A very nice piece This is a very quality CD player utility. It is (on a price/performance ratio the best.) it is the perfect medium in CD players.

Welcome!

Thank you for purchasing the Sony TC-TX77/TX770 Stereo Cassette Deck. This unit is suitable for use with the DHC-MD77/EX77MD/ EX770MD/EX880MD system stereo. You can operate this unit using the remote provided with the DHC-MD77/EX77MD/EX770MD/ EX880MD. This unit is equipped with Dolby Noise Reduction system.
Turn on the amplifier and select the tape deck position. Press OPEN/CLOSE and insert a recorded tape (see Fig. C).
Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray.

Recording on a Tape Manually

(see Fig. A, C and D)

You can record a CD or an MD as you like, for example, recording just the tracks you want or recording from the middle of the tape.

OPEN/CLOSE

Press DIRECTION repeatedly to select the side you want to play.
Select A to play one side. Select to play both sides once. To play both sides in succession, select a*.
Turn on the amplifier and play the program source you want to record. Press OPEN/CLOSE and insert a blank tape (see Fig. C).

Press to play the reverse side. Playback starts.
The unit is not disconnected from the AC power source (mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if the unit itself has been turned off. Unplug the system from the wall outlet (mains) if it is not to be used for an extended period of time. To disconnect the cord (mains lead), pull it out by the plug. Never pull the cord itself. Should any solid object or liquid fall into the component, unplug the system and have the component checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further. The AC power cord must be changed only at the qualified service shop.

Maintenance

Cleaning tape heads
Clean the heads approximately once after every 10 hours of use. If the heads become very dirty, problems such as poor sound, low volume level, drop-out in the sound, incomplete erasure of previous recordings, or inability to record new material may occur. Also, make sure to clean the heads before making important recordings and after playing old tapes. Use an optional cleaning cassette. For details, refer to the instructions provided with the cleaning cassette.
The sound is unbalanced. Make sure the Dolby NR setting matches the setting used when the tape was recorded. Move the system away from the TV, VCR or power amplifier. There is no sound. Connect the power cord firmly. Connect audio cords properly. Insert the plugs firmly.

Allumez lamplificateur et slectionnez la position platinecassette. Appuyez sur OPEN/CLOSE et insrez une cassette enregistre (voir Fig. C).
Appuyez nouveau sur OPEN/CLOSE pour refermer le plateau.

Tension dalimentation

Avant de brancher la platine, assurezvous que sa tension dalimentation est la mme que celle du secteur.

TYPE-II

TYPE-IV
Pertes du son Les cabestans ou galets presseurs sont sales. Parasites excessifs Les ttes sont magntises. loignez la platine du tlviseur ou du magntoscope. Le son est dsquilibr. Assurez-vous que le rglage DOLBY NR correspond celui qui a t utilis lors de lenregistrement. loignez la platine du tlviseur, du magntoscope ou de lamplificateur de puissance. Il ny a pas de son. Branchez solidement le cordon dalimentation. Branchez correctement les cordons audio. Introduisez bien les fiches.

Enregistrement manuel sur une cassette

(voir Fig. A, C et D)

Vous pouvez enregistrer un CD ou MD sur une cassette comme vous le dsirez. Ainsi, vous pouvez enregistrer seulement les plages choisies ou commencer lenregistrement en milieu de bande.

Scurit

La platine nest pas isole du secteur tant quelle reste branche la prise secteur, mme lorsquelle est teinte. Dbranchez la platine de la prise secteur si vous prvoyez quelle ne sera pas utilise pendant longtemps. Pour dbrancher le cordon dalimentation, tirez-le par la fiche. Ne tirez jamais directement sur le cordon. Si un objet ou un liquide tombe lintrieur de la platine, dbranchezla et faites-la contrler par un technicien qualifi avant de la rutiliser. Le cordon dalimentation ne doit tre remplac que dans un centre de service aprs-vente qualifi.

