Home Cinema the Tidy Way

When I wanted to install a modest home cinema system I really wanted it to be easy to live with as our house is a regular home with no spare room to convert to a cinema. I also had a problem in that there is a RSJ beam just above the ceiling of our living room preventing any option to sink a screen into it. I did not want a white box permanently across our living room ceiling so had to develop a special screen solution. The other problem the RSJ caused is the need for the mount for the screen to be completely off-centre. The whole thing runs of just one motor and an actuator and some cunning pulley work. The screen size is unconventional at about 90 diagonal to match the maximum span of the Panasonic PT-AE500E projector at that range.
The projector was also hidden by mounting it vertically with additional cooling within the thickness of the rooms wall, accessed from the adjoining hallway and projecting via a front surface mirror through a small glass panel into the lounge. A Sony DAV-SC6 system provides the DVD and sound in a compact convenient format. To operate, the projector is turned on via its remote which works perfectly anywhere in the room, the projectors trigger output turns on its extra cooling fan and operates the screen mechanism. A small microprocessor controls the sequence of unfurling and monitors any problems stopping the sequence if necessary. Total project cost 2350
