Bluetooth earset
Bluetooth earset is referred to as earset in this manual.
The low battery display
The LED display color of the unit changes from blue to green when battery charge is low. In this case, recharge the battery immediately. After use, recharge the unit frequently.

The operation flow is described as follows.

The operation of the buttons on the earset varies depending on the pairing device. Headset profile or Hands-free profile is used for Bluetooth mobile phone pairing. Refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone. Headset Profile*1

Operating the unit
To use this unit with your Bluetooth mobile phone
The earset can connect directly to your Bluetooth mobile phone. For details, refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone.
Precautions
Avoid using Bluetooth earset with the volume turned up for an extended period of time. Doing so can damage your hearing. Listening at high volumes may also cause howling depending on the equipment connected with the earset. It is advisable to keep the volume at a moderate level at all times. Do not leave the Bluetooth earset in a location subject to direct sunlight, heat, moisture or in a parked car. Consult local lows and regulations regarding use of the Bluetooth earset while driving or cycling. Using the Bluetooth earset may not function on mobile phones, depending on radio wave conditions and location where the equipment is being used. If you experience discomfort after wearing the Bluetooth earset, take off the Bluetooth earset immediately. Start dialing after connecting the Bluetooth earset to your mobile phone.

Disposing of the earset
For environmental conservation, be sure to remove the built-in rechargeable battery from the unit before you dispose of it, and dispose of the battery appropriately.

Press and hold the Multi button on the earset for about 7 seconds until the LED blinks blue.
The unit turns on and the LED starts to blink blue every 3 seconds.

Indicates the status of the earset.
Time stated above may vary, depending on ambient temperature or conditions of use. Notes If the battery is not used for a long time, the battery charge may quickly deplete, however, after a few recharges, battery life will improve. If the life of the built-in rechargeable battery drops to half the normal length, the battery should be replaced. Consult your nearest Sony dealer for replacement of the rechargeable battery.

Make sure this unit is fixed firmly before driving to avoid an accident or damage. Do not handle the Battery charger while driving. Do not leave the Battery charger inside a car in high temperature. This may damage the fins or this unit. Take care that the Bluetooth earset and the Battery charger do not fall down while driving and during use. The car attachment is only for the Battery charger. Do not install other device, as it may cause an accident or damage by dropping, etc. Be sure to keep the unit out of the reach of children as it has small parts.

Hook the earset around your ear, as you would glasses.
Turning off the earset
Press and hold the Multi button on the earset for about 3 seconds until the LED blinks green, then goes off.
A Prepare the Bluetooth mobile
phone to be connected
Activate the Bluetooth function of the Bluetooth mobile phone to be connected to the earset.
*1 Some functions may not be supported, depending on your Bluetooth mobile phone. Refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone. *2 The beep sounds every 3 seconds while the microphone is muted. To cancel muting, press the VOLUME + or button.
Remove the battery holder with battery first, then remove the battery from the battery holder.

What's Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a new technology that enables wireless data communication by mobile phones, computers or other mobile devices. Bluetooth wireless technology operates within a range of about 10 meters* (about 30 feet). * Obstacles (body, metal, wall, etc.) or reception conditions may adversely affect the usable range.

Note When the earset is turned off, the current volume level is stored, except when turned off during charging. Tip A high/low beep is heard through the earset when it is turned off.

Some Bluetooth mobile phones can be operated while connected to the earset. Note In the following cases, connect again between the earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone. the earset is turned off the Bluetooth mobile phone (or its Bluetooth function) is turned off the Bluetooth function on the Bluetooth mobile phone and the earset are in sleep mode Bluetooth connection has terminated Refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone about Bluetooth connection and the Bluetooth function.
Charging the unit
The earset contains a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, that should be charged before using for the first time.
Changing the direction of the hanger
This unit can be worn on the right or left ear by the following procedure. Example: When changing over from right to left ear.

Introduction To pair the earset with a Bluetooth mobile phone
The earset needs to be paired with a Bluetooth mobile phone. Once the earset (DR-BT1) is registered in the mobile phone, there is no need for pairing again. But in the following cases, pairing is necessary again. The earset is paired with other Bluetooth equipment. The registration (DR-BT1) in the mobile phone is removed. Note For details, refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone.

Notes The LED colour of either unit changes from blue to green when battery charge is low. Communication may sometimes not occur, even though the Multi button on the earset is pressed. In such a case, the LED double blinks (blue) 3 to 5 times, after which the earset enters standby mode. Failure to communicate will occur in the following cases: The earset is not paired with your Bluetooth mobile phone. The Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth mobile phone is not activated.

Troubleshooting
Problem The recipient voice cannot be heard. Solution Check that the power of the earset is on. And check that the Bluetooth function on the mobile phone is on. Check the connection between the earset and the mobile phone. Check that the setting to use with the earset while calling. Check the volume of your mobile phone and the earset.

Unpacking
Check that you have the following items: Bluetooth earset (1) with a hanger (Size M)
Make sure that the indicator lights up green while charging.
The indicator lights up green.
Attach the hanger in the direction of the arrow as illustrated below.