Entretien

Nettoyage des ttes
Nettoyez les ttes toutes les dix heures dutilisation environ. Si les ttes sont trs sales, ceci peut provoquer des problmes tels que mauvaise qualit du son, faible niveau sonore, pertes du son la lecture, effacement incomplet ou impossibilit denregistrer. Nettoyez galement les ttes avant deffectuer un enregistrement important ou aprs avoir cout de vieilles cassettes. Utilisez une cassette de nettoyage en option. Pour plus de prcisions, consultez le mode demploi de la cassette de nettoyage.

Demagnetizing the heads

Use a cassette type head demagnetizer (not supplied) to demagnetize the heads and the metal parts that come in contact with the tape once every 20 to 30 hours of use. For details, refer to the instructions provided with the head demagnetizer.
* The deck stops automatically after repeating the sequence five times. Press (see Fig. A) p. P. Press again to resume play. Fast-forward p, then press ) (for front side) or 0 (for reverse side). Rewind p, then press 0 (for front side) or ) (for reverse side). Select a track ) (to go forward) or (AMS*) 0 (to go back) during the front side playback. Press 0 (to go forward) or ) (to go back) during the reverse side playback. PLAY flashes. Remove the OPEN/CLOSE. tape To Stop play Pause * The Automatic Music Sensor (AMS) feature detects a blank space of more than four seconds between tracks and locates the track quickly.

Lieu dinstallation

Placez la platine dans un endroit bien ar pour viter toute accumulation de chaleur lintrieur. Ne placez pas la platine en position incline. Ne placez pas la platine dans un endroit : extrmement chaud ou froid ; poussireux ou sale ; trs humide ; soumis des vibrations ; en plein soleil. Pour toute question au sujet de cette platine ou tout problme, adressezvous au revendeur Sony le plus proche.
Start playing the source to be recorded. Turn REC LEVEL to adjust the recording level.
While monitoring the sound at the highest level, adjust the recording level so that it falls within the range illustrated in Fig. D.

Troubleshooting

The tape tray will not close. Turn the power back on, then close the tray. The tape does not operate even when buttons are pressed. Wait until the P indication stops flashing before pressing any buttons. (Operation is not possible for the first two seconds after the power is turned on.) Insert the tape properly and close the tray completely. The tape will not play or record. There is slack in the tape. The tape heads are dirty. Clean them. Recording is not possible. No tape is in the tray. The tab is removed. The tape is wound to the end. There is a decrease in sound level during playback or recording. The tape heads are dirty. The tape heads are magnetized. Demagnetize them. Previous recordings cannot be erased completely. The tape heads are magnetized.

Before inserting a tape

Take up any slack in the tape because it may become tangled in the deck mechanism, making it unusable.
Appuyez plusieurs fois sur DIRECTION pour choisir la face de la cassette sur laquelle vous dsirez enregistrer.
Choisissez A pour enregistrer sur une face. Choisissez ou a pour enregistrer sur les deux faces.

Nettoyage du coffret

Utilisez un chiffon doux lgrement imbib dune solution de dtergent doux.

You can use any type of tape, TYPE-I (normal), TYPE-II (CrO2) and TYPE-IV (metal), since the deck automatically detects the tape type (ATS*).
* The Automatic Tape Selection (ATS) feature automatically sets the equalization and bias to match the inserted tape type.
z Additional Information Precautions

On operating voltage

Before operating the system, check that the operating voltage of your system is identical with the voltage of your local power supply.
When you use a TYPE-II (CrO2) or TYPE-IV (metal) tape, do not cover the detector slots. If you do so, the tape deck cannot detect the tape type automatically. TYPE-II TYPE-IV
The sound may drop-out. The capstans or pinch rollers are dirty. There is excessive noise. The tape heads are magnetized. Move the system away from the TV or VCR.
Pour commencer lenregistrement par la face arrire, appuyez sur ltape 4 de faon que PLAY P {REC} (pour la face arrire) saffiche. Pour rduire le souffle de la bande dans les hautes frquences faible niveau sonore, appuyez plusieurs fois sur DOLBY NR pour choisir B ou C avant ltape 4. Vous ne pouvez pas changer le rglage de DOLBY NR pendant lenregistrement. Si vous appuyez sur RESET, laffichage du compteur est remis 00 00.
