Please read this manual carefully prior to operating your new SilverCrest Portable USB speakers. Keep these instructions for future reference. Please remember: Any changes or modifications to the device that have not been explicitly authorised by the manufacturer may void the operation authorisation.

Getting Started

Preparation:
1. Connect the supplied stands to the speakers. 2. Place the speakers on the left and right sides of your monitor and connect the speaker with the jack-type connector to the other speaker. The corresponding jack can be found at the rear of the USB speaker. 3. Power on your computer.

Installing and Setting Up the Speakers
1. Connect the two speakers that are now inter-connected to a free USB port of your computer. 2. A blue LED indicator on one of the speakers will indicate that the speakers are properly connected and receiving power. 3. The driver installation will occur automatically, as the required drivers should be contained in the operating system. 4. However, should the system prompt you for any drivers, insert the supplied CD-ROM. It will allow you to install the required drivers. 5. The driver installation will also be explained later on in detail. Please read the corresponding chapter.
Adjusting the Volume of the Speakers
The volume adjustment is performed from within the music playing application (e.g. Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) or the Windows Volume control. Normally the icon can be found in the Windows system tray.

Installing the Driver

The driver can be found on the included CD-ROM. There are drivers for the following operating systems: Windows 98SE Windows 2000 Windows ME Windows XP

To install the drivers:

1. Insert the driver CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. 2. The computer should launch the driver installation automatically. If this is not the case, launch the file setup.exe from the CD-ROM root folder. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Figure 2: In this step, the drivers and 3D demo program will be installed. Select the item(s) you wish to install and click Next. Note: You should always install the driver whereas installing the demo program is not necessary.

Portable USB Speakers 50227SC Figure 4: After the driver installation is complete, you are prompted to restart your computer. Close any applications that may be opened in background in order to avoid any loss of data. Then click OK.
After a successful installation, the Windows system tray will contain the following icon allowing you to launch the 3D demo software.
The Xear-3D Software lets you perform many modifications and obtain different sound effects.

Troubleshooting

I can hear no sound whats happening? Make sure that the audio source is supplying an audio signal. Make sure that the speakers have power. You can check this with the blue LED at the side of one of the speakers. Check whether your operating system is listed in the System Requirements. The sound is distorted. The speakers may be overloaded: reduce the audio volume. Even at maximum volume the sound level is very low. The speakers have been designed for supplying sound only next to the computer. As they have no independent power supply but are powered via the USB port, a very high volume level cannot be reach.
