New Sony Wireless 5.1 Channel DVD/SA-CD Home Theatre Systems Elevate Home Entertainment to a New Level Advanced S-DIAT wireless technology and DCAC technology allow for accurate and flexible installation in any living room Hong Kong, May 23, 2006 Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Limited expanded its wireless 5.1 channel DVD/SA-CD home theatre system series with the new additions - DAV-FX900KW and DAV-DZ820KW - which deliver optimal performance for movie and music playback while offering simple set-up and placement flexibility. Both models incorporate the best in AV technologies including S-DIAT wireless technology, Sonys unique Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) technology and S-Master full digital amplifier, allowing users to enjoy a supreme surround sound experience with a powerful audio output. Sonys Digital Infrared rays Audio Transmission (S-DIAT) wireless technology The DAV-FX900KW and DAV-DZ820KW transfer audio signals of the most advanced high frequency media such as HDTV and DVD through infrared light without compression or compromise to sound quality thanks to Sonys proprietary Digital Infrared rays Audio Transmission (S-DIAT) wireless technology. Infrared light is used as the carrier to transmit multi-channel digital audio signals directly from front to rear speakers throughout a local area. The S-DIAT system allows users to choose either wired or wireless rear speakers according to their preference and frees them from interference by other wireless information or data transmitted by other electronics devices such as TV remote controls, mobile phones, microwaves and wireless LAN. DCAC offers fast and accurate speaker formation The DAV-FX900KW and DAV-DZ820KW allow for simple and flexible surround sound set-up with the Silver Grade of the Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC), developed by Sony to accurately measure and adjust the speaker setting in just 30 seconds to suit any listening environment. Users can now easily place the speakers with the seven modes of multi speaker formation according to their needs as well as the shape and area of the living room. All the speaker formation settings ensure the speakers are optimized to provide a rich sound reproduction and 5.1 surround sound effects. This simple and easy set-up feature utilizes the supplied sensor to measure speaker distance, level and frequency while automatically calibrating the listening environment to accurately optimize the sound field. The speaker formations can be navigated and selected on-screen via the supplied remote control. Close to original sound reproduction by S-Master An upgraded 32-bit S-Master full digital amplifier is incorporated to reproduce realistic sound sensation close to the original recording as the full digital signal processing uses simplified signal
path to keep the purity of the digital audio signal, while preventing the loss of data and distortion associated with conventional analogue amplifiers. Featuring the Super Audio CD playback capability, the systems convert sound signals using Direct Stream Digital (DSD), a new recording and reproduction process, transmitted data are retained almost as purely as the original sound itself. The Super Audio CD is widely regarded as the highest quality audio source currently available and highlights the exciting benefits of stereo and multi-channel surround sound by reproducing the nuance and power of high-resolution audio. The DAV-FX900KW boasts an incredibly high total power output of 1280W (RMS 10% THD), delivering unrivalled sound effects for home entertainment. The new home theatre system series features such audio features as the 2-way bass reflex speaker system, Digital Direct Twin Drive (DDTD) sub-woofer and Nano Fine Tweeter for outstanding sound performance. The DAVFX900KW employs the mica reinforced material passive speaker design to make its subwoofer slim yet powerful. Sonys portable audio enhancer feature is included to let users plug a portable audio player through its front audio input and listen to music with enhanced sound quality. The karaoke function offers more options for home entertainment. The DAV-FX900KW comes with a slot-in 5-disc changer to facilitate playback of DVD movies, TV serials and music CD. High definition AV enjoyment Both models incorporate a DVD/SA-CD/CD player featuring HD video signals 720p/1080i upscaling through the HDMI digital interface connecting to the high definition BRAVIA LCD TVs for optimum picture quality. Combining Sonys proprietary Precision Cinema Progressive, Pixel-by-Pixel I/P Conversion and V-edge Compensation technologies with a 12bit/108MHz D/A Converter, the systems produce high quality picture with crisp and vivid images. The A/V Sync function eliminates any time-delay between picture and sound that may occur due to the digital signal processing of high-resolution picture transaction.
