Using the Remote, the AUX channel is to be set to F1 in order to Print to Tape. The device must be in play or pause mode when the capture interface is opened and DV is the selected input. If the device is in stop mode the it will not be recognized by the capture app. (Fixed in softDV5.1.1.0.109 & higher) Device automatically applies 3:2 pulldown to output 24P acquired material as 29.97i. Removal of this pulldown is not provided by NLE application. When a tape is inserted the inner mechanism must be closed first. The outer shell is closed after the tape is completed nested in the device otherwise transport control will no occur. Transport Control not very responsive. SoftDV Information

DV capture and output can be achieved with dpsVelocity and dpsVelocityQ through two methods Hardware DV and SoftDV. Hardware DV uses a dedicated Leitch hardware module (DVI-40x0, DVI-50x0, SDV-40x0, SDV 50x0) for DV I/O, and so long as your computer system meets the system requirements for dpsVelocity and dpsVelocityQ, DV I/O performance will generally be dependant only on the device (deck/camera) you are using, not on the specific configuration of your host computer. SoftDV is an optional software component that may be installed on a dpsVelocity or dpsVelocityQ system and then used to capture DV video to a DPS video file using a standard OCHI compliant IEEE 1394 port (also known as a Firewire port). It incorporates the MainConcept DV codec. In general, SoftDV performance is very dependant on the deck/camera you are using as well as the specific computer system you are using. Please note the following requirements and restrictions. Computer Requirements: Your system must meet the requirements for your dpsReality or dpsQuattrus hardware. Microsoft DirectX 8.1 is required. This is included with Windows XP. If required, the DirectX 8.1 Runtime for Windows 2000 can be downloaded from the Microsoft web site. A fast CPU is required since SoftDV uses software to encode and decode video in real time. A minimum of a 1 GHz CPU is recommended. (Note that this is greater than the minimum CPU speed required to run the dpsReality hardware.) Your computer motherboard must pass the all DMA (Direct Memory Access) performance requirements. Please see the Post Production section of the Leitch web site for a list of certified motherboards. If your system fails to meet any of the above requirements, or uses a motherboard not on our certified list, we cannot guarantee that SoftDV will be perform successfully. DV Device Caveats: Leitch has tested some DV devices, and will continue to update the list of tested DV devices. If your DV device is not on this list, we cannot guarantee that SoftDV will be successful with your device. If timecode cannot be read from Sony decks under Windows XP please make sure that you have installed the Windows XP Service Pack 1 from Microsoft. Print-to-tape timecode output behavior is deck-dependant. Some decks preserve and extend striped timecode during print-to-tape, some don't. On decks that don't, you will only be printing the video, and not the timecode. With some decks Print-to-tape behavior is not frame accurate. It may be off by as much as 3 to 5 seconds after the in point, and as much as 1 second before the out point. We recommend that you test SoftDV with your deck before you attempt a Print to Tape operation. The deck audio input setting (in kHz) must match the dpsVelocity audio output settings. In dpsVelocity activate the Timeline then select Output > Timeline Settings and change the audio output settings (if necessary). Please refer to the SoftDV Readme found on your installation CD for additional tips and suggestions, known issues, and latest updates on this feature.