Charging is completed in about 2.5 hours* and the indicator goes off automatically. Battery charger (1) * Time required for empty battery to recharge. Note If the LED on the earset does not light up green, dock again, and make sure that the indicator lights up green. Caution If this unit detects a problem while charging, the LED may blink green, and will turn off although the charge is not complete. Check for the following causes: Environmental temperature exceeds the range of 0C40C (32F-104F). There is a problem with the battery etc. In this case, charge again within the above-mentioned temperature range. If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer. Notes The unit cannot operate while charging. Charge in an environmental temperature of between 0C and 40C (between 32F and 104F). Avoid exposure to temperature extremes, direct sunlight, moisture, sand, dust or mechanical shock. Never leave in a car parked in the sun. Use only the supplied AC power adaptor. Do not use any other AC power adaptor.

Note The housing and the hanger are marked left (L) and right (R). For example, when using the left ear, the housing is set in the L position, and the hanger is attached with the L mark visible. Notes Bluetooth communication may be affected by the conditions below. Obstacles between the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone : Body, metal, walls, etc. Electromagnetic waves : A place where a wireless LAN is installed, a microwave oven is used, or where electromagnetic energy exists The above is also subject to the mobile phones antenna and reception conditions.
Holding the housing, rotate the hanger, and then pull out in the direction of the arrow.
D Call
To call: Use the keypad of your Bluetooth mobile phone to dial the number, then press the call button. If there is no sound from the earset, press the Multi button. Tip It is possible to call in various ways, depending on the Bluetooth mobile phone. Refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone. You can call by pressing the Multi button using the voice-dial function when in standby. You can call to the last number dialed by holding the Volume + or button (only when using Handsfree profile). You can call a specific number by pressing the Multi button. To receive a call: When the telephone is ringing, sound will be heard through the earset. Press the Multi button on the earset. Sound differs depending on your mobile phone. the earset sound the mobile phone sound (When using the Bluetooth function, it may be a specific sound.) Note If you pressed the call button on the Bluetooth mobile phone, some Bluetooth mobile phones may have handset use priority. In this case, set to talk with the earset by pressing the Multi button, or by operating the Bluetooth mobile phone. For details, refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone. To terminate a call: You can end a call by pressing the Multi button on the earset. Place the earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone within 1m (3 ft) of one another.
How to use the car attachment
The car attachment (supplied) can be used to hold the Battery charger, by installing it in the vent of the air conditioner of your car. This is convenient for using while driving.
You can adjust the angle of the attachment by sliding the rear of the car attachment.

Install the hook to face to the side if the fin of the air conditioner is vertical.
Make the pairing of the earset and your mobile phone again when the earset is connected to other Bluetooth products. Low sound from recipient Turn up the volume of your mobile phone and the earset.
While the earset is turned off, press and hold the Multi button for about 10 seconds.
Keep pressed until the LED blinks blue and green, indicating pairing mode.

Cancel the mute of Mic by pressing the volume button once when the Mic of the earset is muted. (Intermittent beep sound can be heard during muting.) Recharge the unit. The unit cannot be turned on when charging. Unplug the AC power adaptor from the Battery charger.

Search the earset by the Bluetooth mobile phone.
When the Bluetooth mobile phone detects the earset, DR-BT1 will appear in the display of the Bluetooth mobile phone. Note The pairing mode is canceled after about 60 seconds. If the LED returns to blinking blue (every 3 seconds), repeat from step 1.
The correspondence distance is short. (The noise mixes with the voice.)
If there are the obstacles between the earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone, remove or avoid the obstacles. If there is equipment that generates electromagnetic radiation, etc., such as a wireless LAN, other Bluetooth equipment, a microwave oven nearby, move away.

If DR-BT1 is not displayed, repeat from step 1.
Other operations To adjust the volume
Press VOLUME + or during connection. A beep corresponding to the selected volume is heard every time you press either button. When the volume setting is maximum or minimum, the beep does not sound. VOLUME + VOLUME
Input the passkey* [0000] when requested by your Bluetooth mobile phone.
If the LED on the earset changes from blinking blue and green to blinking blue slowly (every 3 seconds), the pairing has completed. The display of the Bluetooth mobile phone will usually show that pairing has completed. * Passkey may also be called the following. Pass code, PIN code, PIN number, Password.
Notes The car attachment may not be installable. Do not install the unit by force if installation is difficult. This may break a fin. Take care not to install or remove the unit by force. A fin may break. If necessary, protect the dashboard and the air conditioner vent with tape, etc., so as not to damage anything. Install this unit in a place that does not disturb the air bag function or your driving. Be sure to turn off the vents auto-swing function if your car has one.
Remove the attachment while pressing the fin.
Pairing can not be done.
Pair the units by bringing the earset and the mobile phone close together. Dock the earset with the Battery charger so that the LED turns green. When the contact terminal on the earset and the contact pin on the Battery charger are dirty, wipe them lightly with a soft dry cloth.
The earset cannot be charged.
Note If the attachment is pulled out and catches a fin, it may damage it.
Tip When the sound is low, raise the volume of your mobile phone. The sound will be clearer. Note The volume does not change although the beep sound is heard when not communicating (only when using the Headset profile).
