also used in the aerospace industry, to produce a 195 g tyre that is fast, puncture-proof and ensures excellent traction. Three rubber compounds are used in the new tyres running surface: The middle of the tyres running surface delivers durability, while its shoulders provide good traction. Beneath the surface is a time-trial compound, which reduces rolling resistance. But the Ultremo really stands out because it is puncture-proof: The Vectran belt protects the soft tube from glass, thorns and splinters. This is an unprecedented feature in tyres in this weight class, and the Ultremo is more than a match for the highest-rated puncture-proof tyres on the market.

Simplon, the Austrian premium manufacturer based in Hard on Lake Constance, is using hot-melt nano-carbon in a bicycle frame for the rst time. The hot-melt resin system allows a more constant proportion of resin in the nished frame. Thanks to nanotechnology, tiny particles are embedded in the gaps between the carbon bres. The result is an extremely high material strength. The almondshaped primary tubes of the Pavo provide increased lateral stability and impact protection with better vertical elasticity. Together with the Vibrex back section, the Pavo provides optimal riding comfort. With a system weight of only 1,180 grams for frame and fork, the Pavo features exceptional stability and ride comfort. When equipped with Dura Ace and Fulcrum Racing Speed wheels, the bike weighs under seven kilograms.

This years IFMA visitors will be able to enjoy the rst-ever hit guide area on the Boulevard in front of the Halls. Prior to the fair, an expert jury will select the 50 most innovative products from IFMA exhibitors. IFMA out and about: IFMA Tourism Centre:
During the weekend, when the fair is open to the public, trade fair visitors will be able to check out exciting ideas for their next cycling tour at the largest ever IFMA Tourism Centre. Cycling-friendly regions will be presenting themselves in the representative area located in the Boulevard, while organisers will present guided cycle tours both within Germany and abroad, and experts will offer practical tips. Date: Saturday/Sunday 16th/17th September 2006. Venue: Messeboulevard The long-distance bikers attending the rst IFMA Long Distance Bikers Convention will have the opportunity to talk about their adventures and dreams of a life of boundless freedom. The spotlight will be on ten long-distance bikers who will showcase their equipment and talk about their experiences in slide shows and photo presentations. The participant with the most spectacular tour will be voted Long Distance Biker of the Year by an expert jury. The convention will be organised with the assistance of the Cologne-based agency grenzgang in conjunction with, among others, Hartmut Fiebig, who once rode all the way from Constance to Cape Town.
The Specialist Trade Centre
A specialist trade centre will be set up for trade visitors and exhibitors. The centre, which is located above the Trade Fair Boulevard, offers unique opportunities to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of the fair and engage in discussions over a free business breakfast and drinks.
